Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System
Chapter 1138 - 377: Goodwill from the World
Listening closer, however, this so-called "experience sharing" was nothing but a load of hindsight bullshit.
Su Yue had the illusion that he was listening to his own autobiography. After listening for over twenty minutes, he found it increasingly ridiculous. He wanted to step forward and expose the fraud’s true colors. Such scammers had to be severely punished; they needed to be sent to Shenchu City.
Unfortunately, his journey as an ordinary person was probably about to end. It was a bit of a pity.
"Nobody move!
"Everyone crouch down! Nobody moves!
"If anyone dares to try anything, our blades won’t show mercy!"
Just as Su Yue reached the limits of his patience, a group of Investigation and Arrest Bureau Martial Artists suddenly burst through the main doors. Within the audience, a group of people immediately whipped out their Investigation and Arrest Bureau badges.
A Martial Artist in the row right behind Su Yue was clearly an undercover agent as well. Without a word, he shoved Su Yue’s head down.
Su Yue wanted to resist. But on second thought, he realized he was just here to experience normal life, so why fight back? If he did, he’d only create a misunderstanding that he’d have to painstakingly explain later. Besides, the constant flashing lights made it clear that reporters were taking photos.
Once he got to the Investigation and Arrest Bureau and revealed his identity, the matter would be resolved. There was no need to make a big scene.
"Hmph, daring to run scams in Yu Liang City... Today, I’ll catch every last one of you."
After a brief period of chaos, all the Martial Artists in the venue were escorted onto the Investigation and Arrest Bureau’s vehicles. Outside the hotel, a long line of cars stretched all the way to the end of the road. Yu Liang City had even borrowed vehicles from two neighboring cities.
This massive fraud syndicate was finally entirely apprehended.
The spot where Su Yue was being detained happened to be not far from the Director.
"Director, Minister Wang Nanguo is coming to Yu Liang City for an inspection. Taking down a fraud syndicate right at this moment is truly a wonderful gift for the Minister."
The Deputy Director, personally escorting the fake Su Yue, beamed with joy. It was rare for Minister Wang Nanguo to visit, so they had to be on their absolute best behavior.
"Hmph, even if the Minister wasn’t coming, Yu Liang City’s public security is still top-notch.
"While the Martial Artists are fighting on the battlefield, we must protect their home front. Daring to impersonate even Su Yue... you must have a death wish."
The Director delivered a swift kick, nearly breaking the scammer’s leg.
"Officer, I’m just trying to make a living! Please be lenient!" The scammer wanted to cry but had no tears left.
He had been doing fine before. He would strike once and then move to a new location. He had already swindled a lot of money, and the market in Yu Liang City seemed decent enough. He never expected to be caught here. He had been incredibly cautious—he didn’t even dare sell tickets to Third-Grade Martial Artists, terrified of being exposed.
But in the end, he was still caught. It was just sheer bad luck. He had run straight into a severe crackdown!
"Hmph, the amount you’ve defrauded is massive. You’ll be sentenced to life in prison. Take him back!" the Director sneered.
In truth, this wasn’t limited to Yu Liang City. Scammers hosting fake Su Yue seminars could be found all over the country, though some operated on a smaller scale. With modern makeup and cosmetic surgery being so accessible, it had become a severe social issue.
Martial Artists in some smaller cities had no way of distinguishing the real Su Yue from the fakes. Some seminar tickets only cost a few hundred bucks, and these Martial Artists couldn’t exactly call West Martial to verify.
The scammers were cunning, too. Their targets were exclusively first- and second-grade Qi and Blood Martial Artists. Most of these Martial Artists had limited capabilities but still dreamed of overnight success. Crucially, the ticket prices weren’t overly expensive, making them easy prey. Even if they had their doubts about Su Yue, none of them would dare step up and question him.
In the Investigation and Arrest Bureau’s interrogation room.
Su Yue’s mask and hat were forcibly removed. The two interrogators were stunned.
Another imposter? Was this guy hiding in the audience to take notes? Scam syndicates these days were truly professional.
"Where’s your ID?" one of the interrogators asked.
"Didn’t bring it," Su Yue shook his head.
Never in his life did he imagine he would one day be on the receiving end of an interrogation. It was certainly a unique experience.
"What’s your name?
"Gender?
"Place of origin?" the interrogator asked routinely.
"Su Yue, registered in Cengyan City. You can look up my place of origin yourselves!" Su Yue answered.
THUD!
However, the hot-tempered interrogator slammed his fist on the table.
"Let me tell you, you’d better behave.
"You were just an audience member. The Investigation and Arrest Bureau was only going to let you off with a warning, so don’t ask for trouble.
"I don’t care if you were there to learn the tricks of the trade, and altering your face to look like Su Yue isn’t a crime in itself. This isn’t a big deal, so you’d better not waste everyone’s time."
The interrogator was infuriated. Was this guy so damn deep in character? Copying Su Yue’s face was one thing, but he was going to copy his name too?
"Say it again. What’s your name? Place of origin? And gender!" the interrogator demanded again.
"Su Yue, registered in Cengyan City. Male," Su Yue replied once more.
He had planned to catch up with Flower Bear early on, but now it seemed he had gotten himself into a mess. Had he known the Investigation and Arrest Bureau was going to sweep up the entire scam syndicate, he wouldn’t have bothered joining the crowd. What a complete waste of time.
"You... you’re asking for it!" The interrogator was furious. This guy was deliberately messing with them.
"Good day, Deputy Director!"
At this moment, a Fourth-Grade Deputy Director walked in.
"Oh? Scammers are forming study groups now? Were you there to take notes?" The Deputy Director was also a bit surprised upon seeing Su Yue.
"Have you verified his identity yet? Interrogate him thoroughly, follow the clues, and see if we can reel in another big fish.
"Interesting. Scammers nowadays keep up with the times. They even know how to learn from each other."
The Deputy Director scrutinized Su Yue for a few moments. Not gonna lie, his disguise was even more convincing than the mastermind they had just caught; there wasn’t a single trace of micro-surgery.
"Reporting to the Deputy Director, this imposter is way too deep in character. He claims he’s Su Yue, registered in Cengyan City. We need to continue the interrogation."
