Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 433: Let Her Try
She realized that her workdays were her personal paradise!
Suddenly, she started to look down on Ryan Linden!
She no longer wanted to live that kind of stifling life with him!
And so, the thought of divorce began to sprout in her mind.
The word "divorce" made Ryan Linden’s jaw drop. "You want a divorce?"
She was out every day and never came home.
’I haven’t even thought about divorcing this fat hag.’
’Who would’ve thought she’d be the one to ask for a divorce?’
’Is this the same Lana Langley who used to let me beat and curse her as I pleased?’
Lana Langley said, "That’s right! I happen to be free this weekend. You can come over then, and we can discuss the divorce."
"Are you crazy?!" Ryan Linden yelled at Lana Langley. "Take a good look at the wreck you are! Who else would want you besides me?"
Lana Langley rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, I should thank you, then! What have I gotten from all these years with you? You even gambled away the house that Granduncle gave Donna! You’re nothing but a degenerate gambler! Any woman who ends up with you must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck! I must have been out of my mind to let you bully me like that back then! Now, I can’t even be bothered with you."
Lana Langley’s words made Ryan Linden so angry he almost coughed up blood.
He pointed at Lana Langley, speechless with rage. It took him a long moment to catch his breath before he finally said, "Fine! Just great! I’d love to see what man would ever want you! I’ve wanted to divorce you for a long time, you fat hag! Why don’t you look in a mirror and see what a sight you are! Once I’m rid of you, I can go out and easily find someone way better!"
All this time, he had been coming here every day, trying to suck up to Anna Linden, hoping that she would see his sincerity and convince Lana Langley and Donna to go back with him.
Well, so much for that!
A few words from Lana Langley had completely infuriated him, and he no longer wanted to try and coax her!
’All I want is to get out of here and find someone new!’
’I’m Ryan Linden! How could I possibly not find a beautiful woman?’
’Why should I have to stay with this fat hag?’
Hearing Ryan Linden’s words, Lana Langley almost laughed out loud.
She looked at him. "Get lost."
She didn’t even try to make him stay!
Ryan Linden shot her a glare, turned, and started to walk out, only to see Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton returning. He couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed.
Ever since Lana Langley had moved in here, Ryan Linden felt like he’d lost his family. That was one thing, but now, he had lost his dignity too!
He couldn’t imagine what methods Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton had used to change Lana Langley so drastically.
To make her so irrevocably determined...
The very woman he looked down on more than anyone in the world was now starting to look down on him!
Ryan Linden shot a glare at Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett, then hurried away.
Nathan Fawcett, holding Ian, paid him no mind.
He led Anne Sutton inside.
Lana Langley, holding her son’s hand, saw Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett return and said, "You’re back?"
Compared to how she treated Ryan Linden, her attitude toward Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett was much more polite!
Anne Sutton found that Lana Langley seemed much more agreeable now!
Anne Sutton nodded. "Yes."
"Oh, by the way," Lana Langley said, "Anne, I heard something happened to your sister. How is she?"
"She’s okay," Anne Sutton said. "Thanks for asking."
"Don’t mention it, we’re all family here! You saw Ryan Linden just now, didn’t you? I want to divorce him! I feel so stupid for how I used to be, always thinking I couldn’t live without him. I’ve only just realized that I’m doing just fine without him."
Anne Sutton looked at Lana Langley and smiled.
Lana Langley said, "What are you smiling about? Do you think I’m joking? I’m serious."
"No," Anne Sutton said. "I was just thinking that you’ve finally gotten smart! We tried to help you before, but you wouldn’t let us! Whatever Ryan Linden said, you did! You should have figured this out a long time ago."
"Hehe," Lana Langley chuckled sheepishly.
She led her son inside to go rest.
Nathan Fawcett glanced at Ian, who was on the verge of falling asleep, and said, "I’ll take Ian to rest first."
"Let’s give him a bath tomorrow!" Anne Sutton said. "Don’t wake him up."
Nathan Fawcett said, "I know."
After Nathan Fawcett went upstairs, Anne Sutton sat for a while. She saw Butler Shepherd come down, call a maid, and enter the kitchen to prepare some food for the Old Master.
Anne Sutton glanced at him and said, "Making food at this hour? Didn’t the Old Master say no one is allowed to eat outside of mealtimes?"
Hearing Anne Sutton’s words, Butler Shepherd explained, "The Old Master didn’t eat much today, and he barely touched his dinner. I wanted to have something made for him to eat. His appetite hasn’t been good lately."
Anne Sutton said, "Oh."
Then Butler Shepherd stood to the side, instructing the maid on how to cook.
He wanted to make it delicious enough to tempt the Old Master’s appetite.
But it also had to be light, since the old man was in poor health and constantly on medication.
Anne Sutton sat to the side, listening as the maid in the kitchen was nearly driven to tears by Butler Shepherd’s demands, and found it quite interesting.
Nathan Fawcett put Ian to sleep and came downstairs. Seeing her still sitting there, he said, "Not sleeping?"
Anne Sutton said, "I can’t sleep. I’m texting Sharon!"
Nathan Fawcett glanced at the kitchen, where they were still cooking at this hour, and walked over. "What’s going on?" he asked.
Butler Shepherd repeated to Nathan Fawcett what he had just told Anne Sutton.
Nathan Fawcett asked, "Has Grandfather’s appetite been really bad lately?"
Butler Shepherd said, "A little."
Nathan Fawcett said, "Let’s take him to eat at Auntie Sutton’s restaurant tomorrow!"
Mrs. Sutton’s cooking was delicious.
Butler Shepherd asked, "Is that Ms. Sutton’s mother?"
He had heard that Anna Linden went there often.
Nathan Fawcett said, "Yes. The food at Westhaven is on the lighter side. Grandfather eats at home every day, so a change of pace might be good for him. Maybe he’ll like it."
Anne Sutton stood up and said to Nathan Fawcett, "Let me cook!"
With that, she walked into the kitchen.
Butler Shepherd looked at Anne Sutton with a guarded expression. "You?"
’She’s not going to poison him, is she?!’
’After all, she’s always hated the Old Master!’
Butler Shepherd truly couldn’t guess what she was up to and was terrified she would do something terrible.
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. "Aren’t you tired?"
"It’s fine, it’s just a little cooking." Anne Sutton gave a cold laugh. "It’s time your grandfather learned what this ’good-for-nothing’ woman can do."
After speaking, she turned to the maid who was preparing to cook and said, "I’ll take over. You can just help me on the side."
The maid was already on the verge of going mad from Butler Shepherd’s demands, so upon hearing Anne Sutton’s words, she couldn’t have been more relieved.
Butler Shepherd looked toward Nathan Fawcett and said, "Young Master..."
Nathan Fawcett said, "Anne is a very good cook. Let her try!"
Anne Sutton got busy.
She was still wearing the formal dress she had gone out in, though she had changed into a pair of flat shoes.
She bustled around the kitchen for nearly an hour before she finished making the food for the Old Master.
She hadn’t made anything complicated, just a soup...
After all, he was a patient now, and nothing was more suitable for him than soup!
When she was done, Anne Sutton clapped her hands. "Take it to him!"
Butler Shepherd said, "Is this okay? I’m afraid he won’t want to drink it."
