Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System
Chapter 1137 - 377: Goodwill from the World
"Making a few dozen bucks less won’t starve me to death. Compared to the Martial Artists on the battlefield, we’re fortunate enough.
"When the warriors return, the least we can do is let our heroes feel the warmth of the common people."
The driver insisted on not taking any money.
Su Yue sighed. He had never realized that there were always people among the masses who kept Combat Martial Artists in their thoughts. Truthfully, Su Yue had grown increasingly numb to the praise of the strong. He had even gradually lost much feeling toward merits and money. But the taxi driver waiving the fare this time made Su Yue’s heart feel especially warm.
"Did you make a special trip to Yu Liang City to attend West Martial Su Yue’s lecture?" The taxi driver wore a knowing expression.
"A lecture?
"West Martial Su Yue?"
Su Yue was completely baffled. Was there another Martial Artist at West Martial with the exact same name? He hadn’t heard anything about that.
"Martial Artists really have it tough. A single lecture ticket costs fifty thousand bucks, but if you don’t come, you miss out on a powerhouse’s insights.
"That kid Su Yue has really made something of himself. He’s the pride of our Yu Liang City.
"You must have heard the legends about Su Yue. He really used to work as a human punching bag right here in Yu Liang City.
"The kid has a conscience, too. Even though he’s famous worldwide now, he hasn’t forgotten the folks back in Yu Liang City and even knew to come back to host a lecture.
"Huh? Coming here at this time, are you not going to the lecture?" The driver murmured to himself before asking Su Yue again.
"Yes, I’m going to the lecture. Let’s go!"
Su Yue’s eyes flickered. He thought, "I’ve been in the Wet Realm this whole time. When the hell did I ever host a lecture? Could there be a Li Gui posing as the real deal, trying to use my name to scam some money?"
He cursed inwardly, "Fuck!"
It was true that any forest big enough would have every kind of bird. Su Yue’s eyes were certainly opened today. He was determined to see just which Li Gui dared to impersonate him for a scam. He was absolutely furious.
With the driver chattering away the whole trip, Su Yue didn’t find the ride boring. Not long after, the taxi stopped in front of a magnificent, luxurious hotel. Su Yue got out of the car and thanked the driver. He wanted to pay, but the driver insisted on refusing. Eventually, Su Yue didn’t press the matter further.
"How professional," he murmured.
Above the hotel entrance hung a striking red banner, matching the grand scale of an office building welcoming an inspection from high-ranking officials. It clearly read: "Special Lecture by West Martial Su Yue". There was even a massive photo of himself at the door.
To dare use his name to commit fraud in broad daylight—it was absolute sheer audacity. What was even more exasperating was that the Yu Liang City Investigation and Arrest Bureau had actually dispatched personnel to maintain order. For a moment, Su Yue even felt as if he had traveled through time to another world.
Approaching the entrance, Su Yue explained that he didn’t have a ticket. The scam syndicate was highly professional. They skillfully presented QR codes for payment, and perhaps fearing that Martial Artists might have transaction limits, they had actually prepared five different QR codes. Su Yue hadn’t brought his phone, so he could only slip away in quiet defeat.
However, the First-Grade Martial Artist guarding the door failed to notice that while Su Yue was talking, he had already swiped an unsold ticket from his pocket. Just like that, Su Yue switched to a different entrance and successfully slipped into the venue.
The hotel’s venue was massive, and over three hundred Martial Artists had already gathered inside. Meanwhile, more Martial Artists were continuing to trickle in through the two sets of doors. He made a rough observation. First-Grade and Second-Grade Martial Artists made up the majority, and most of them were Qi and Blood Martial Artists. Those with any hope of breaking through to the Third-Grade were few and far between.
Su Yue sneered. He really wanted to see what kind of trash this scam syndicate would eventually send out to impersonate him.
After a brief wait, the lecture finally began. Before the opening, there was actually a dance performance. Although the dancing girls all had excellent figures, Su Yue had no time to pay attention to such things.
The warm-up ended. The main character finally took the stage.
He cursed internally, "Holy fuck!"
Upon seeing this "Su Yue" in person, Su Yue himself couldn’t help but admire the other party’s level of professionalism. His facial features shared a ninety percent resemblance to his own. From the makeup to the plastic surgery, the impostor had clearly put in serious effort. Even his body language and movements shared an uncanny likeness.
The crucial point was that the impostor had even imitated his strength as a Fourth-Grade Martial Artist to absolute perfection. Since it was a disguise, his age couldn’t be too far off from Su Yue’s own. This guy couldn’t possibly be older than twenty-five.
A twenty-five-year-old Fourth-Grade Martial Artist? If you went to the Military Department, you’d at least be a squad captain! Why would he come out here to run scams?
Wait, this guy was a Qi and Blood Martial Artist.
Then, Su Yue finally realized what was going on. The methods for a Qi and Blood Martial Artist to make money were limited to only a few ways.
The first was to become a leading figure in scientific research, just like Yan Dongyan and Xue Pinghai. Whether researching combat tactics, elixirs, or battle armor, they received subsidies from the Divine Land Government and could live very comfortable lives. Both their status and reputation would be fully guaranteed.
The second was to be a scumbag like Bai Zhiyong. Relying on their status as the descendants of heroes, they recklessly overdrew their parents’ reputations and could even morally blackmail a Marshal. These types of people controlled the lifelines of certain massive conglomerates and also lived very well. While there was no shortage of enterprises that truly wished to serve the Military Department, the waters were simply too muddy, and good people were ultimately in the minority.
The third was to be a scammer like this. If Qi and Blood Martial Artists wanted to break through, they could only rely on massive quantities of elixirs. But they lacked the courage to step onto the battlefield, which meant they had no military merits and certainly no raw materials to sell. For the sake of huge sums of money, quite a few Qi and Blood Martial Artists would resort to all sorts of crooked methods.
This Li Gui’s method was highly unorthodox. He even dared to scam the Investigation and Arrest Bureau.
Su Yue calmed himself down and watched to see how this scammer would impersonate him. He had to admit, the guy possessed a silver tongue. The reason scammers could successfully deceive people was that most of them possessed some extraordinary talent. Under this scammer’s persuasive smooth-talking, thunderous applause would erupt from the audience from time to time.
