Maybe I really am a Villian
Chapter 256: Plan B
Then she slowly fell to the ground, her face touching the sand as she spoke in a completely dead tone.
"Yeah... you really are good at playing with people’s morale and will."
Asher looked at Raveena, whose face was now covered in sand, and then said with a confused expression, "I still have some ice cream left. If you want, you can eat it. You don’t need to eat the sand. It’s not even tasty."
Raveena slowly looked up at him, her eyes completely dead.
"Sometimes I wonder if you are stupid or smart."
Asher calmly replied, "I am a Coward, though."
’Fuck, not this shit again. Why did I even ask that?’ Raveena cursed internally.
She quickly changed the subject.
"Hey, if you fail, what happens then? Will you die?"
Asher replied calmly, "Yeah. I will die once again if I fail this time too."
Raveena looked at Asher with a serious expression before asking, "Aren’t you scared of failing and dying then?"
Asher looked at her with confusion before answering in a playful tone, "What is there to be scared of? I will just probably die and then stay trapped in some dark place that will try to break me for centuries. Eventually, I will break through it again and start everything once more."
He shrugged casually.
"It’s not like I will lose anything, since I have nothing to lose anyway."
...
Raveena stayed silent for a moment.
Asher then looked at her and asked, "It sounded depressing, isn’t it?"
Raveena simply nodded.
Asher thought for a moment before saying, "Well, let me rephrase it. I mean, I have everything I need, and that is myself. And I can’t ever lose myself, so there is nothing to worry about."
He took another sip of his juice before continuing.
"And I am 99.99% sure that my plan will work and that I will be successful this time. Because this time, I am not trying to destroy the board."
He smiled slightly.
"I am trying to escape the board."
Raveena looked at Asher and then simply sighed.
’Again, some stupid metaphor he is using that I don’t even understand. I am dying for sure, I think. Well, there is nothing I can do about it now. Whatever I choose, I will still die. Better to die later than now.’
After accepting her fate, Raveena slowly stood up and dusted the sand from her clothes.
"I don’t have any other option except trusting your plan, I guess."
She paused before looking at him again.
"By the way, what if your plan fails?"
Asher replied instantly, "Then we will use Plan B."
Raveena raised an eyebrow at the mention of Plan B.
"You also have a Plan B?"
She looked genuinely surprised.
"What is it?"
Asher replied instantly in a confident tone, "I don’t know. I haven’t made Plan B yet. I will make it when Plan A fails."
...
Raveena remained completely silent for a moment.
She stared at Asher as if her mind had stopped working.
Then, suddenly, she smiled.
It was a crazy smile, but there was also genuine happiness behind it. Tears of joy even began dripping down her face as she looked at him.
"I see... That’s good enough, I guess."
She wiped her tears and took a deep breath.
"So, I guess I should start breaking through to Immortal Rank now."
Asher looked at Raveena and then said calmly, "Good. Shoo, shoo. Now go away. I have important things to do."
Raveena looked at Asher and then replied, "I am not going anywhere until I break through to Immortal Rank. You have to stay here while I break through so that no one can interrupt me during it."
Asher looked at Raveena and then said, "Go to your house and break through there. I don’t have time to stand guard over you. I have to rank-push."
Raveena looked at Asher and replied, "If I go there as I am right now, they will just kill me. Do you think they will be happy to see me return? And do you really think my siblings will willingly give me the position of Head on their own?"
She shook her head.
"They never will. So I have to break through first. If you really want me to help you, then you have to guard me while I break through."
Asher just sighed.
"What a drag. Whatever, do it fast. I don’t have much time to waste on some mosquito."
...
Astrean Estate
Edward returned home, and as soon as Arthur noticed him arriving, he immediately approached him.
"What happened? Is everything alright? What happened there?"
Edward looked at Arthur and then said, "Let’s talk later. First, I need to talk with Asher alone. Call him right now."
Arthur had many questions after hearing Edward’s words, but he didn’t ask anything further. He simply nodded and said, "Alright."
He immediately called Asher and then left the room, leaving Edward alone inside.
After Arthur left, the phone continued ringing for a while. Asher didn’t pick up immediately.
While the call kept ringing, Edward remained silent, his mind filled with countless thoughts and questions.
He considered several possibilities, trying to decide what would be the most important thing to ask Asher.
Finally, after several rings, Asher picked up the call.
His image appeared on a large projection in front of Edward.
It was afternoon, and the sight on the other side was completely unexpected.
Asher was lying comfortably on his bed, a blanket covering most of his body. His hair was slightly messy, and his eyes looked sleepy, as if he had only just woken up.
He stared at Edward through the projection for a few seconds before saying nothing, seemingly still half-asleep.
And then he said in a sleepy tone, "What happened now? Who calls at this time? It’s time to sleep right now. You should be sleeping too."
He paused for a moment and then made an expression as if he had suddenly realized something.
