Chapter 246: Reducing Reality into the Six Directions
The snowy plains of Bing Province stretched endlessly beneath a vast white sky.
Aside from the snow falling across the heavens and earth, there was nothing else to be seen.
The mysterious great being who had employed an supreme divine ability to seal Sun Lang into a single sheet of white paper had never revealed their true form from beginning to end.
Instead, it was Zhao Cheng who cried out in shock, exposing the secrets behind this heaven-defying technique with a single sentence.
“This is the supreme divine ability of the Novelist lineage, [Reducing Reality into the Six Directions]!”
“It is said that only Sages of the Heaven-Earth realm can perform it. When did Great Qian have another Sage still living?”
Zhao Cheng’s eyes were filled with shock and disbelief.
“Reducing Reality into the Six Directions?”
Li Shun searched through his memories concerning this divine ability, yet his gaze remained fixed upon the sheet of white paper floating between heaven and earth.
After Sun Lang had been sealed, the sheet of white paper did not remain completely unchanged.
Although he had been compressed into two dimensions and forced into the paper, Sun Lang remained completely motionless only for a brief period.
Moments later, the figure of Sun Lang, seemingly outlined from countless strands of ink, actually began to writhe across the surface of the paper.
He looked utterly deranged as he frantically surveyed his surroundings, desperately searching for a way to break the deadlock and escape.
Li Shun could not imagine what this paper-transformed world looked like from Sun Lang’s perspective.
To an outsider like Li Shun, Sun Lang merely appeared to be spinning around absurdly in place, never actually moving even a fraction from his original position.
“Reducing Reality into the Six Directions is indeed a Sage-level divine ability of the Novelist lineage.”
“Reducing Reality means forcibly erasing an enemy’s real existence from the present world. Entering the Six Directions means capturing and imprisoning them within the Six Directions Heaven and Earth created by the Novelist lineage. This method can not only erase a formidable enemy from existence, but can also open up an independent Six Directions world. The Sage divine abilities of the Novelist lineage are truly unfathomable. They are in no way inferior to those of the Confucian and Historical lineages.”
Li Shun marveled inwardly.
The white paper sealing Sun Lang slowly began to rise.
In a trance, it seemed as though an unfathomable figure, steady and immovable like an abyss and a towering mountain, was about to gather it up from beyond the Nine Heavens.
“This Outer God infiltrator was suppressed this easily?”
Li Shun continued staring intently at the white paper.
After trying countless methods and finding himself unable to escape, Sun Lang suddenly became still.
In the next instant, his pupils were completely swallowed by dense blackness.
His face no longer bore the slightest trace of ferocity. Instead, it radiated an eerie sense of sanctity and solemn majesty.
Then, his head suddenly split open from within!
A bizarre bronze mask hidden inside was revealed.
Countless eyeballs covered its surface, each one flowing with dark-blue blood. Where the mask’s mouth should have been, however, was a brilliant nebula composed of viscous black grease and gray dead ash, slowly writhing and churning.
“An Outer God…”
The instant Li Shun witnessed the bizarre scene within the white paper, it was as though countless bolts of heavenly thunder simultaneously exploded within his sea of consciousness.
Even though he was not directly facing the Outer God, but merely seeing it through the two-dimensional lines produced by Reducing Reality into the Six Directions.
Even though what the white paper displayed was not the Outer God’s true body, but merely a projection manifested through an infiltrating descent.
The instant Li Shun laid eyes upon it, his sea of consciousness still seemed to boil violently.
He could feel that every inch of skin across his body had seemingly grown eyes identical to those on the bronze mask.
And that nebula seemed intent on swallowing his flesh and soul whole.
A horrifying scene unfolded.
Wispy strands of profound, illusory threads were forcibly stripped from Li Shun’s body, continuously surging toward the Outer God that had descended and manifested within the white paper.
It was not only Li Shun.
Even Zhao Cheng standing beside him, and the entire vast snowy plain of Bing Province, could not escape the Outer God’s indiscriminate devouring!
Heaven and earth suddenly lost all color, the world growing as dark as night.
Countless black-and-white threads of law manifested and converged in the void like silk being unwound.
In the end, they poured into the white paper sealing the Outer God like a hundred rivers flowing into the sea.
Heaven and earth fell into violent upheaval.
The very boundaries of the present world began to grow illusory and indistinct.
Meanwhile, the once blank surface of the sealing paper began to bizarrely reveal countless chaotic and disordered lines as the Outer God devoured everything without restraint.
Those ink lines seemed to be frantically weaving and depicting an alien world.
At times, they seemed to be calling out into the boundless void, summoning its countless billions of fanatical believers.
“Great benevolence is not benevolence. Great righteousness severs even familial bonds. The benevolence of womenfolk pities a single corner while throwing the greater order into chaos; the benevolence of a gentleman upholds the Spring and Autumn and thereby establishes order throughout heaven and earth…”
Just as Li Shun’s mind was on the verge of collapse and his will was about to become completely submerged within the world depicted on the paper, Zhao Cheng’s resonant chanting suddenly awakened him.
What Zhao Cheng was reciting was none other than the grand guiding principles of the Spring and Autumn Brush lineage!
With his consciousness temporarily restored, Li Shun immediately guarded his original heart, relying upon his own Confucian belief in Righteous Qi to desperately resist the Outer God’s corrupting evil.
And during that brief contact moments ago, Li Shun had also learned the name of the Outer God that was eroding Sun Lang.
[Hunlun Chi Form]!
The pressure it brought upon Li Shun was in no way inferior to that of the [Formless Suspended Skull] he had encountered previously.
Even with all his strength, Li Shun ultimately remained unable to resist the erosion of this Outer God.
To his horror, he discovered that a faint, seemingly nonexistent layer of bronze mask had already quietly appeared across the surface of his face.
Moreover, that cold bronze substance was continuously and cruelly sinking its roots into the depths of his flesh.
The entirety of Great Qian’s Bing Province was likewise like a dying candle flickering in the wind, teetering on the brink of extinction.
The sealing white paper had transformed into a colossal vortex capable of swallowing heaven and earth, greedily sucking in everything around it.
Heaven and earth seemed to be returning to primordial chaos, while all things were completely powerless to resist.
Just as the situation became increasingly precarious, with [Hunlun Chi Form] devouring everything without restraint, a hazy and illusory figure suddenly manifested without warning amid the boundless heavens and earth.
The instant this phantom appeared, all things froze.
Space and time fell into deathly stillness in an instant.
The phantom faced [Hunlun Chi Form] within the paper from across the void.
The bronze mask that was almost fully formed upon Li Shun’s face suddenly faded beneath this peerless pressure.
In its place, at some unknown point, Li Shun found himself draped in a profound black robe as dark as the night.
“Taiyi Xuanpin.”
It was merely a strand of lingering imprint left behind in the heavens and earth of Great Qian, yet it still possessed a majesty that looked down upon the ages.
It stood in opposition to the projection of [Hunlun Chi Form], neither side yielding to the other.
After remaining motionless for a brief moment, the vortex devouring everything between heaven and earth suddenly began spinning even more frantically.
Only this time, its target had changed.
It no longer sought to devour the myriad things of the surrounding world.
Its sole target was the phantom of [Taiyi Xuanpin] before it.
Yet even a force powerful enough to make heaven and earth change color was completely incapable of affecting Taiyi Xuanpin.
It could not even stir the corner of the black robe.
Then Li Shun saw something astonishing.
The sealing white paper seemed to have suddenly donned a black robe of its own.
The previously distinct lines depicting [Hunlun Chi Form] instantly became somewhat dimmer.
Yet he showed no anger, apprehension, or resistance whatsoever.
He did not even make a single movement that could be considered a counterattack.
The change appeared silently.
The sheet of sealing white paper suddenly began folding itself in a manner utterly incomprehensible to ordinary people.
