Chapter 27: The Quest In Japan

John’s mind had gone haywired the moment he laid his eyes on her.

No other women he had ever met in his lifetime could ever be this beautiful. The woman behind him was like something out of a dream.

Her long silver white hair flowed down as if submerged in water, her eyes glowed a bit of a warm yellowish color and were as deep as the horizon.

Her skin was as smooth as clouds, and her face, as gentle as an angel’s. A slight golden aura surrounded her and her pure white, flowing robes of light only made her more desirable.

John couldn’t control his gaze on her and his mind turned to mush.

"Yes... I would do anything for you." John replied in a stammered tone without thinking about her question.

It was as if she had hypnotized him and forced the words out of his mouth.

The goddess’s face held a slight smug and an amused look.

"Snap out of it, John. We need to talk about your quest."

The voice broke through the haze and he blinked twice to refocus. The goddess stood there smiling at John.

"I will ask you again. Are you willing to go on a quest for me?"

With a clear mind, John shook his head.

"No."

The goddess’ smile didn’t falter. She instead spoke. Her voice was sweet as honey as she spoke.

"Do you know what the Seven Heavenly Virtues are?"

John nodded.

"Good. Now, as for the virtues... I want you to go on a quest for me personally. You are to go and find their fragments and hand them over to seven women in Japan.. .

John frowned. "Why do all of them have to be women?"

The goddess laughed, slightly, to which he was surprised how close she sounded like she was just an ordinary woman.

But this woman was no ordinary woman at all, she is a goddess through and through to the way she looks and speaks.

"Only women can use these virtues."

She grew serious.

"This quest is of utmost importance, John. Should you fail this task... everything will cease to exist because of the Seven Deadly Sins."

John listened carefully and replied after a silence,

"Why me? Isn’t there anyone else that can do this task?"

For the first time, her smile faded away and when she spoke her voice contained true sadness.

"It’s pointless that way. Only those who have died have the power to see the fragments. I can as well... but as you can see, I’m fading. I’ll be gone soon and another goddess will be born and take my place as the new goddess of alderia."

She looked down for a moment.

"If only the Demon King did not kill me, I would have been able to go to Japan myself, pretending to be a regular human and find them."

John thought of his loved ones,

"What about Lyra, Aiko and Airi? If I go, what will happen to them?

The goddess seemed a bit confused. "Don’t toy with words, John. I don’t have the power to see the future. I was just an everyday human before I rose to this position. Once I’m gone, I’ll be exiled from this void as a spirit for years before dying. I don’t know what kind of a goddess will succeed me..."

The goddess trailed off,

but continued,

"As for your women... they will be safe. Lyra is an undead. So as long as you don’t die, she’ll live. Aiko shared a kiss with you. Meaning, a part of your essence is with her and Airi... she has a skill that will keep her from dying in an instant."

John let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding and felt the tightness in his chest ease up a bit.

After a while, he spoke with confidence,

"If I’m able to complete this mission of yours... will I be able to return home to Alderia?"

The goddess smiled and nodded.

"Yes. Once you find all the seven fragments and give them all to seven compatible women, you and those new virtues shall be teleported to Alderia."

She added,

"Also, John... your strength has been reduced as a precaution for the world of Japan. If you were to step into Japan with that type of power, you would kill everyone in a radius simply by walking, so your overpowered stats will be sealed away upon entering there."

John chuckled.

"Fine. I will still find my way back to my alderia to be with my ladies. I also still have to avenge those bastards in the higherups."

The goddess’s body started to fade and before she was completely gone, she gave him a final smile,

and said,

"John... find me, okay? I’ll be in Alderia. Find me. I will be waiting. Promise me..."

John never got to respond when the void of white light faded away.

John’s eyes shot open.

He was in a strange room and the sound of beeping filled his ears. Strange individuals wearing white clothing hovered around him with strange equipment.

They had needles in their hands and looked at him with concern.

One of them looked at him and said,

"He’s awake! We saved him!"

His mind was racing in confusion.

’What the hell is going on? These guys look crazy! Did the goddess send me to the wrong place?’

A mechanical voice then spoke in his head, confirming his thoughts that he was completely wrong.
