Chapter 322: Won’t Let Her Go Out in a Dress

  • Next Chapter

Anne Sutton looked at the man. She was about to take it off, but the pleading look in his eyes made her feel too bad to go through with it.

She looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "What’s this, a marriage proposal?"

"I’ll prepare a proper engagement ring for you later."

"Then what’s this?"

"I was out walking by myself a while ago and saw it. I looked at it for a long time, thought it would suit you, so I bought it for you." Nathan Fawcett leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. "I don’t need a bunch of reasons to buy you things, right?"

Anne Sutton looked at the man, the corners of her mouth lifted. "Alright!"

His words completely took the pressure off her.

Accepting his ring no longer felt as awkward as it had a moment ago.

She had been afraid of feeling tied down by him.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and said, "I have to go to the hospital today."

"Why the hospital? Are you not feeling well?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "My mother introduced me to a doctor. She said he’s a friend of hers who can take a look at my allergies."

Hearing this, Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "Oh, good! Your condition is pretty scary, you know. It’s true that you don’t usually come into contact with other women, but what if you accidentally do someday? If you suddenly have a reaction, it would be awful for you! You should definitely go get it checked out."

"Will you come with me?" Nathan Fawcett asked, looking at her.

Anne Sutton said, "My mom wants to open a shop, and I have to go with her today to look at storefronts. You know she doesn’t know anyone or the area here. Plus, she’s finally found something she wants to do. I want to be with her. Once I go back to work, I won’t have time to look after her."

Nathan Fawcett was about to say something more, but he remembered her mother’s situation, held his tongue, and said, "Alright, then. I’ll call you when I get back from the hospital."

Anne Sutton nodded. "Okay."

Having finally gotten what he wanted last night, Nathan Fawcett seemed to be in a much better mood today.

He lay beside Anne Sutton, wanting to stay with her a little longer, when there was a knock on the door. "Stinky Daddy."

It was clearly Ian’s voice. "Hurry up and come out!"

Hearing this, Anne Sutton quickly pushed Nathan Fawcett. "Hurry, Ian’s calling for you! Go see what he wants."

Nathan Fawcett got up, walked to the door, and opened it. He saw Ian wearing only a pair of shorts and asked, "What are you doing?"

The heat was on in the house, so it wasn’t cold.

But he had woken up this morning and run over to find him without even getting dressed.

Ian said, "I can’t find my clothes. Where’s my mommy?"

"Your mommy wants to sleep a little longer. I’ll take you." Afraid he would wake Anne Sutton, Nathan Fawcett picked Ian up and carried him to the room next door.

Anne Sutton lay on her pillow. The bedroom curtains were drawn. Only a faint glimmer of light seeped through a small gap.

Anne Sutton was dead tired and didn’t want to get out of bed at all. She lay there and dozed for a little while longer.

Nathan Fawcett was already back.

He sat down on the bed, watching her.

Anne Sutton opened her eyes and asked, "How’s Ian?"

"I already got him dressed. He went downstairs to play. Your mother is already up. He’s with his grandma."

Anne Sutton said, "Oh. He follows my mom around all day now and keeps her really happy."

With a child as adorable as Ian, even Mrs. Sutton could hardly resist his charms.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and asked, "When are you planning to get up?"

Anne Sutton said, "I guess now. My back is sore and my legs ache. I really don’t want to get up at all."

She sat up, feeling like she could barely get out of bed.

At that thought, she shot a glare at Nathan Fawcett.

Nathan Fawcett said, "I’ll go get your clothes for you. What are you wearing today?"

"There’s a red dress in the closet." After she told him, Nathan Fawcett went and got it. He handed the dress to her and said, "I rarely see you wear dresses. Won’t you freeze wearing that out in this cold weather?"

Anne Sutton rolled her eyes at him. "It’s not like I’m not going to wear leggings."

"You women and your clothes. Showing off your legs in the middle of winter. You really choose style over warmth."

Anne Sutton looked at this clueless man. "You probably don’t know what fleece-lined leggings are."

"What’s that?"

Anne Sutton shot him another look, changed into her clothes, pulled on the leggings, and stood in front of Nathan Fawcett. "There. Take a look. Do I still look cold?"

Nathan Fawcett didn’t say a word. She looked up at the man and saw him staring at her. A smile played on her lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

He leaned in and said, "You look so beautiful like this."

He was completely captivated!

Because Anne Sutton was usually busy with work, she didn’t often dress up. It was rare for her to dress so flamboyantly.

The dress on her exuded a captivating charm.

Anne Sutton looked at the man. "Look at you, acting like you’ve never seen a woman before. I just threw something on. Is there a need to be so dramatic?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "It’s true. I haven’t seen other women."

Seeing the look of infatuation on his face, Anne Sutton had to admit her vanity was satisfied.

She looked at the man, a faint smile on her lips, and said, "Alright, let’s go down and eat."

"You’re going out just like that? Aren’t you cold?"

Anne Sutton glanced at him, took a coat out of the closet, and draped it over her shoulders. "Better now?"

She had also slipped on a pair of high heels.

Nathan Fawcett said, "When you go out to look at storefronts later, will it just be you and your mom? How about I have someone go with you?"

Anne Sutton looked at the man and said, "No need. Caleb Summers is going with us."

After Anne Sutton spoke, she stood in the hallway and turned back to see Nathan Fawcett standing in the doorway, his face dark. "You got all dressed up like this just to see him?"

The high heels, the exposed legs... seeing her long legs on display, Nathan Fawcett was instantly displeased.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett, walked up to him, and took his arm. "You’re overthinking things again, aren’t you? Look at me. I’m at the hospital all day, always in my scrubs. I finally have a couple of days off. If I don’t wear the clothes I bought now, when will I ever wear them?"

Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "Excuses, you wicked woman."

"You’re getting more and more possessive!"

"Hurry up and change your clothes!"

Anne Sutton said, "I don’t have many clothes. Most of them are at your place. I barely have any clothes here."

It was no trouble at all for Nathan Fawcett. "I’ll have someone bring them over."

Anne Sutton looked at him and said, "What, I’m this old and I still need someone to police what I wear?"

Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "Are you going to change or not? Who are you trying to mesmerize, going out like that? That Caleb Summers kid is already restless. What if he gets ideas about you?"

"With you around, how would he dare get any ideas about me?" Anne Sutton looked at the man and said, "Besides, don’t you like me in this outfit too?"

The white fur coat paired with the red dress underneath was truly a beautiful sight.

Nathan Fawcett said, "You’re only allowed to wear it in front of me."

...

Anne Sutton couldn’t stand him.

She followed him downstairs.

Mrs. Sutton had already asked the housekeeper to prepare a meal.

Caleb Summers was already there, sitting at the dining table. Seeing Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett come downstairs, he said, "Ethan. Sis."
