Chapter 302: A Day with an Ancient Maid (2) [Bonus Chapter]

Everything ended smoothly. Solomon guided the maid girl on how the modern zippers, buttons, and fabrics worked. She eventually found herself comfortable in a simple cotton T-shirt and a denim skirt. And as he had expected, the clothes fit her quite well, matching her slender build perfectly.

Although, it felt incredibly weird seeing her in casual modern attire, especially since she was still wearing all her ancient jewelry. Heavy gold bangles adorned her wrists, intricate Egyptian-style collars rested against her collarbone, and delicate silver anklets chimed softly around her legs.

The ancient, ornate accessories clashed hilariously with the plain t-shirt, yet somehow, the aesthetic suited her perfectly.

Solomon dug through his desk and found his old tablet. He quickly created a comprehensive video playlist covering modern world manners, basic etiquette, and general knowledge. He included simple, educational videos—the kind one would show to a child—explaining what cars were, how electricity functioned, what a television did, and how basic plumbing worked.

Then, he handed the glowing tablet to the maid girl.

She retreated to the corner of his room, sitting cross-legged on the floor. She stared at the screen in fascination, swiping through the videos and quietly absorbing the new information.

Solomon originally wanted to leave the house immediately to take care of a few pressing errands regarding the BlueYorker’s Shield.

However, he couldn’t just leave the house empty with a time-displaced superhuman sitting in his bedroom. He certainly couldn’t take her with him, either, as hauling her around the city would just complicate his revenge mission.

He decided to rest until the evening, planning to leave the house with her right before his parents and Jasmine returned from the diner to avoid any awkward introductions.

A few hours passed. Solomon was suddenly jolted awake from his nap by a gentle poke to his shoulder. He rubbed his eyes and looked up and saw the maid girl stood beside his bed, holding out the tablet.

"What happened?" Solomon asked, sitting up.

"The magical device suddenly stopped working," she reported, her expression blank. "The moving pictures vanished."

Solomon took the tablet, pressed the power button, and sighed. "It just ran out of battery. It needs to be plugged into the wall to recharge." He grabbed the charging cable and plugged the device in.

He glanced at the wall clock and noticed it was already past noon.

"Are you hungry?" Solomon asked. "Wait... do you actually ever feel hungry and eat food yourself?"

She nodded slowly. "I eat one small meal a day, right before I sleep."

Solomon let out an exasperated sigh. "Normal people eat three full meals a day. You are no longer a temple maid, so you should start living like a normal person and eating like a normal person."

He grabbed his laptop. "I will just order some stuff for us."

She tilted her head curiously. "Are you going to cook the food with this?"

"No, I am not," Solomon responded, speaking slowly and deliberately as if talking to a toddler. "We are going to do something called ’take-out’. That means someone else in a different building will cook the food for us, they will bring it to our front door, and we will just eat it and pay them money."

The maid girl frowned, a rare flicker of emotion crossing her features. "Why should we eat someone else’s cooking when I am perfectly capable of preparing the food myself?"

"There is no need for that," Solomon insisted, waving his hand. "You should just relax today."

She completely ignored him. She turned on her heel, walked out of his bedroom, and headed straight downstairs to the kitchen.

Solomon groaned and followed her down the stairs. "Do you even know how modern kitchen appliances work?"

"I learned the basic functions from the magical device you gave me," she responded, opening the stainless steel refrigerator. "I do not need to know how the cold air is generated to know how to chop vegetables."

She pulled out fresh ingredients, eggs, and leftover meats, quickly surveying the pantry for spices.

Solomon leaned against the counter. "The culinary dishes have changed drastically over the last few thousand years. There are things people eat today that did not even exist back in your era. We have highly processed foods, deep-fried fast food, artificial sweeteners, and complex chemical preservatives. You cannot just throw spices on modern ingredients and expect it to taste the same."

She ignored him entirely, pulling a chef’s knife from the block and beginning to chop the vegetables with terrifying, blur-like speed and precision.

"I am just saying, maybe you should stick to boiling water first," Solomon continued, intentionally being annoying. "If you turn the stove on too high, you might burn the house down. Do you even know how a microwave works? It cooks food with invisible radiation waves. It is basically magic, but dangerous if you put metal inside."

The maid girl abruptly stopped chopping. She set the knife down, turned around, placed both of her hands flat against Solomon’s chest, and physically shoved him out of the kitchen.

"Wait outside," she ordered, her tone brooking absolutely no argument.

Solomon stumbled backward into the living room, blinking in utter disbelief.

He had just been kicked out of his own kitchen by a girl who didn’t even know what a refrigerator was a few hours ago. However, he decided to leave her alone. He was already well aware of how incredibly delicious her cooking was from his time in the dungeon.

Solomon grabbed the TV remote and turned on the local news channels.

He fully expected every single broadcast to be covering the brutal massacre at the financial company and exposing their illegal underground extortion ring. He also expected breaking news alerts regarding the sudden disappearance of the S-rank dungeon in District Six.

However, there was nothing. The news anchors were casually discussing local weather patterns and celebrity gossip.

"What the fuck?" Solomon leaned closer and placed his elbows on his thighs and clasped his hands together. "Where is all the drama I was expecting? What am I gonna watch while eating?"
