Chapter 1378: A Proud Ancestor
Anthony stared down at these Inner Disciples, but didn’t nod. He tore his gaze away as the airship sailed over them, then crossed the Core Disciple area as they, too, gazed into the sky.
After a moment, the aircraft moved over the Core and Above Disciples’ area as it headed towards the large building where the Sect Master and the four Core Elders were waiting. Arriving there, the aircraft lowered with a hum before stopping a couple of meters above the ground.
Before the Above disciples could even jump off, Chaos Betroth spoke in a calm, commanding tone.
"Wait here. I will meet with the Sect Master and Core Elders first. When the door opens again, you all can enter then."
The Above disciples paused in their steps, then bowed as they placed their right palms on their chests and spoke.
"As the Fifth Core Elder wishes."
Chaos Betroth didn’t speak or nod. She simply stepped off the ship, landing with a deft touch before walking towards the front door. She opened it and entered calmly.
As Chaos Betroth vanished into the Sect Master’s hall, the Above disciples began to speak.
"The Fifth Core Elder’s demeanor instantly changed the moment we arrived at the sect."
Lora Vake spoke with a sigh as she gazed at the door with a calm expression.
"That is to be expected."
Chu Feng replied with his hands crossed against his chest.
"I hope you weren’t thinking you could become best buddies with a Core Elder just because you fought on the same battlefield or have a mutual friend by the name of Anthony."
His eyes turned towards Lora Vake as he teased with an amused smile.
Lora Vake simply shook her head with a light smile as her hair danced to the rhythm of the wind. Of course, she wasn’t expecting that she and Chaos Betroth would suddenly become best friends just because they spent some time at the Inn, on this aircraft, and on the battlefield together.
Within the Sect Master’s hall, Chaos Betroth walked with calm steps, her expression as indifferent as ever. Null Nathaniel could be seen seated on his Sect Master seat, while the other four Core Elders stood below.
"You are finally back, Chaos Betroth, and it seems you’ve improved even more."
The Sword Ruler stated, his eyes reading Chaos Betroth as though he could see how much her comprehension had increased by. A smile appeared on his lips as he stared at her.
"I have your ridiculous descendant to thank for that, Sect Master."
She responded as a small, almost indifferent smile appeared on her lips.
The Sword Ruler nodded, then stayed silent for a moment before he asked in a calm tone.
"Do you think any of the Above disciples have been possessed?"
This was the most important matter, above all death, above all rumours, and above all rewards they might have gotten during their time within The Lover Of Death’s Inheritance Realm.
"According to my observations for the past nine days, I can confidently answer no."
She stated as she stood before the Sect Master and Core Elders. Although she didn’t possess some soul ability or anything of the sort, she was extremely sure. And even if some Old Monster from the ancient days had managed to fool even her, their act wouldn’t work against Anthony. He would have seen through such deception and pulled out their soul. After all, she had seen the Dark Knight use soul abilities on his opponents during the battle.
The Core Elders who had been silent until now heaved a sigh of relief. Null Nathaniel didn’t react, although he, too, was happy that nothing of the sort had happened.
As for why they had simply accepted the Fifth Core Elder’s words without question without properly checking, it was simply because of the trust they had in each other and how far they had come.
"Fifth Core Elder, we will be needing you to narrate every single event that occurred right from the moment you and the Above disciples left the Null Sect to this point where you returned."
The Sword Ruler ordered in a calm tone.
Although he ordered that, he and the Core Elders already knew a lot of things through their own information network and the rumours flying around. And aside from that, the Decipherer Of The Heavens and the Deceiver Of Laws had both confirmed a few things through their Laws and titles.
But it was impossible to know every single little detail.
Chaos Betroth started speaking from the very beginning. Even unnecessary details, like how much she paid for an inn, were mentioned. After a couple of minutes, Chaos Betroth was done speaking.
The hall was silent for a moment as the Core Elders and everyone else were speechless. Yes, they had heard the rumours and confirmed them through their information network, but Chaos Betroth shed light on many details they had missed and also spoke about a few things they didn’t know.
Like the Vanishing Reapers sending an Eternal Apex who fell to Anthony, for example. Then there were the six assassins who attacked Anthony at the Inn after the closure and final disappearance of the Sleeping Hollow.
Null Nathaniel felt like a proud Father at this moment. Although he wasn’t Anthony’s Father, Anthony was still a product of his bloodline, so he had the right to feel extremely proud at this moment.
And as for the Above disciples hiding their true strength, the Core Elders weren’t exactly surprised. If the Sect Master could tell that Chaos Betroth’s comprehension of the Universal Law Of Chaos had increased, how could some random weak disciples hide their strength from them?
Only Chu Feng surprised them, as they hadn’t exactly expected the boy to be that formidable. The only reason why Chu Feng had escaped their senses and readings was because of his Immortal Master. The Core Elders and the Sect Master didn’t really think much about it. They simply believed the boy was using some artefact or some technique.
