Chapter 1484: Goodbye, I’ll Forget You

"The emotional debt is between her and me, involving you was the biggest mistake."

"When I was unconscious, you found experts to treat me. Why?" Steven lightly tapped on the car window, looking at Jose.

Jose took a drag from his cigarette, exhaled a swirl of smoke, his expression indifferent, and replied softly, "Repaying her debt. Now that you’ve awakened, Steven, she died at your mother’s hands. The Seys Family didn’t hold anyone accountable, which counts as repaying what they owe you. From now on, she no longer owes your Cooper Family anything and has no ties to you. From now until forever, she is only involved with me alone."

Jose lifted his leg into the car, adding a sentence to the still silent Steven, "Nicole, whether it’s past or present, belongs solely to me."

With that, Jose didn’t hesitate any longer, started the car, and drove away from the cemetery.

Steven’s gaze returned to the cemetery, becoming very deep. He sighed heavily before leaving.

Steven had loved Nicole, but destiny did not favor them. Within Nicole’s heart, he never surpassed Jose’s place.

Steven smiled bitterly.

She is already gone but his life must continue. The Cooper Family only has him as the sole heir; his parents await their years of retirement.

So — Nicole, goodbye. I will forget you...

-

Jose returned to the Clearflower Estate feeling physically and mentally exhausted, routinely taking two sleeping pills from the drawer and laying down on the bed.

Images of her replayed in his mind, scenes from the five years they lived together alternated. Jose closed his eyes, with pronounced sadness and loneliness in the arch of his brows.

-

Late at night, while he was working in the study, she pushed the door open and entered.

"Jose, are you still working so late?"

Her voice was so gentle, like a breeze brushing past, making him feel comfortable.

In the study, he lifted his gaze to watch her approach, a trace of tenderness in his eyes, "Why aren’t you asleep so late?"

She came over, giving him a gentle smile, and casually reached out to massage his shoulders, "Couldn’t sleep, came to the study to check on you. Don’t overwork yourself, make sure to relax."

"I know."

He embraced her into his arms, giving her a light kiss on the forehead, his expression subtle but a hundred times warmer compared to his indifference toward others.

-

She held two movie tickets.

"Jose, I bought two movie tickets, will you go to the movies with me?" She waved the tickets nimbly with her fingertips.

He glanced at the work beside him, hesitated for a moment, about to speak when she interrupted, looking at him with hopeful pleading eyes: "Just once? We’ll watch just once! Jose, I bought these tickets at a high price from a scalper... Don’t waste it!"

He looked at her and instinctively nodded his head.

Her face instantly bloomed like flowers, a bright smile lighting up her whole face, enchanted his eyes, making him somewhat mesmerized.

-

He caught a cold, feeling slightly feverish, still handling official affairs with his laptop.....

With a ’snap’, a slender hand closed his laptop, looking at him with a frown, "You’ve really become indestructible! Why don’t we just give you a model worker award, hmm?"

He looked at her slightly angry expression, the corners of his mouth breaking into a smile.

She stepped away, poured a glass of water, holding medicine in one hand, her tone fierce, without the usual softness, "Open your mouth and take the medicine!"

He cooperated obediently, slightly parted his thin lips, and two pills were directly shoved into his mouth.

The bitter taste spread instantly in his mouth, making him furrow his brows slightly. At that moment, she held the cup to his lips, her tone still a bit unhappy: "Drink!"
