Moscow.

Actually, when Gao Yang came to Moscow again, he still felt rather uneasy, because the last time he came he caused quite a bit of trouble.

And this time, when coming to Moscow, Yarebin had Gao Yang use his private jet.

In fact, Gao Yang hadn’t planned to use a private jet to come to Moscow. Even though, taking the polar route, his plane could fly straight to Moscow, it made it too easy to expose his identity.

After Yarebin mentioned going to Moscow, he immediately pressed to depart as soon as possible. And a private jet can’t just land at any airport it wants; it has to coordinate with the airport in advance. Gao Yang didn’t have the kind of convenient relationship with the Russian side that allowed him to land wherever.

But when Yarebin said to fly, they flew. Gao Yang believed that since Yarebin was having him come, nothing would go wrong.

So, without even knowing where they’d be allowed to land before takeoff, Gao Yang came to Moscow, and in the end he followed Yarebin’s instructions and landed at Sheremetyevo International Airport.

The plane landed smoothly. After landing, someone towed the plane away for refueling and maintenance. No one asked any questions, no one said anything. All in all, everything was completely different from Gao Yang’s impressions, as if the people on their plane were invisible.

Getting off the plane was only the beginning of the surprise. Next, the four of them just calmly and steadily walked out of the airport. Visas, border checks, customs—none of it seemed to exist. Wherever they went, they were just waved through, not even needing to stop.

They hadn’t arranged a car. They went out and grabbed a taxi, and then headed straight for Red Square.

Basically, all the way until Red Square, Gao Yang was in a bit of a daze.

Getting out of the taxi, Yarebin stood there for a long time. He stared at the Kremlin for a long while, and finally, he lowered his head.

"Go buy me a bouquet of flowers."

Yarebin finally spoke, and Gao Yang immediately took off at a run, quickly coming back hugging a big armful of flowers.

Yarebin walked slowly toward the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. Gao Yang cradled the flowers, walking on Yarebin’s left, Glewatov on his right, and Joseph followed two steps behind Gao Yang.

Red Square is huge. Gao Yang felt it would be too tiring for Yarebin to walk all the way, so he moved to support him, but Yarebin impatiently shook off Gao Yang’s hand with a forceful swing.

Yarebin walked very slowly, but with firm steps. He came to stand in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

There were many tourists, but they could only watch and take photos from a distance; they weren’t allowed to approach.

There were Sentinels on both sides of the tomb, but they were there only to guard the fallen who slept there forever. Faces solemn, eyes fixed straight ahead, they wouldn’t stop anyone trying to get closer. The ones actually keeping order were the police standing in front of the tourists.

Yarebin reached out to take the flowers from Gao Yang. Holding the bouquet in his left hand and leaning on his cane with his right, he walked out through the not-so-dense crowd toward the famous eternal flame torch before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

A policeman came over and shouted at Yarebin, "Keep away, sir, step back."

Gao Yang took a step forward, but before he could speak, a middle-aged man in a suit suddenly moved up beside the policeman, tugged him aside, and began whispering to him.

Yarebin continued forward unimpeded. The nearby tourists thought they could follow along, but the policeman blocked them without hesitation.

Yarebin walked in front, continuing toward the eternal flame torch at the monument.

At this moment, another man in a suit stepped out. He quickly approached the Sentinels, seemed to show them something, then said a few words to the other Sentinel. After giving Yarebin a glance, he hurried away.

To Gao Yang, everything felt eerie.

Following close at Yarebin’s side, Gao Yang walked up to the torch.

On the greenish marble ground before the Pentagram-shaped Torch, there was an inscription that Gao Yang was very familiar with. He couldn’t help but softly read it out.

"Your name is unknown, your feats will live forever."

It was the first time Gao Yang had looked so closely at that line of inscription, the line that summed up Black Demon’s whole life.

Yarebin stood before the torch, looking down at the inscription carved into the ground, silent for a long time. Then he bent over and laid the flowers on the ground.

Just then, the two Sentinels suddenly shouted.

"Salute!"

The two Sentinels raised their ceremonial rifles, holding them upright in front of their chests with both hands. They were saluting Yarebin.

No Honor Guard, no military band, just two Sentinels guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier giving a rifle salute to an old man offering flowers.

Two young soldiers saluting an elderly man in his twilight years. Few people were present, but the courtesy was of the highest order.

Yarebin straightened his back. He shifted his cane to his left hand, lifted his head high, and snapped off a crisp, clean military salute with his right hand.

Yarebin lowered his hand, and a Sentinel called out loudly, "Salute over!"

Still staring straight ahead, gaze unshifted, the Sentinels had fulfilled their duty. Now Gao Yang knew what the man in the suit had said to them.

Yarebin stood with his head bowed for five minutes. Then he slowly turned and walked toward the red wall.

Gao Yang guessed where Yarebin was headed. He was surely going to the Kremlin Wall Cemetery.

Gao Yang sprinted off to buy another bouquet of flowers, then sprinted back to Yarebin’s side. He didn’t intend to have Joseph do this kind of thing.

All the way clear, Gao Yang followed Yarebin to the Kremlin Wall Cemetery, also known as the Graves of the Twelve Soviet Dignitaries.

The Kremlin Wall Cemetery sits along the red walls of the Kremlin. Buried here are Zhukov, Stalin, Jelensky, M.V. Frunze, Andropov.

Brezhnev is also buried here.

Sure enough, Yarebin didn’t go to anyone else’s grave to offer flowers. He went straight to the statue of Brezhnev.

Placing the bouquet beneath Brezhnev’s statue, Yarebin stared at it in silence for a long time.

After a very long while, Yarebin finally spoke in a low voice, "I came to see you. Just to see you. Soon I too will sleep forever beneath the earth, so I had to come here while I can still move around and take a look at you. There’s nothing much to say. Goodbye, Number One."

Yarebin turned around and said softly, "To the New Saintess Cemetery."

Gao Yang felt a bit off. An old man in his twilight years, coming to a cemetery to offer flowers and speak with his former leader—everything about it felt ominous to him.

Joseph flagged down a taxi. The four of them squeezed into it. Gao Yang didn’t know what this arrangement meant. If Yarebin could move around Moscow without any obstacles, then whoever had arranged all this should at least have prepared a car for him.

But they hadn’t. Gao Yang felt that maybe there was some special meaning in it.
