Chapter 315: How to Revenge (7)
"Who said anything about stopping it?"
The Guild Master was absolutely baffled to hear that. His eyes widened in sheer, paralyzing horror. He finally realized why Solomon had said, "I honestly did not expect you to hide down here of all places. You would have been much safer hiding in a broom closet upstairs." when he first entered the bunker.
Naturally, the vast majority of the high-yield explosives were packed into the foundational sub-levels and the basement where they currently stood, with the explosive density gradually decreasing on the upper floors, as completely collapsing the building’s foundation was the primary goal of the demolition sequence.
They were literally standing in the epicenter of the blast zone.
The Guild Master lunged forward, desperately grabbing onto Solomon’s legs. "What do you want?! Why are you doing this?!"
Solomon pondered the question for a second, staring down at the pathetic, weeping man. "I do not really want anything from you. I have already gotten everything I needed tonight, so... that’s everything."
"I will give you everything!" the Guild Master pleaded, his tears mixing with the blood on his face. "You can have this entire guild! You can have all the money, the corporate resources, and absolutely everything I hoarded from that dungeon! Everything I own is worth hundreds of millions of dollars! Just take it!"
Solomon simply stared at the groveling Guild Master, unimpressed by the frantic bribes.
The Guild Master sobbed desperately. "We do not have much time left! We have to get out of this place right now!" He looked up, reluctantly admitting his final secret. "There is still time! We can leave! There is an emergency pneumatic eject chamber hidden right here in this bunker! It will launch us out of this building into the bay immediately! It is only big enough for one person, but we can both squeeze inside! We can manage it!"
Solomon slowly crouched down to match the Guild Master’s eye level. He let out a quiet sigh.
"Leaving this building was never an option for me tonight," Solomon stated softly.
The Guild Master gritted his teeth, his survival instinct completely overriding his begging. He pushed Solomon backward, scrambled to his feet, and made a desperate, frantic run toward the hidden panel concealing the secret emergency eject chamber.
Solomon watched the Guild Master scramble desperately across the floor. He calmly walked over to the expansive armory display mounted on the wall, grabbed a crossbow, and quickly loaded a steel-tipped bolt.
He raised the weapon, took aim, and shot the bolt directly into the Guild Master’s right calf.
The Guild Master bellowed in sheer, agonizing pain as the steel pierced his muscle. However, driven by his primal survival instinct, he didn’t even stop to pull the bolt out. He kept limping frantically toward the hidden wall panel, leaving a thick, smeared trail of dark blood across the polished floorboards.
Solomon loaded another bolt. He aimed slightly lower and fired, burying the bolt directly into the man’s left Achilles tendon.
The Guild Master’s legs gave out entirely. He collapsed, crashing face-first onto the metal floor. Because of his massive, bulky frame, he fell so hard that the impact shattered his nose, painting the floor with fresh crimson.
Yet, despite the crying, the screaming, and the excruciating pain, the man still did not stop. He began dragging his useless, paralyzed legs behind him, crawling desperately toward the eject chamber with his bare hands.
Solomon loaded a third bolt. He aimed at the man’s shoulder but purposefully jerked his wrist, letting the steel bolt shatter against the floor just inches from the crawling man’s face to emphasize his absolute control over the situation.
He loaded a fourth bolt and fired it directly into the center of the Guild Master’s broad back.
Solomon lowered the crossbow and slowly walked over to the defeated man. The Guild Master lay flat on the floor, breathing heavily, coughing up blood, and trembling violently, yet his desperate eyes remained fixed entirely on the hidden wall panel.
Solomon nudged the man with his boot and forcefully kicked him over onto his back. The bolt lodged in his spine snapped under his own weight with a sickening crunch. The Guild Master looked up at Solomon with wide, desperate eyes, choking on his own blood as he tried to stammer out pathetic pleas for mercy, begging to be spared.
Solomon crouched down to match his eye level. He glanced up at the digital countdown timer flashing on the wall.
00:15.
Solomon chuckled softly. "Is it not incredibly poetic?" he asked, his voice calm and entirely devoid of pity. "You spent a fortune... a fortune stolen, built on the blood of the two hundred adventurers who died in that orchestrated dungeon tragedy—just to build this skyscraper. You poured millions into making this headquarters the tallest, most heavily fortified building in the entire district. You wanted it to be your impenetrable fortress."
Solomon leaned slightly closer, his silver eyes flashing in the strobing red emergency lights. "And now, this very same, expensive fortress is going to become your permanent deathbed. It is going to collapse on top of you, burying you beneath thousands of tons of your own precious steel and concrete. You wanted to rule this guild forever? Congratulations. Now you get to stay in this building for the rest of eternity."
"St...op.... don’t do th...is..." The Guild Master sobbed, reaching a trembling, bloody hand toward the teenager’s hoodie.
"You should spend your final moments appreciating the guild you love so much," Solomon advised smoothly, standing up and backing away. "Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the flashing red lights, and the sound of your own destruction."
"Take.... me...."
Solomon casually tossed the crossbow aside. He took one last, satisfied look at the whimpering, broken man bleeding out on the floor, and stepped into the small, hidden pneumatic ejection chamber.
He pulled the reinforced glass door shut. It was an incredibly cramped, cylindrical cubicle. There was only a single, glowing green button on the console with the word ’EJECT’ printed in bold letters.
Solomon slammed his fist onto the button.
