Chapter 1377: Name Chants

  • Next Chapter

The entire team stood on the deck as the Null Sect Floating City came within view. Tory Hale, Jerry, Lora Vake, and Chu Feng heaved a sigh of relief as they approached. Although they had Another who could handle and kill Eternal Apexes like flies, they only felt completely safe upon arriving back at the Null Sect, not because there was some hidden powerhouse here who was stronger than Anthony, but because there was a feeling of safety that came with being home.

But before they could even enter the Null Sect Floating City’s airspace, beams of various abilities and Laws screamed forward from various directions, each one streaking towards the airship.

The Above disciples were stunned. They hadn’t expected some people to be waiting for them below, let alone near the Null Sect itself. As for Chaos Betroth, she wasn’t surprised, as she had already sensed these people before the airship even arrived.

Various booming sounds erupted as the beams and laser beams slammed into the airship with detonating impacts. But the airship remained in place, not even shaking, as the airship’s protection mechanism had already been activated.

As the smoke cleared, a large green barrier could be seen circling the entire airship from all directions. Anthony didn’t need to act. After all, this airship had been crafted to even defend against Eternal Apexes; how could people who were below that realm damage it?

The airship hummed as various compartments parted, nozzle weapons appeared, the airship generated power from its core, then unleashed a devastating force upon every single direction each attack came from.

The attackers immediately scrambled for their lives, but it was useless, as the attacks connected with point-blank accuracy, ripping apart whatever defensive artefacts and talismans they had like a razor through paper.

Their corpses didn’t even remain, as their entire bodies were turned to cinders, not even the smell of blood or burnt corpses remaining.

Jerry stared at the destruction below as he asked in a flat tone.

"Are these people stupid? Haven’t they heard the news of Anthony’s strength? Only an Eternal Apex might last a couple of seconds before even they are killed, let alone them, who were weaker."

He couldn’t understand why these people would come here to throw their lives away. It was simply dumb and stupid to the highest possible degree.

Anthony, who stood with his hand to his back, replied in a calm tone and an indifferent expression.

"It’s because there is a bounty on my head. They are trying to get the reward."

Hearing Anthony’s words, none of the Above disciples reacted, Chaos Betroth simply remaining indifferent. After all, they had all anticipated something like this happening. But people actually taking on the bounty surprised them. If they were in these people’s shoes, they wouldn’t dare.

Anthony understood what they were thinking without even reading their minds, so he proceeded to explain.

"Not everyone is as talented as you guys, so not all of them can just gaze at the reward from the bounty and turn around. To many, if not all, this is a life-changing opportunity. They can either grab it or remain mediocre forever. Unless you’ve been in their shoes, you wouldn’t understand."

His tone was calm and explanatory, like he understood why these people jumped to their deaths, as though he too was just as untalented as them.

None of the Above disciples spoke. They didn’t judge these people for jumping to their deaths for the opportunity. That was what cultivation was all about, risking your life constantly to take a step forward, as there weren’t enough resources to go around.

Even they, the Above disciples, had risked their lives within the Sleeping Hollow.

The green barrier around the airship shone, then vanished completely as all the enemies within the area had been wiped out. The airship finally entered the airspace of the Null Sect. The moment the airship floated above, residents at Null City who weren’t permitted into the Null Sect as they weren’t disciples froze in their places.

The next moment, cheers erupted as they started chanting the Null Sect’s name at the top of their lungs. They had all heard the rumours flying around that the Null Sect had come out stronger during the Inheritance Realm expedition and had even defeated some stronger forces.

They were normal people, so the news that reached them was a bit limited, and due to them being normal beings, they weren’t exactly familiar with all cultivation ranks. While they were familiar with some, as everyone knew the first three realms or so, they weren’t aware of beings like Eternal Apexes.

After all, what business does a normal person have with an Eternal Apex?

The cheers and chants were immense as they jubilated. They knew that the Sect Master being so generous would have a feast and share some money or rewards with them, being normal people. It was one of the things they loved about the Sword Ruler.

Chu Feng and the rest didn’t react. They stood like they were some immortals of some sort. Although they didn’t react outwardly, they still stood at the very front where they could be seen as they basked in the glory.

As they approached the Outer Disciple sect area, the same thing happened, but this time, names were chanted as these disciples screamed like fanboys and fangirls.

"Anthony!!!"

"Chu Feng!!!"

"Tory Hale!!!"

"Jerry Jerry!!!"

"Lora Vake!!!!"

This time, the Above disciples looked downward, then simply nodded as their airship floated above them.

As they approached the Inner Disciple sect area, the same didn’t happen. They were Inner Disciples, so they had a bit of pride in them. How could they be jumping around like the Outer Disciples?

But pride could be seen within their eyes and postures as they stared at the aircraft, most of them focusing their eyes on Anthony as they tried to understand how this boy had wiped out over a hundred Eternal Apexes.

Unlike the normal folks at Null City, the Inner Disciples possessed more information networks and could gather more information on any rumours.
