Chapter 211: Chapter 210: But It Feels Very Dirty

It wasn’t just the two Heavenly Masters who were stunned. Lin Wu froze as well, and his expression turned utterly foul.

’Idiots! Utterly useless! More trouble than they’re worth!’

The Heavenly Master felt wronged. ’There are so many talismans in the Mystical World,’ he thought. ’Am I supposed to investigate the creator of every new talisman I buy? What does it matter to me who made it?’

’I’m just unlucky! Doesn’t everyone have days like this?’

"Gu Qingyin," Lin Wu called out softly.

Gu Qingyin looked at him. "We meet again. I hope it’s for the last time."

Lin Wu sneered. "You don’t actually think I came completely unprepared, do you? I won’t make the same mistake twice!"

Chad furtively opened his eyes. He had wanted to get a look at Gu Qingyin’s "old rival," but the angle was off. The moment he peeked, his gaze met that of Huo Xingchen, who was poking just his head out of the tent opposite him.

Huo Xingchen froze for a second, then raised a finger to his lips in a "shhh" gesture.

The corner of Chad’s mouth twitched. ’No need to be so dramatic about being sneaky,’ he thought. ’With this many people and prying eyes, who are you possibly hiding from?’

Sure enough, the moment Huo Xingchen crawled out of the tent, several nearby Werewolves raised their guns in unison and aimed at him.

Huo Xingchen reflexively raised his Desert Eagle in response. Then, he slowly made his way to his dad’s side, and an overwhelming sense of security washed over him.

Huo Yunjing shot him a faint glance. "I thought you might go and rescue Chad."

Huo Xingchen paused, then said coolly, "He’s not important. Since he’s the only hostage, they won’t kill him so easily."

Huo Yunjing thought that made some sense, so he didn’t press the matter.

Meanwhile, Lin Wu had already taken out the source of his confidence: a wooden puppet.

Gu Qingyin blinked. "Don’t tell me that’s a clone of Xian Yu Fei?"

Lin Wu froze, suddenly at a loss.

Gu Qingyin’s eyes widened. "I guessed right?" She shook her head in disappointment. "Xian Yu Fei is such a coward. Can’t he show up in person?"

After saying that, she looked at Lin Wu expectantly. "So, how strong is this clone?"

Lin Wu’s face was stiff. He retorted, "What do you mean?"

"We ran into one of his clones before, and it was pretty mediocre. I hope this one is a bit more impressive. Otherwise, this whole setup would be a waste, wouldn’t it?"

Gu Qingyin sized him up and down. "Or perhaps you could lead me to Xian Yu Fei?"

Lin Wu: ...He could not.

Gu Qingyin was thoroughly disappointed. "Let’s get this over with." She turned to Huo Yunjing. "He’s all yours. I’m going to go test the strength of these Werewolves."

Of course, Huo Yunjing wasn’t going to refuse. He picked up Huo Xingchen and set him down beside Gu Qingyin. "Protect your mother."

Huo Xingchen nodded gravely. "Leave it to me."

Gu Qingyin shrugged. ’Whatever makes you two happy.’

She wanted to test how formidable the Werewolves were in close combat, but this group was all holding guns.

Hmm... Gu Qingyin rummaged through her shoulder bag, pulled out a crumpled talisman, casually wadded it up, and tossed it out.

The two Heavenly Masters who were watching her closely nearly burst out laughing. ’A thing like a piece of scrap paper, and she expects it to do something? Ha...’

Before they could even finish their silent mockery, the wad of talisman suddenly turned a leaden black and began to emit waves of dark light.

The two Heavenly Masters were stunned. The surrounding Werewolves also had their attention drawn to it, thinking it was some kind of superweapon.

But in the next second, the guns flew from the Werewolves’ hands, all sticking to the wad of talisman with a series of loud CLANGS.

In the blink of an eye, the fist-sized talisman had become a large iron ball.

Gu Qingyin nodded in satisfaction. ’It’s been a while, but the effect is still great. Everything I make is a masterpiece!’

"...Mom." Huo Xingchen’s voice was plaintive. "Can you turn around and look at me? See if anything’s different from a moment ago?"

Gu Qingyin turned back in confusion, looking him up and down. Her gaze finally landed on her son’s empty hands.

’It seems... like... there’s a gun missing?’

Gu Qingyin said, "Hmm... this talisman does have a drawback. Any metal object within its range is fated to be sucked away."

She shook her head. "That’s why it’s been tucked away at the bottom of my bag."

Gu Qingyin started rummaging through her bag again. "Don’t worry, Mom will find you something better..." She searched through her bag with a serious expression.

A moment later, her eyes lit up as she pulled out... a Magic Wand? The Western kind, a thin little black stick.

Huo Xingchen looked at it with some disdain. "What is this?"

Gu Qingyin pondered for two seconds. "I don’t remember its original name. From now on, you can call it a Conductor’s Baton."

Huo Xingchen: "...What can it conduct?"

Gu Qingyin wore a profound expression. "That’s up to you. The bigger your ambition, the bigger your stage."

Huo Xingchen was silent for a few seconds, then took the Conductor’s Baton. "Does it need to bond with a master?"

"Just imprint your Soul Power on it."

Huo Xingchen did as he was told. A special connection formed between him and the Conductor’s Baton, and he could sense the intent it sent back to him.

’As long as he willed it, he could conduct anything and everything in the world.’

Huo Xingchen paused. ’That’s a bit of an exaggeration, pal,’ he thought.

He looked up, his gaze sweeping across the scene. Everyone subconsciously avoided his eyes, except for Lin Wu, who bravely met his stare.

Huo Xingchen paused, then hesitantly raised the Conductor’s Baton, pointed it at Lin Wu, and said without much conviction, "How about a dance?"

Lin Wu’s whole body tensed. He gripped the wooden puppet tightly, waiting for doom to befall him.

One second, two seconds, three seconds... Lin Wu relaxed and sneered, "Useless."

Huo Xingchen’s face immediately turned cold. He pointed the Conductor’s Baton at him. "Slap yourself!"

"Ha!"

SLAP!

HISS—!

Everyone watched on, a lingering fear in their hearts.

Until that moment, no one had believed the Conductor’s Baton could actually command anyone. They were even getting ready to join Lin Wu in loud mockery.

But the next second, without any warning, Lin Wu had slapped himself—and hard. His face immediately swelled up.

Everyone gasped in shock.

Huo Xingchen was also stunned, but that was followed by sheer ecstasy. He pointed at Lin Wu and commanded again, "Go die!"

A look of terror crossed Lin Wu’s face. "Quick! Tie me up!"

The Werewolves immediately sprang into action, scrambling over each other to truss Lin Wu up tightly.

Having lost his freedom of movement, Lin Wu breathed a sigh of relief. But at the same time, it slowly dawned on him... ’Did I actually feel like I lost control just now? I don’t think so?’

He turned his head. The family of three was looking at him with the exact same expression: the kind of pity one reserves for a complete idiot.

Lin Wu felt his spirit go numb. In a calm tone, he said, "Untie me."

Huo Xingchen stared at the Conductor’s Baton in his hand. "Why is it so unreliable? It failed at the critical moment."

Gu Qingyin cleared her throat. "With a function that powerful, you have to allow for a few minor flaws. You just need to get used to it. The more you use it, the more you’ll figure out its quirks."

Taking advantage of the fact that very few people could see him, Huo Yunjing openly floated over to the still-bound Lin Wu and snatched the wooden puppet from his hands.

Rage surged through Lin Wu. For a moment, he was rendered speechless, able only to glare furiously at Huo Yunjing.

Huo Yunjing met his gaze for two seconds before speaking. "I can’t make sense of it, but it feels... filthy." After a pause, he added his assessment: "A real eyesore."

Lin Wu: This is too much!!!
