Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress
Chapter 329 - 329: Ch 329: The Selection Test
As Glennis was about to end his orders, suddenly another person spoke up from behind. This man had a cunning and a very irritating smile and as soon as he interrupted Glennis, his polite smile suddenly vanished.
Then with a cold look on his face, Glennis asked -
"Yolkin, do you have something to say ?"
"Yes, I absolutely do. Even though your Starlight Institution is leading the charge here, us from the Shadow Crevice Mountain also have some demands of our own. I think the same is true for our good friends of the Kremsaw Society."
Hearing this, most of the people nodded their heads. The only ones who did not agreed were all from the Starlight Institution. In this situation, feeling helpless, Glennis looked at Allain.
But the rank 2 magus did not say anything and maintained his silence. Seeing this, Glennis could only sigh and give up. Even though this rank 2 magus had a good relationship with their headmaster, at the end of the day, he was an outsider. So it made sense that he would not be on their side for everything.
So a bit reluctantly, Glennis stepped back and allowed the suspicious looking man named Yolkin to take the stage. For the city Lord, there was no difference between getting orders from Glennis or Yolkin, so he maintained his subservient attitude and listened to what this new person had to say.
Actually, Glennis did not have any new or contradictory orders for the city Lord. Instead, he gave him some methods to handle the flood of people who would be coming for the selection test.
This was a very valuable advise and Ushida was slightly taken aback because of that. He was expecting something rude or demanding, so this man giving him genuine good advice was a very contrasting thing.
Weiss also listened to everything. It looked like the selection test was divided into two rounds. And for both of these rounds, specialised items would be used.
All the people would be able to take part in the first test but for the second one, only the people who had passed the first one would be able to participate.
From this Weiss guessed that the first test was simply to find if someone had the bare minimum talent for the magus system or not. Most people would be eliminated in this round.
And then, the second test was most probably to find how good or bad someone's talent was. Then according to the result, all three of the orginisations would would invite the individuals to join them.
If the talent was bad or mediocre, then one would be lucky to find even one offer from any of the organisations. But if the result was good, then all three of the orginisations would give them offers and the individual would be able to choose according to what they preferred.
All the people selected by the organisations would be able to travel in the magic ship for free. And if there were someone who still wished of go to the world of the magus even without being selected by anyone, they could actually do it by paying a huge sum of money.
The three people who were not planning to participate in the test were going to use this same method to accompany Weiss and her group. So, Weiss was happy and relieved to know that this method was still available.
Yolkin also told the city lord that for the first two days, only the first test would be happening. For this, they could allow 100 people to take the test at the same time.
But for the second and the actual test, it would start from the third day onwards and only 5 people would be able to participate in it at the same time. But as the test takers for the second one would be relatively low, the slow pace of this event was perfectly fine.
As for what one would need to do for the first test, it was simple. There would be one hundred crystal balls prepared for the test takers and they just needed to touch it. If the crystal gave of any light in that situation, one would pass the test.
And if the crystal did not show any reaction even after 10 seconds have passed, then one would be considered to have failed. And this way, their dream of becoming a magus would come to an end.
So it looked like the first test was going to be quite simple and straightforward. As for the second one, the man named Yolkin did not say anything about this. So for this one, Weiss could only wait.
But even after giving the instructions, Yolkin was not done. There was on last order that he had for the city lord. And this order was also the reason why he had interrupted Glennis before.
He wanted the city lord to give a book to all the people who would be able to pass the first round. This book had detailed information about all three of the participating organisations written and by studying it, the students would be able to find the best choices for them.
But in the middle of Yolkin speaking, Glennis interrupted him this time with a look of fury on his face. It was clear that this man was currently feeling extremely upset.
"You bastard, how dare you give a book written by that snake to the ignorant people here ? If you want to pick a fight with our Starlight Institution, we will not mind wipping both of yours third rate orginisations out."
Hearing this arrogant remark, the people from the other two organisations lost their temper. And the first one to spoke to against Glennis was Yolkin. With the same irritating look on his face, he said -
"Hehehe, third rate ? If there is anything third rate here then that is your Starlight Institution. Without the headmaster, what else you all have ? My Shadow Crevice Mountain have almost three times more magi than your institution."
One person from the Kremsaw Society also spoke up next -
"Hahaha, absolutely correct, brother Yolkin. That is not all. The headmaster of Starlight Institution is currently under strict watch after he had participated in the Wanshi Dragon Raid. So, currently, he would not be able to make a move easily.
So with that being the case, who do you think is more likely to be destroyed in an all out battle ? There was no doubt it is your Starlight Institution."
This way, suddenly this simple discussion turned into a battlefield with quite a few people even releasing their bloodlust. From this, Weiss was able to sense that all the magus and people related to it were extremely experienced in killing.
So what was going to happen now ?
