Chapter 245: A Single Sheet Suppresses Gods and Demons
Sun Lang’s body visibly began to distort. As the Great Jun Millstone ground down inch by inch, the vitality within his body was brutally drained, and his entire being was forcibly melted into that terrifying millstone.
Shentu Xin, who had gone ahead of him, had long since been drawn inside. He had become nothing more than a vein of flesh and blood etched across the millstone. Only his maniacal, hysterical roar continued to reverberate through heaven and earth.
“I came forth from the place of birth, and I shall return to the Void of Annihilation!”
“Junior Brother Sun, since you claim to be the orthodox heir of the Jun School, surely you will not reject this destiny, will you?”
“Then let the two of us return to the Great Jun together!”
Shentu Xin’s move was clearly driven by the resolve to perish alongside his enemy.
Although the towering phenomenon of the Great Jun radiated an overwhelming aura and covered only an area of several dozen feet without expanding outward, Li Shun still sensed a fatal danger from the side and instinctively retreated at full speed.
The millstone turned, devouring all things.
The fundamental laws underlying this world shattered inch by inch beneath its grinding force. At the very center of its suppression, everything had already collapsed into a region of absolute blackness, a void of utter darkness. Even the Outer God contamination wrapped around Sun Lang’s body could not escape the fatal pull of the mighty Great Jun.
“Return to the Great Jun…”
There was not the slightest trace of fear in Sun Lang’s pitch-black eyes. Instead, a fervor identical to Shentu Xin’s ignited within them.
“If you possess such resolve to die, how could I, Sun Lang, be even half a step weaker than you?”
Rather than retreating, the destructive aura originating from the same source erupted from his entire body.
With this additional force, the Great Jun Millstone, which had originally been turning slowly, suddenly accelerated several times over.
Invisibly, Li Shun felt his body sink.
For some inexplicable reason, he began falling toward the millstone.
He was not being dragged along by some force.
Instead, the very space in which he stood had been forcibly severed and shifted forward.
Li Shun’s heart pounded wildly. He immediately stirred the Principle Qi throughout his body and fled frantically outward.
“This is the Jun School’s secret art, Great Jun Assimilation.”
“A technique of mutual destruction. Once unleashed, an area spanning a hundred li will instantly become a dead zone. Only after several days will life begin to emerge again.”
Zhao Cheng’s voice was solemn as he transmitted these words.
The two crazed heirs of the Jun School returning to the Great Jun together seemed to be the best possible outcome.
But Li Shun knew perfectly well that although Sun Lang might willingly accept death, the Outer God lurking deep within his soul would absolutely never stand by and watch its pawn perish so easily.
Sure enough.
At the instant Sun Lang was completely swallowed by the millstone...
An indescribable and terrifying force suddenly descended.
The Great Jun Millstone, which had been grinding relentlessly with unstoppable momentum, was forcibly jammed.
It came to an abrupt halt.
The entire icy wilderness fell into absolute silence.
“Glu... gulp, gulp...”
A sticky, nauseating sound resembling the chewing and swallowing of some enormous creature suddenly rang out through the void.
Li Shun stared intently at the space before him.
The Great Jun Millstone, which represented the supreme principle governing the circulation of heaven and earth, was visibly growing dim.
It was as though, within the shadows where the light could not reach, an invisible abyssal maw was slowly devouring the laws of the Great Dao of this world, bite by bite.
The chewing sounds were sickening.
The phantom of the millstone grew increasingly faint.
In the end, it was as though someone had forcefully wiped it away with a rag.
It vanished completely.
And yet Shentu Xin and Sun Lang, whose bodies had already been ground to pieces, suddenly fell out of the void as though time itself had reversed.
They reappeared once more.
At first, both men looked bewildered.
But as their memories returned, they immediately understood what had happened.
Shentu Xin stared furiously at Sun Lang, his eyes nearly splitting with rage as he roared hoarsely,
“You have brought shame upon our sect!”
Yet even a supreme technique like Great Jun Assimilation had failed to do anything to their opponent.
After his initial fury, Shentu Xin instead gradually calmed down.
Sun Lang, on the other hand, was in a completely different state.
The black contamination within his eyes surged wildly like a rising tide.
His entire body trembled, while his face twisted violently.
Clearly, he was caught in an intense struggle between two wills.
He was still resisting the will of the Outer God that was attempting to seize his body.
Seeing this, Li Shun immediately recalled Kong Changqing’s warning to him about “maintaining the balance.”
He immediately stepped forward and shouted sternly, “Regardless of which of you two is truly the orthodox heir of the Jun School, beneath heaven, is there anywhere that does not belong to the Emperor?”
“Shentu Xin, you are a subject of Great Qian, yet you disregard the law and recklessly destroy an imperial mausoleum. What crime do you think you deserve?!”
Shentu Xin sneered, his eyes filled with contempt.
“A minister of Great Qian? This world belongs to everyone beneath heaven. Since when has it belonged solely to your Great Qian...”
Before he could finish, Li Shun forcefully interrupted him.
“Traitor! You are already facing death, yet you still dare to spout such nonsense!”
Boom!
Streaks of golden ancient script condensed out of the void.
Li Shun and Zhao Cheng joined forces with perfect understanding, instantly laying down a killing formation that trapped Shentu Xin firmly at its core.
Although Shentu Xin’s cultivation far surpassed theirs, he had just forcibly executed a supreme technique of mutual destruction and was already at the end of his strength.
For a time, the two managed to hold him back, their battle locked in a stalemate.
But Shentu Xin’s strength was ultimately formidable.
As time passed, he gradually recovered.
Seeing that he was about to break free once more, Li Shun immediately shouted furiously toward the side,
“Brother Sun, what are you waiting for? Help me capture this traitor!”
Sun Lang, who had been locked in a tug-of-war between consciousnesses, was jolted awake by the shout.
The surging blackness in his eyes receded by more than half in an instant.
He stared fixedly at Shentu Xin and muttered as though possessed,
“Senior Brother Shentu... you should surrender peacefully.”
At this moment, he had completely abandoned the struggle over orthodox inheritance.
There was only one obsessive thought forcibly branded into his mind.
Suppress Shentu Xin!
With Sun Lang joining the battle, Shentu Xin immediately fell into a disadvantageous position.
Yet he showed no intention of fleeing.
He merely burned the last remnants of his Life Qi, fighting desperately like a cornered beast.
Principle Qi surged and collided.
Across the icy wilderness of Bing Province, snowstorms swept through the heavens.
And amid the fierce battle, Li Shun keenly sensed something.
From the moment they had stepped into Bing Province, it had seemed as though some invisible rule had been quietly taking shape within this world.
And now...
That thing had finally fully manifested.
A sudden change occurred on the battlefield.
After being surrounded and attacked by the three of them, the Life Qi within Shentu Xin’s body was finally burned away completely.
His flesh turned as pale as paper.
Yet at the very moment he reached the end of his strength, his battered and broken body suddenly twisted.
It flattened.
It became transparent.
It was as though he had transformed into a strange sheet of paper, thin as a cicada’s wing.
Riding upon the raging winds, it suddenly descended over Sun Lang’s head before he could react.
A trace of astonishment flashed through Sun Lang’s eyes.
This was clearly not a divine ability belonging to the Jun School.
He instinctively tried to break free.
Yet the transparent white paper possessed neither tangible form nor substance.
It seemed to exist only as a concept.
No matter how violently Sun Lang stirred his Principle Qi, he could not affect the white paper in the slightest.
He had originally been a three-dimensional existence within reality.
Yet as the white paper gradually enveloped him, Sun Lang seemed to be slowly falling into the two-dimensional plane of the paper itself.
Li Shun could even clearly see Sun Lang’s face reflected upon the white paper, his features filled with terror.
“What kind of divine ability is this?”
Li Shun immediately thought of the Historian School’s Heavenly Being Authored the Codex.
But he quickly realized that this was merely using Shentu Xin’s body as a medium.
It was not the power of the Historian School.
Li Shun raised his head and looked into the distance, attempting to find the person behind this mysterious divine ability.
