Love Across the Light Years -The Devil CEO Indulges My Lies.
Chapter 337: How did she forget her own child?
Adelyn knew she didn’t need to know who Eira’s real mother was.
She didn’t need to get involved.
Not too deeply.
But every time now that she saw Eira, she couldn’t help but think about that woman.
The woman who had given birth to such a sweet child.
The woman whose absence had once left such a deep longing in Eira’s eyes.
So much so that now, even Adelyn’s curiosity was getting the better of her.
She stared at Karl, thinking he would take his time to answer. If not, he would at least hesitate for a second.
However, Karl didn’t even take another second.
His brows immediately furrowed, and he answered almost on instinct.
"Eira’s mother?" he repeated, as though he couldn’t understand why she was asking something so obvious. Then, in the very next second, he answered, "Isn’t that you, sister-in-law?"
Adelyn froze.
For a moment, she simply stared at him, her brows slowly knitting together in confusion.
Her?
"What did you say?" She frowned.
Her voice came out quieter than she expected.
How could it be her?
Her gaze turned toward Little Eira again.
The little girl was still sitting there, focused on her coloring as though she had no idea what was happening around her.
Believing it was absurd. And Adelyn wasn’t believing it. But ...
In that moment, she couldn’t help but remember how Eira had called her Mama the very first time she had seen her.
So instinctive.
So certain.
There hadn’t been even the slightest hesitation in the little girl’s voice.
At that time, Adelyn had simply assumed it was because the child was too young and had mistaken her for someone else.
It was natural.
So natural that it had even caught her off guard.
But now ...
When she was thinking again ...
Could it be that it was like that because there was something true in it?
Her brows furrowed even more.
The more she thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt.
Eira had never behaved as though she were uncertain about Adelyn. She had never looked at her like a stranger. She had never doubted her.
She had simply accepted her.
Called her Mama.
Clung to her.
Missed her.
Loved her.
As though Adelyn had always belonged in that position since always.
Could that be the girl remembered her while Adelyn had forgotten her?
Adelyn’s fingers slowly clenched at the thought.
A strange heaviness settled over her entire being.
She had a forgotten past —one she no longer remembered.
She had forgotten people in them before.
But ...
Could she have forgotten something this important?
Someone this important?
Her daughter.
The thought struck her so hard that she almost stopped breathing. Her hand moved down her belly, trying to feel something she wasn’t sure of.
Her daughter.
How was that possible?
Did she really forget her?
How could she possibly forget that she had a daughter?
Adelyn’s gaze remained fixed on Little Eira, and she felt her chest tighten.
For the first time, everything that seemingly felt like coincidences before, strangely didn’t feel the same.
Eira calling her Mama.
The immediate attachment.
The familiarity in the little girl’s eyes.
Could all of it truly be pointing toward the same truth?
A truth that Adelyn herself had somehow forgotten?
Her fingers tightened around the edge of the sofa.
If that was really the case ...
Then was Eira really her child?
The thought alone made her heart ache.
Adelyn had never considered herself a perfect person. She knew she had made mistakes.
She knew there were parts of her past that she couldn’t remember and people she could no longer recall.
But a child?
Her own child?

Meanwhile—
On the other side, Clara finally stepped out of the private room.
Although she hadn’t fully believed that Liam had gone to Goldstem Productions to help her, the confirmation of her suspicion only hurt her more.
Her expression was dark, and the anger in her eyes was difficult to conceal.
"Ms Scott, what’s wrong??" Maria asked quietly when she saw Clara standing there with such an aggressive expression. "What did the investor say? Did CEO Scott ...?"
"Liam invested a hundred million in the production of The Empress Grief," Clara simply told her.
Her expression remained tight, and her fingers clenched into fists.
For a second, Maria forgot about Clara’s seemingly unpleasant expression, and reacted purely to the news.
"Isn’t that a good news, Ms Scott?" she said, perking up. "A hundred million isn’t a small amount. With CEO Scott on the investment board, Director Rhodes and Producer Polson would have to give face to him. They will surely have to make arrangements for you."
Although Maria had heard of Director Rhodes’s rigidity regarding the casting of the production, she had also seen people catering to investors’ requests.
She truly believed that with Liam investing such a huge amount, Clara would finally be able to get on the cast of the production.
After all, a hundred million was not an amount that could be ignored.
And Liam Scott wasn’t just any investor.
He was the CEO of the Scott family’s company.
With him personally investing in the production, even Director Rhodes would have to take his opinion seriously.
Maria’s eyes brightened at the thought.
This was exactly the kind of opportunity they had been waiting for.
The production was already attracting considerable attention on the internet, and The Empress Grief was expected to become one of the major productions of the year.
If Clara could finally secure a role in it — it would be a huge boost to her career.
However ... when Maria looked at Clara again, she noticed that her expression had only become darker.
There wasn’t even the slightest hint of happiness on her face ...
Instead, her jaw was clenched tight, and the anger in her eyes was seemingly growing with every passing second.
Maria couldn’t help, but be confused.
"Ms. Scott, what’s wrong? Aren’t you happy?"
Clara gritted her teeth.
"Happy? Why should I be?" she scoffed.
Her voice carried obvious resentment.
"Liam didn’t invest a hundred million for me. He invested it for..."
She paused, her fingers tightening into fists again.
"Adelyn."
Maria’s expression changed immediately. For a second, she didn’t know how to respond.
Then, after a second, she asked cautiously. "What should we do now, Ms Scott?"
Clara’s expression darkened for a second before she gave a cold laugh.
"What should we do?" she turned towards her. Isn’t it obvious?"
Maria didn’t understand. Confused, she slowly shook her head.
Clara looked away from her, staring into the distance as her eyes darkened with resentment. "We will expose."
