Marvel: I Am The Lord of the Shadow Dimension
Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Luke at Full Power
Thanks to the tactical intelligence provided by Frenzy, a massive squad of elite Decepticons converged on the Hoover Dam. The sky above the desert suddenly rained fire as dozens of Decepticon protoforms plummeted from the upper atmosphere, violently crashing into the canyon surrounding the dam.
"We are surrounded! Autobots, establish a defensive perimeter! We must hold the line until Bumblebee secures the AllSpark!" Optimus Prime ordered, his expression grave as he watched the growing number of Decepticon warriors rising from the craters.
"We will draw their fire! Humans, provide covering fire from the flanks!"
In the heat of battle, Optimus Prime showed absolutely zero hesitation. His commands were crisp, decisive, and carried an undeniable weight.
Some of the human soldiers, initially reluctant to take orders from a giant alien robot, felt an inexplicable surge of courage and loyalty upon hearing his voice, and immediately scrambled to their positions.
Optimus felt the shift in their morale. He didn't know if it was his own innate leadership or the power of the Matrix of Leadership resting within his chest, but any fleeting doubts he had vanished. He stood tall, radiating absolute confidence. 1
Starscream (F-22 Raptor), Barricade (Police Mustang), Brawl (M1 Abrams Tank), and Blackout (MH-53 Helicopter) appeared from different directions, leading a massive horde of Decepticon foot soldiers. These mechanical giants, standing dozens of feet tall and wielding massive, destructive plasma cannons, bore the terrifying purple insignia of the Decepticons on their armored chassis.
Looking at the hundreds of heavily armed Decepticons, and comparing them to his squad of just six Autobots and a handful of human soldiers with small arms, Optimus did not despair.
He had faced vastly worse odds during the darkest days of the war for Cybertron.
"Use the dam's structure for cover! The moment Bumblebee secures the Cube, we fall back!" 'Or we destroy it right here,' Optimus added silently to himself.
The human soldiers rapidly retreated into the massive access tunnels of the dam. The walls were hundreds of feet thick; the Decepticons couldn't just casually blast their way through the solid concrete.
"OPEN FIRE!" Starscream, Megatron's treacherous second-in-command, screeched, leading the assault.
A relentless barrage of plasma fire, missiles, and heavy artillery rained down on the Hoover Dam. The surface of the concrete was blasted into chunks, but the incredibly dense internal structure remained sound.
"Ironhide! Lay down cover!" Optimus ordered. Optimus didn't possess any massive, area-of-effect ranged weapons. In fact, most Autobots specialized in precise, close-quarters combat. But Ironhide was the glorious exception.
"With pleasure!" Ironhide roared. He aimed his massive, dual-arm plasma cannons toward the sky and unleashed hell.
Dozens of high-explosive grenades launched in perfect parabolic arcs, landing directly in the center of the advancing Decepticon vanguard and blowing several grunts into scrap metal.
"And here's a little surprise for the rest of ya!" Ironhide cheered maniacally. He fired several specialized canisters that didn't explode upon impact. Instead, they detonated directly in front of the tunnel entrance, rapidly deploying a massive, incredibly dense cloud of dark grey smoke that completely obscured the Autobots' position.
"Get inside! That smoke is laced with microscopic reflective chaff; it'll scramble their optics and targeting sensors for a while," Ironhide yelled to the others while casually tossing a few high-explosive proximity mines into the smoke cloud just to be safe.
Optimus nodded approvingly, leading the group behind the first major bend in the tunnel to take cover.
"What's the plan?" Brawl's voice grumbled over the Decepticon comms channel, perfectly comfortable remaining in his heavily armored tank mode.
Starscream's optics narrowed cunningly. "The Autobots are attempting to stall for time. This plays perfectly into my strategy. Do not rush them blindly. Send a vanguard squad into the smoke to flush them out. I know the Autobot who deployed that smokescreen; he is their weapons specialist. It is undoubtedly a trap."
The Decepticon grunts, entirely unaware that their commander had just casually offered them up as cannon fodder, cautiously advanced into the dense smoke. A few seconds later, a series of deafening explosions rocked the tunnel entrance, and several severed mechanical limbs flew out of the smoke cloud.
Barricade coldly crushed the severed head of a dead Decepticon grunt beneath his tire. "Pathetic insects. Their struggles are meaningless."
Starscream crossed his arms, smirking. "It appears they have retreated deeper into the facility. According to Frenzy's schematics, they are likely taking cover behind the first major structural bend."
Staring at the smoke that refused to dissipate even after the explosions, Starscream quickly adjusted his tactics.
"If they wish to cower and stall for time... let them! Decepticons! Focus all firepower on the dam!"
The Decepticon army turned their heavy weapons on the massive concrete structure and began a relentless, concentrated bombardment.
Simultaneously, on the far side of the Hoover Dam, several massive construction vehicles rolled onto the scene. Receiving their orders, they rapidly began transforming and combining, merging into a colossal, fifty-meter-tall mechanical titan: Devastator.
Devastator's massive, turbine-like hands began furiously excavating the rock and concrete above the facility. Nearby, Scorponok—a massive, mechanical scorpion—used his specialized drill-claws to burrow directly into the ground, followed closely by Ravage, a mechanical panther, slipping into the ventilation shafts.
Even sheltered deep within the dam, Optimus could feel the entire structure violently shaking from the relentless bombardment outside.
Jazz dusted off his chassis. "Are we seriously just gonna sit here and let them blast the roof down on our heads?"
"We are fighting a defensive action," Optimus stated firmly. "The longer they waste time bombarding the exterior, the more time Bumblebee has to secure the AllSpark!"
"You guys seem to be in a bit of a tight spot?"
Luke casually strolled around the corner of the tunnel. A thin, perfectly smooth layer of dark energy hovered just above his head, silently catching and neutralizing all the falling concrete dust.
"Whoa, that is a seriously stylish trick. Gotta admit, that looks incredibly convenient!" Jazz whistled, thoroughly impressed by the aesthetic.
Luke smiled. He really liked Jazz.
"I left a few of my guys back in the freezer room to babysit the giant popsicle, just to make sure my new power bank doesn't run away," Luke added casually.
Meanwhile, back in the Sector 4 freezer room.
Captain Lennox and his Ranger squad looked nervously around the massive cavern.
"Uh... Captain? Do they really need us here?" one of the soldiers whispered.
Lennox looked at the literal army of pitch-black, heavily armed Shadow Ninjas clinging to every single wall, ceiling, and structural pillar in the room, completely surrounding the frozen Megatron. Standing directly at the base of the ice block were dozens of massive, five-meter-tall Troll Ninjas, repeatedly cracking their boulder-sized knuckles, just waiting for the Decepticon leader to thaw out so they could brutally jump him. 2
Lennox looked down at the standard-issue M4 carbine in his hands and suddenly felt incredibly inadequate.
Back in the tunnel, Luke peeked around the corner, looking at the dense, unnatural smoke cloud completely obscuring the entrance. He glanced at Ironhide with genuine respect.
"That's some impressive gear you've got. The smoke hasn't dissipated at all."
"It's a custom-synthesized aerosol particulate I designed ages ago. Nasty little toy," Ironhide boasted proudly.
Luke nodded. "How many Decepticons are outside?"
Ratchet accessed his tactical logs. "Approximately 137 hostiles, including the high-value lieutenants."
'Exactly 137? So much for 'approximately,' Luke thought, amused by the robot's precision.
"Alright then. The sooner we finish this, the sooner I can go to sleep. I'll go clear them out," Luke said casually, cracking his neck.
Luke genuinely looked down on the Decepticons in this universe. In the second movie, a coordinated strike by the US military with standard heavy ordnance was enough to completely wreck them. There was absolutely no reason he couldn't annihilate them. After all, he was currently at his absolute "Full Power" state.
Optimus opened his mouth to object, but seeing Luke's absolute, unshakable confidence, he remained silent. Instead, Optimus reached out and took a massive plasma rifle from Ironhide.
Optimus racked the charging handle with a deafening CLACK. "We will follow your lead... my friend."
Seeing Optimus's determined optics, Luke smiled. He casually swiped his hand through the air, ripping open a massive portal directly to the Dark Dimension.
Instantly, an incomprehensible, terrifying ocean of pure dark energy violently erupted from the portal, flooding down the tunnel like a raging, pitch-black river.
"By the AllSpark! My energy sensors are completely overloading!" Ironhide yelled in absolute shock. The sheer density of the energy flooding past them made the massive plasma cannons in his hands feel like cheap children's toys.
"This is my true power," Luke said calmly.
The dark energy swirled around him, rapidly condensing into his signature, pitch-black hooded cloak. He pulled the hood up, cracked his knuckles, and offered Optimus a confident grin before stepping forward, completely dissolving into the roaring torrent of dark energy.
"Whoa... is he gonna be okay?" Jazz muttered, staring blankly at the fading river of darkness.
Outside the dam, Starscream was gleefully ordering the Decepticons to continue their bombardment when his internal energy sensors suddenly began blaring a critical warning.
Watching the energy readouts spike exponentially, Starscream was literally speechless.
"What kind of energy signature is this?! Is this the raw power of the AllSpark?!"
Every single Decepticon instinctively stopped firing, staring down at their HUDs as the energy readings skyrocketed off the charts. And then...
Their worst nightmare materialized.
A massive, roaring river of pitch-black energy violently burst through the smoke cloud at the tunnel entrance, surging into the sky and coalescing into a colossal, terrifying serpent made of pure darkness.
"What in the Pits of Kaon is that thing?!" Even the massive Blackout cursed in shock. Was this a natural phenomenon of Earth?!
"There's a human standing on top of it!" Barricade roared, drawing the attention of the entire Decepticon army.
Standing atop the head of the colossal dark serpent, looking down at them like insignificant insects, was a tiny, cloaked figure.
'You seem eager for a war?' A cold, flat telepathic message violently bypassed their firewalls and echoed directly inside their audio processors. 'Then let us have a war.'
Luke casually raised his hand.
The colossal dark serpent instantly expanded, its massive, undulating body completely blotting out the sun. The entire canyon was plunged into absolute, pitch-black darkness, leaving the towering mechanical giants standing in the freezing shadows.
"Welcome to my realm. The Shadow Realm." 1
Luke spread his arms wide, basking in the single, narrow beam of sunlight that illuminated only him, looking like a gracious king welcoming guests to their execution.
He lowered his hand.
The sky-spanning dark serpent instantly shattered into hundreds of violent, roaring torrents of dark energy, plummeting from the sky like a localized apocalypse.
"Scrap!" Barricade cursed, desperately diving to the side as a torrent of darkness crashed down where he had just been standing.
His subordinates were not so lucky.
The dark torrents violently crashed into the Decepticon grunts. The moment the pitch-black energy touched them, the massive mechanical warriors were instantly, silently consumed and assimilated into nothingness. Not a single scrap of metal, not a single drop of energon was left behind. Even a severed mechanical head lying on the ground from the earlier minefield was swept up and erased from existence.
The dark torrents seemed utterly relentless, shifting and morphing into a massive, fanged serpent head that slowly turned its hollow eyes toward Barricade.
Barricade stared at the dark serpent in absolute, primal terror. He glanced around the canyon. In mere seconds, the massive army of over a hundred Decepticons had been completely eradicated. The only ones left standing were himself, Starscream, Brawl, and Blackout.
He suddenly realized he hadn't dodged the attack; the enemy had intentionally spared them.
The sun shone down on him again, but Barricade felt absolutely no warmth. The dark serpent's tongue flicked through the air, slowly slithering toward him like a predator savoring its prey.
"Scrap! SCRAP!" Barricade frantically scrambled backward, his tires spinning in the dirt.
Suddenly, the serpent's tail violently whipped down, striking the concrete mere inches from Barricade's chassis. There was no explosion, no sound. But when Barricade looked at the impact site, his core processor froze.
The thick, reinforced concrete had simply ceased to exist. A massive, perfectly smooth crater had been instantly hollowed out, revealing the raw dirt beneath. Not even dust remained.
Another tail swipe lashed out. Barricade frantically rolled to the side, violently crashing into another heavy chassis. He looked up and saw Brawl.
Glancing around, Barricade realized the four surviving lieutenants had been intentionally herded together by the dark serpents.
Having completed their task, the dark serpents dissolved back into a massive, swirling torrent of energy, trapping the four Decepticons in a localized, pitch-black hurricane. The terrifying pressure of the dark energy grinding against their armor sent critical failure warnings across all their internal systems.
Finally, all the dark energy violently surged upward, coalescing into a colossal, fifty-meter-tall humanoid giant made of pure shadow, hovering ominously in the sky.
Luke stepped out from the center of the giant's chest, slowly walking down an invisible staircase of dark energy until he hovered just above them.
"Submit, or be destroyed. It's a cliché ultimatum, but it never goes out of style."
The four Decepticons stood in terrified silence.
Suddenly, Brawl roared, instantly transforming his arm into a massive tank cannon and firing a high-explosive, armor-piercing shell directly at Luke.
The colossal shadow giant simply raised its hand. The tank shell struck the dark energy palm and was instantly, silently absorbed into nothingness.
"Well, that's unfortunate. I actually really liked the tank aesthetic," Luke sighed, rubbing his temples in mock disappointment.
In the next microsecond, the shadow giant brought its massive fist down.
There was no sound. No explosion. But when the fist lifted, the massive, heavily armored Decepticon known as Brawl had completely vanished from the face of the universe without even leaving a final word.
"While it's a shame I lost the tank model, the police cruiser and the helicopter are pretty cool too. And since you guys are supposed to be capable of scanning and mimicking any vehicle..."
Luke glanced at the remaining three. "...That means I only really need one of you to act as my personal chauffeur."
Starscream, possessing the greatest survival instinct in the universe, instantly dropped to his knees, violently slamming his metallic head against the concrete hard enough to crack it.
"Oh Great and Powerful Lord! Starscream pledges his eternal, unquestioning loyalty to you!"
Luke stared at the treacherous jet with absolute disgust. "Yeah, but I really don't like you."
Realizing his plea had failed, Starscream instantly transformed into his F-22 Raptor mode and ignited his afterburners, desperately trying to flee into the upper atmosphere.
A tendril of dark energy casually shot out from the giant, effortlessly catching the supersonic jet mid-air and silently assimilating Starscream into nothingness.
Luke turned back to Barricade and Blackout, who were currently frozen in absolute terror.
"Don't worry, boys. I just really hate treacherous, backstabbing cowards. But you two? I am highly satisfied with your performance..."
Having successfully "recruited" and thoroughly intimidated his two new personal chauffeurs, Luke happily molded a chunk of dark energy into a flying carpet and floated back toward the tunnel entrance.
Optimus Prime, the Autobots, and the human soldiers had charged out of the tunnel, weapons drawn, fully prepared for an apocalyptic battle... only to find an empty crater and Luke floating toward them on a magic carpet.
"So, how was that?" Luke grinned, striking a heroic pose with his hands on his hips. 'I am so incredibly badass right now. Just let me pose for a second.'
"I am genuinely starting to believe you come from a universe where people casually shatter planets for fun," Jazz admitted, lowering his weapon in absolute awe.
"Hey, we don't just shatter planets for fun! We only do it when it's absolutely necessary! Wait... did you guys seriously not believe me earlier?!" Luke asked, genuinely offended.
Suddenly, a deafening crash echoed from deep within the dam. A heavily damaged Decepticon jet awkwardly flew out of the tunnel, followed closely by a swarm of massive Troll Ninjas clinging to its wings. The Trolls brutally hammered the jet with their fists, violently forcing it to crash onto the pavement.
"Oh, look who decided to join the party! Another delivery straight to my front door!" Luke cheered, his eyes lighting up.
Seeing the terrifying, predatory look in Luke's eyes as he stared at the battered Megatron, Jazz quietly took a few steps backward, hiding behind Optimus Prime's massive leg.
Luke summoned a few more Troll Ninjas to firmly pin the struggling Megatron to the ground. After a brief telepathic exchange with his ninjas, Luke learned that Devastator had literally drilled a hole straight down through the roof of the dam, launching a surprise attack.
The sudden structural collapse had allowed Megatron to break free of his icy prison and attempt to escape, but he had immediately been dogpiled by the Trolls.
Knowing that Devastator was also currently being brutally beaten into submission by the Shadowkhan inside the dam, Luke relaxed. 'Actually, having a massive combiner robot like Devastator as a personal bodyguard back home would be pretty sick.'
Just then, the massive, glowing metallic cube of the AllSpark casually floated out of the tunnel, suspended in the air.
'Wait... what?! Where is the massive Autobot army?! Where is the backup?!'
Frenzy, holding the AllSpark above his head with both tiny hands, stumbled out of the tunnel, absolutely bewildered. His oversized mechanical eyes darted around the empty canyon, completely confused as to why Starscream and the massive Decepticon army he had called weren't here.
He and Ravage had followed Scorponok into the vault. They had arrived just in time to see Bumblebee attempting to secure the AllSpark. The three Decepticons had immediately ambushed him, but Bumblebee had actually managed to fight them off!
In the chaos, while Bumblebee was distracted literally ripping Ravage apart, Frenzy had managed to grab the AllSpark and make a mad dash for the exit, completely abandoning his teammates.
He had successfully escaped with the ultimate prize! But now... there was no one here to give it to.
"Well, isn't that convenient," Luke smiled, ordering a Shadow Ninja to casually walk over, pick Frenzy up by the neck, and take the AllSpark from his tiny hands.
'What incredible delivery service! Five stars on Yelp for sure!'
