Hearing this, Charles Prescott furrowed his brow. He walked out the door and was surprised to see Justin Shields standing there.

Charles was taken aback. "What are you doing here?"

Justin Shields had always been on Anne Sutton’s side, was on good terms with Ethan Linden, and Stella Shields also had a strong relationship with the Linden Family. As a result, he and Charles Prescott had never really gotten along.

They rarely interacted.

Justin Shields looked at Charles Prescott and said, "I heard you left SV?"

At the mention of this humiliating affair, Charles’s gaze dropped. "That’s none of your business!"

The whole incident had blown up, and he had lost all face.

Everyone knew how pathetically things had turned out for him, Charles Prescott.

He found it laughable himself.

Justin Shields said, "How about coming to work for my company?"

Hearing this, Charles looked up at him. "Why?"

’He’s so close to the Linden Family...’

’And he wants me to join his company?’

Justin Shields said, "I know you’re very capable, President Prescott. Besides, you don’t have anywhere else to go. You might as well give my company a try. What do you say?"

Charles said, "You should be aware of my relationship with Nathan Fawcett. He hates my guts. And I hear the Shields Family has many collaborations with the Linden Group."

Justin Shields replied, "My company is too small for him to bother with. If you have nowhere to go, think it over and come find me."

In Westhaven, very few companies dared to hire Charles Prescott.

None of them wanted to oppose the Fawcett Group or offend Nathan Fawcett.

Yet here was Justin Shields, of all people, extending an olive branch. Charles was quite surprised.

...

Today was Anne Sutton’s birthday. Nathan Fawcett was throwing a party for her and had booked a hotel specifically for the event.

In the afternoon, just as Anne was leaving work, Butler Walters arrived. "Ms. Sutton, the Master sent me to pick you up."

Seeing it was Butler Walters, Anne said, "It’s not like I can’t find the way. Why send someone to pick me up?"

"Happy birthday," Butler Walters said, being very polite to Anne.

Anne looked at him, figured it was probably Nathan Fawcett’s arrangement, and got into the car.

When they arrived at the hotel, Anne was first taken to change her clothes.

She sat before the mirror, watching the makeup artist work, and couldn’t help but admire Nathan Fawcett. ’He really thought of everything.’

Still, she wasn’t going to complain about getting beautiful makeup done for birthday photos.

She asked Butler Walters, "By the way, have my mother and Sharon arrived yet?"

Hearing her question, Butler Walters said, "They will be here shortly. They should be on their way now."

"And where’s Nathan Fawcett?" Anne asked, not seeing him around.

Butler Walters smiled. "You’ll see him soon enough."

Anne glanced at Butler Walters but didn’t press for more details.

A short while later, Ian and Finn arrived.

Ian walked up to Anne and said, "Mommy, happy birthday! You look so beautiful today!"

She was even wearing a tiara on her head.

It was a custom design from the makeup artist.

Anne looked at her son and said, "You’re such a sweet-talker. How was school today?"

"It was great."

While Anne was talking to Ian, Finn stood off to the side.

In his eyes, Nathan Fawcett was his father, but Anne Sutton wasn’t his mother, so he didn’t call her that.

Anne noticed him but didn’t hold it against him.

’He’s not my child, after all. There’s no reason he should have to call me ’Mom.’’

Anne said, "Finn."

Finn replied, "Auntie."

Anne asked, "Did Ian bother you again today?"

Hearing this, Ian quickly explained, "Mommy, I didn’t!"

Anne glanced at her son and chuckled.

Finn said, "No, he didn’t. Big Brother is very nice to me."

Hearing that, Anne asked, "Then why the long face?"

Finn lowered his head. "I’m not sad."

It was just that seeing Ian being doted on by his mother made him think of his own mom.

...

After Anne had been chatting with the two boys for a while, Nathan Fawcett arrived.

He was dressed quite handsomely today.

He walked in, saw that both children were there, and his gaze landed on Anne.

Anne was already very beautiful to begin with.

But now, all dressed up, she was so stunning one couldn’t look away.

He had the butler take the two children out and dismissed the makeup artist as well. His eyes remained fixed on Anne as he said, "You’re beautiful."

Anne looked at the man. "Isn’t this a little too grand for a birthday?"

"It’s what you deserve," Nathan Fawcett said, looking at her. "You look stunning."

His words made Anne laugh.

Nathan stood to the side, gazing at her tenderly. "Come on, let’s go eat."

"You didn’t invite a ton of people, did you?" Anne looked at him, wondering who he had asked to come.

Nathan said, "Not really. They’re all people you know."

When she went out, Anne saw that it was indeed all people she knew.

Besides her mother, her sister, and the members of the Linden Family, there were his own friends and a few of Anne’s colleagues.

When everyone saw Nathan walk in with Anne, they all began to applaud.

Sharon Sutton came to Anne’s side. "Sis, you look amazing today!"

Anne looked at her. "What, so I don’t normally look good?"

"You do, you do!" Sharon said. "Let’s take a picture."

Since she was so exquisitely dressed up for a change, she naturally had to take a few photos.

Sharon started taking pictures with Anne.

Nathan stood to the side, a smile playing on his lips as he watched Anne.

Caleb Summers walked over to Nathan. "Tsk tsk, you really went all out!"

Nathan shot him a look. "Shut up."

A smirk played on Caleb’s lips. "Oh my, I wonder how many girls are going to be heartbroken."

"Heartbroken about what?"

"The Family Head of the Fawcett Group is going to propose. Isn’t that heartbreaking?"

"Can’t you keep your mouth shut?" Nathan rolled his eyes at Caleb, then walked over and sat down next to Anne.

Anna Linden was also there today.

All the family was there.

It was a lively gathering with everyone sitting together.

Soon, a waiter wheeled out the cake.

Anne sat to the side, watching everyone’s enthusiastic faces.

She stood up and began to blow out the candles.

Then she started cutting the cake for everyone.

Halfway through cutting, she discovered a box inside the cake. Anne opened it and saw a ring.

"What is this?"

She looked at Nathan Fawcett.

Nathan took the ring, knelt on one knee before her, and said, "Anne, marry me. I know we’ve had a past that wasn’t always happy, but from now on, I hope you’ll give me the chance to take care of you."

Anne stared at Nathan, not expecting him to propose to her right then and there.

’Actually, he had been pretty obvious about it all.’

’After all, there was no need to make such a big deal out of a birthday.’

’It’s just that...’

Looking at the man before her, she remembered telling him that she didn’t plan on ever getting married.

Caleb Summers and a few of their buddies were cheering and hyping things up from the side. Everyone watching hoped she would accept Nathan’s proposal.

After all, the two of them were clearly in love with each other.
