Chapter 573: Chapter 573 looks familiar.
"Besides, Thanos is definitely going to appear last. Aside from Thanos, who else on the opposing side could possibly be my match?"
Thor’s arrogance was palpable.
He firmly believed he was one of the strongest combatants in the Earth faction, and only Thanos was worthy of being his opponent.
This statement made everyone suddenly realize something, and they all fell into deep thought.
They recalled the lineup presentation before the match started—Thanos’s faction.
Aside from Thanos himself, there was Starfox Eros, The Hood, Proxima Midnight, Iron Judge, and Ebony Maw, who had just turned into an ice cube.
There were only six people in total.
There was still one person who had never appeared in everyone’s sight.
This unknown uncertainty pressed down on everyone’s hearts like a heavy stone.
They didn’t know who the seventh enemy was, nor did they know what kind of power the other party possessed.
On the battlefield, this kind of uncertainty was often the most fatal.
"Relax, guys." Peter Parker spoke up, trying to break the gloomy atmosphere.
He smiled optimistically and said, "Maybe Thanos didn’t even gather seven people to begin with. After all, finding seven experts willing to risk their lives for him isn’t easy. If that’s the case, won’t we win for sure?"
"Not necessarily, kid."
Steve Rogers shook his head with a solemn expression.
As a battle-hardened tactical master, he was always accustomed to thinking about situations in the worst possible direction.
"Don’t underestimate Thanos. If Thanos wins against us in the upcoming match, the score will become two to three. By the seventh match, he can completely choose to forfeit proactively."
"Forfeit?" Peter was stunned.
"Yes." Steve nodded. "If he forfeits, the score will return to a three-to-three tie, thereby triggering an overtime match."
"According to the Grandmaster’s new rules, Thanos can completely repeat his appearance and fight again in the extra round. In the end, the pressure will still fall on Homelander."
Tony chimed in from the side, "Captain is right. Thanos would definitely pull off something like this. This means that in the upcoming match, we must win in order to pass the pressure back to Thanos."
"There’s no need to worry too much. I’ve got everything covered. Get ready for the sixth match," Homelander comforted calmly.
Sorcerer Ancient One silently stepped forward, golden magic light flowing across her fingertips.
She likewise inscribed the Protection Spell of Agamotto and the Substitution Spell onto Thor.
Thor instinctively wanted to refuse; as a god of Asgard, he had his own pride.
But the second before he spoke, the ruthless image of Thanos beating him up savagely on Sakaar flashed through his mind.
What if his opponent in the next match really turned out to be Thanos?
Although Thor was arrogant, he wasn’t stupid.
When facing a formidable enemy of Thanos’s caliber, every single safeguard was necessary.
"Thank you, Your Excellency Sorcerer." Thor voiced his gratitude.
Outside the platform, the Grandmaster’s voice resounded throughout the entire gladiatorial arena once again.
"Ladies and gentlemen! The exciting moment has arrived. The sixth duel is about to begin!"
The entire venue instantly quieted down, everyone holding their breath in concentration.
"First, let us welcome the representative of the Black Order!" the Grandmaster announced loudly. "He is the successor of the Black Order! Their new leader! He is the Dark Tyrant—Dago!"
The entire audience was in an uproar.
Gamblers from various galaxies looked at each other in dismay.
Dago? Who was this?
They had never heard of such a figure in the Universe.
But the title of "new successor of the Black Order" was enough to arouse intense curiosity in everyone.
At the same time, for aliens passionate about gambling, the unknown also meant huge risks.
"Dago? What crack in a rock did this monster jump out from? I’ve never heard of him at all!"
"Is Thanos just giving up? Finding a nobody to send to their death?"
"Don’t talk big, he gives me a creepy feeling. Look at him standing still, yet his aura is even more terrifying than Thanos’s."
The light of the Black Order’s teleportation array flashed, and a tall figure slowly walked out.
Dago stood under the spotlight with his hands behind his back.
His crimson eyes coldly swept across the spectator stands.
That was an absolute arrogance that viewed all living things as mere ants. The alien audience present was awed by this momentum, and the voices discussing him unconsciously became much quieter.
"This guy’s eyes are so terrifying, I feel like he wants to kill all of us. Just standing there, I feel like breathing is difficult."
On the preparation platform, Peter and Tony stared at the holographic screen with somewhat odd expressions.
"Mr. Stark..." Peter hesitated, "Do you think this guy named Dago looks a bit... familiar?"
Tony tapped his chin, his tone also somewhat hesitant: "Indeed, gray skin, a stone-like face... I always feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before."
Seeing that the two of them had strange expressions, Steve asked, "What’s wrong? Did you discover a problem?"
Peter scratched his head, pointing at Dago and saying, "It’s nothing, just that his appearance looks a bit like that super-big boss in the comics."
Because Darkseid’s appearance differed quite a bit from his comic book image on Earth, Peter and Tony only found it familiar for a moment and didn’t directly connect this person with the comic book character.
However, the netizens on Earth didn’t have this kind of thinking restriction.
"Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! Am I seeing things? Isn’t that Darkseid?!"
"Uncle Dark! Definitely Uncle Dark! Even though his appearance has changed a bit, I’d recognize that gray stone face and red eyes anywhere!"
"A comic book character suddenly appearing in reality? What kind of magical plot is this?!"
"Stop joking, it must just be some alien who happens to look like him. The Universe is so big, facial lookalikes are normal."
"I’m guessing it’s just a Universe cosplay enthusiast. Can’t aliens read comics too?"
"If he can really shoot Omega Beams, I’ll eat my keyboard."
On the field, the Grandmaster’s introduction continued.
"Next, let us welcome the representative of the Earth faction!" The Grandmaster’s voice rose again, filled with passion.
"He is the crown prince of Asgard! He is the god who commands thunder! Moreover, he is the undefeated champion of our Sakaar gladiatorial arena for dozens of consecutive matches! The King of Gladiators!"
"Let us cheer! Thor—Thor!"
Rumble!
Over Knowhere, following the Grandmaster’s announcement, thick bolts of lightning struck down from thin air.
The audience seemed to hear bursts of "Ahhh" chanting in their ears.
When the light dissipated, Thor was already standing at the edge of the field.
He held a battle-axe in his hand, wore gold-trimmed Asgardian-style armor, and his red cape fluttered behind him.
"Ooh-ooh-ooh—!"
And the audience on the scene gave plenty of face, with Earth-shattering cheers erupting from all directions.
