Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 451: He is in Westhaven
"..." After hearing what Nathan Fawcett said, Anne Sutton felt a weight lift from her shoulders.
On the way to get dinner, she picked up her phone and called Sylvia Warren.
Sylvia Warren only picked up on the second try. "Ms. Sutton."
Anne Sutton asked, "Have you been to see Leo recently?"
At the mention of Leo, Sylvia Warren’s heart ached. "I went to see him once, but I was kicked out. Mia Shaw won’t let me go again. She said if I do, she’ll ruin my reputation and say I’m harassing her husband."
"..." Anne Sutton asked, "When you saw Leo, how was he doing?"
It would have been better if Anne Sutton hadn’t asked. The moment she did, Sylvia Warren’s tears started to fall. She had been working hard on her acting lately, forcing herself not to think about Leo.
She kept telling herself, ’As long as I don’t think about it, maybe Leo will be alright!’
She said, "Leo is not doing well. Mia Shaw is abusing him. The last time I took him to the hospital, his body was covered in injuries."
"You didn’t call the police?" Anne Sutton frowned.
She hadn’t expected Sylvia Warren to know about this.
Sylvia Warren said, "Calling the police is too much trouble. You know my status is rather sensitive."
"Your status? What status?" Anne Sutton said. "Isn’t your status Leo’s mother? Your child is in that state, and you’re not going to do anything?"
Sylvia Warren said, "I’ve already told Charles Prescott. He’ll take care of it, right? He was the one who kicked me out that day. He even said he was the one who hit him, that it had nothing to do with Mia Shaw. He’s protecting her like this, so there’s nothing I can do."
Just thinking about it put Sylvia Warren in a terrible mood.
Anne Sutton asked, "Charles Prescott knows about this too?"
She had originally thought Charles Prescott didn’t know, which was why Mia Shaw was being so audacious.
’Who would have thought Charles Prescott knew as well.’
Sylvia Warren nodded. "Yes! Mia Shaw is helpful to his career, which is why they got married. Why would he offend Mia Shaw for the sake of his child now?"
"So you’re not planning to do anything about the child?"
"Ms. Sutton... I can’t. I don’t know what I can do anymore!"
Hearing this, Anne Sutton was filled with rage.
’What is wrong with them?’
’Their own child is in trouble, and yet...’
’The father and mother won’t do a thing!’
’And here I am, worrying for them!’
Anne Sutton said, "Fine! If you won’t do anything, then just let your son get beaten to death! It’s Leo’s bad luck to be stuck with parents like you."
’This is their comeuppance!’
Anne Sutton was at a loss for words.
Sylvia Warren said, "Ms. Sutton, did you call because of Leo? Do you have a solution? Why don’t you call Charles Prescott and try to persuade him? If it’s you talking, he’ll definitely listen."
"Are you kidding me?"
Anne Sutton said, "I called to tell you about your own child’s situation, and now you want me to solve the problem for you? Figure out how to solve it yourself!"
After saying her piece, Anne Sutton angrily hung up the phone.
Nathan Fawcett, who was sitting beside her, looked at her. "How did it go?"
Anne Sutton let out a cold laugh and said to Nathan Fawcett, "So Charles Prescott and Sylvia Warren both know Leo is being beaten, but neither of them is doing anything about it. Tell me, how can there be parents like them in this world? It’s enough to make you die of anger."
The thought left Anne Sutton speechless.
’The child is so young. How could they bear it?’
Nathan Fawcett said, "Not everyone in this world is fit to be a parent."
After all, it’s not like you need to take a training course before becoming a parent.
And that’s precisely why there are so many poor, unlucky children in the world.
Anne Sutton sat to the side, rubbing the bridge of her nose, her own mood plummeting.
Ian and Finn were also there. The two little ones were sitting in the back seat, chatting.
Remembering that Leo was about their age, Anne Sutton had no idea what state he was in right now, and she was once again at a loss for words.
’His own parents don’t even care. Why am I so worried?’
Anne Sutton picked up her phone, thought for a moment, and decided to message Charles Prescott after all, telling him about Leo.
Charles Prescott was in Westhaven today.
He had returned this time because of his grandmother. The old woman was sick, staying in the hospital, and wasn’t going to make it, so Charles Prescott had rushed over.
He was at the hospital, keeping the old woman company.
Lying in bed, Mrs. Prescott looked at him and asked, "Mia Shaw didn’t come?"
Hearing his grandmother’s words, Charles Prescott said, "She was busy with something, so she didn’t come."
Back when Mia Shaw and Charles Prescott were getting engaged, the old woman had brought Sylvia Warren to crash the event. Mia Shaw still remembered that.
Never mind the old woman just being sick—even if she were dead, Mia Shaw wouldn’t have wanted to come and pay her respects.
Hearing Charles Prescott’s words, the old woman sighed. "Why didn’t Leo come either? I want to see Leo."
"He’s too young," Charles Prescott said. "Besides, he has school."
The old woman said, "Charles, how is your work going now? I heard from others that you’re not doing well, that you were kicked out of the Fawcett family’s company. I also heard that your wife isn’t treating you well at all. Is that true?"
"No." Charles Prescott naturally wouldn’t let the old woman know about all that. He said, "I’m doing fine. Don’t listen to other people’s nonsense! I just didn’t want to work at Fawcett Group anymore, so I left on my own."
"Really?" Hearing his words, Mrs. Prescott was a little skeptical.
Charles Prescott said, "Really."
He chatted with the old woman for a while longer and finally managed to lull her to sleep. Then, his phone rang.
Charles Prescott took out his phone and glanced at it, surprised to see a message from Anne Sutton.
He was well aware of the state of his current relationship with Anne Sutton.
Especially now that he had left Fawcett Group, even their only professional connection was gone. For her to contact him was completely unexpected.
He opened it and saw that Anne Sutton was telling him about Leo.
Anne Sutton asked what he was busy with, told him she had seen Leo at the hospital today, and urged him to pay attention to Leo’s situation.
Charles Prescott was very busy with work, especially after joining the new company. He had a lot on his plate.
He was also an ambitious, career-driven man.
His sole focus was on leveraging SV to rebuild his career.
’Naturally, it’s impossible for me to be concerned about my child all the time!’
’I already warned Mia Shaw last time. I can’t believe she’s doing this again. Does she really have a death wish?!’
Charles Prescott replied, "I’m in Westhaven right now. I’ll handle Leo’s situation when I get back."
Anne Sutton looked at the message Charles Prescott sent back. "As long as you’re aware."
With that, Anne Sutton put down her phone and decided not to meddle in the matter any further.
The family went to Mrs. Sutton’s restaurant for dinner. Anna Linden was also there today.
Mrs. Sutton found it fascinating that Finn looked so much like her own grandson. After learning he was Ethan Linden’s child, Mrs. Sutton was also very kind to Finn.
She and Anna Linden had grown very close recently, like best friends. Anna had even invested in Mrs. Sutton’s restaurant.
She naturally knew that Ethan Linden was a source of regret for Anna Linden.
