Vissen

The gigantic canyon, distorted by time and space, slowly emerged from the top of the void, like a black cloud pressing down on the earth, carrying a suffocating aura, protruding bit by bit from the depths of the void.

He Ao withdrew his gaze from the gigantic canyon suspended upside down in the sky and looked at Sulan in front of him, "So, why are you summoning the War God’s cemetery?"

"I’m not your subordinate, why should I report my achievements to you," Sulan smiled, gazing at He Ao, "Brother Denos, I think you should first be concerned about the city you’re protecting behind you."

Upon hearing his words, He Ao turned his head to look behind him.

The gigantic city, shrouded in mist, was now covered with dense purple light.

This light emanated from the depths of the city and from the Kovotra Ruins above the city’s ’head’.

An invisible and terrifying pressure exuded from these lights, weaving into a denser net on the earth.

He Ao looked forward, where almost all the land of Vissen was covered by a network of purple light.

Individuals lay in their homes and on the ground, having completely lost consciousness.

These purple networks connected almost everyone, with dense lights flickering on the network, resembling a vibrating breath.

The millions of residents in the city were all encompassed within this purple light.

This long-prepared ritual had already drawn all the sacrifices it needed into the altar that had already been prepared.

The purple light burned fiercely, flickered, and the city’s life and souls became its surging fuel, its trembling firewood.

"Is that the power left by the Grim Reaper?" He Ao withdrew his gaze and looked at Sulan.

The purity of the power in those purple lights somewhat exceeded his expectations, and Sulan’s power attribute was clearly not purple.

It was obvious that this was the power left by the Grim Reaper.

As early as eight hundred years ago, when Sulan sacrificed Kovotra, the Grim Reaper had left a part of the power as the core of the new ’Ritual Array’.

This is not difficult to understand, because the former Coffin of Time was also estimated to be a part of this Ritual Array, and the seal on the Coffin of Time seemed to be the power left by the Grim Reaper.

On the contrary, it was Sulan who seemed to not know much about the Coffin of Time. If he knew of the Coffin of Time’s existence and knew that Denos might be lying in it, he would probably open it for Denos right from the start, not wait until now to investigate.

Even now, Sulan’s ’investigation’ is probably some kind of ’oracle’ or ’revelation’ from the Grim Reaper.

"Can you feel the majesty and terror of the Divine Being?" Sulan seemed surprised that He Ao could deduce that the power came from a Divine Being. He chuckled, "Brother Denos, although you can be stubborn and foolish at times, it’s apparent you still have some discernment,"

He lifted his gaze, glancing at the Inwiter Grand Canyon rapidly descending from above, and opened his arms, "Look at this miracle that creates everything, do you not feel awestruck? Do you know what the most useful thing I learned from wandering in the starry sky all these years is?"

He lowered his head, gazing at He Ao, "To pledge allegiance to the Divine Being, to work for the Divine Being, to become the Divine Being’s devout servant, is the only ultimate solution in this universe."

"I know," He Ao looked at him and nodded slightly, "Be a dog. If you’re a dog, then be a dog. We’ve known each other for so many years; there’s no need to make it so complicated."

Sulan’s expression instantly turned grim.

He stared at He Ao, "Aren’t you also working for a Divine Being? For that ’K’ behind you who doesn’t even dare reveal his true name. Whether he is a Divine Being or not is still uncertain. Even if I’m a dog, I serve a true Divine Being, but you were merely chosen by a false god."

"I will not choose a ’master’," He Ao gazed at him and shook his head, "But your ’master’ must be quite disappointed in you; otherwise, he wouldn’t have to use the power he left behind."

Sulan’s face turned grim again, and then he shook his head and chuckled, "Denos, I know you can talk, but the true difference in power isn’t decided by debate, and victory or defeat can’t be decided just by speaking well."

He leaned forward, the gigantic canyon reflected behind him, his gaze lowered as he stared at He Ao, rasping, "Do you hear it, the sound of the soul’s roar? The ’sacrifices’ I’ve prepared are not only in Vissen."

At this point, his expression suddenly changed slightly.

Meanwhile, He Ao watched him calmly.

——

Wint City

"Wow——"

A phantom harpy spread its wings, swiftly slicing through the cold and dim sky, sweeping across the overlapping buildings under the overcast clouds.

The sharp screech pierced into the souls of the warriors below like a sharp dagger, making them lose control momentarily.

Bang bang bang——

The intense gunfire sounded along with explosions, smoke shrouding the narrow alley.

A blonde girl, her face splattered with fresh blood, stood at the deepest part of the alley, slowly emerging, gripping the transcendent steel sword at her waist. She raised her head, eyes fixed on the smoke ahead.

Her body tautened, assuming a combat stance, and she took a step forward.

In the next instant, a mechanical giant hand, seemingly from an Engineering Mech, grabbed her from behind, pulling her into the street behind, and began running swiftly.

It passed through more than a dozen streets before the enormous Engineering Mech finally stopped. The cockpit opened, revealing a tall figure.

"Lena?" The blonde girl looked up, her blood-stained cheeks gazing at the woman in a red dress revealed in the cockpit, then turned her gaze around, "Where is this place?"

The surroundings seemed devoid of any human presence, eerily quiet.

Vili quickly realized and croaked in a low voice, "Is this the factory district?"

The so-called factory district was the area designated for housing the undead that entered the Eternal Divine Nation from Wint City at that time.

After the New Netherworld was established six months ago, most of these undead entered the New Netherworld, with only a few remaining in Wint City.

This factory district had completely turned into a no-man’s-land within Wint City.

"What happened to your eye?" At this point, Lena also jumped down from the cockpit. She looked at the fresh blood on the blonde girl’s cheek, her right eye almost completely stained with red.

"Lost one," the blonde girl said softly, "When the Mech exploded, I got hit in the eye by shrapnel."

Then she smiled, "But anyway, lucky to be alive."

Lena paused, looking at her smile, then reached out to support her, "There’s no one here, we should find a corner to hide, we might be able to evade those mercenary corps’ pursuit outside."

But the blonde girl just shook her head and said softly, "We can’t hide. Those mercenary corps have no discipline. If we retreat, it would be a disaster for the ordinary people of Wint City."

She lifted her head, gazing at the Engineering Mech parked nearby, "What we built over so many years can’t be destroyed. I can still fight."

"The city is already breached," Lena looked at the blonde girl, a bit anxious, "Not even the high walls could stop them. What can you do? The elite forces of the entire Western Federation are here, and there are those undead coming out of nowhere. There must be a terrifying necromancer behind the Consortium Alliance. The Federation hasn’t seen a necromancer disaster of this scale for who knows how many years."

"Yes, necromancer," the blonde girl suddenly realized something, looking up at Lena, "Have you seen Alice?"

"No," Lena shook her head, "Wasn’t Alice always with you?"

"She disappeared when those undead armies appeared," the blonde girl said softly, "My Mech was hit by a Flame Demon."

"Alice disappeared?" Lena was slightly stunned, "Who can make her disappear? Where would she go if she disappeared?"

As she spoke, the blonde girl suddenly paused slightly and lifted her head to gaze around at the silent factory region.

This region, once the seat of the Eternal Divine Nation, was Alice’s old nest.

It was at the moment the blonde girl realized this, that she felt a faint pain in her shoulder.

The very spot where Alice, in her butterfly form, frequently rested.

Then, in the next instant, the silent factory region flashed abruptly in her field of view.

Clusters of undead apparitions suddenly flickered into existence beside them on the street, only to quickly disappear again.

The sky too, at that flickering moment, was filled with purple radiance.

But when the blonde girl looked more closely, the street around had reverted back to its original quiet appearance.

"Something seems off here." Lena in the red dress gazed at the silent street, supporting the blonde girl and slowly stepping back.

And it was at the instant she moved that the entire region flickered violently once more.

Clusters of undead, harpies soaring through the firmament, hellhounds roaring, and massive demons enveloped in flames, appeared in their sights.

In the next moment, these visions vanished instantly.

"We need to leave here," Lena grabbed the blonde girl, "This place is strange."

"We can’t leave." The blonde girl shook her head instead.

"What?" Lena was somewhat puzzled.

Then, in the next instant, the dim purple sky reappeared at the top of the firmament.

A series of roaring and tearing sounds arose between heaven and earth, and scorching breaths swept across the land like waves, brushing against each roaring undead, brushing past their bodies.

This time, the visions did not disappear.

Lena looked around, each undead and banshee and hellhound clutched an invisible chain in their mouths or hands.

"There are far more undead here than outside."

Lena’s gaze followed the chains upward, each chain like a dense line converging in the sky, entwining at a ’point’.

And that ’point’ was a little girl in a blood-red dress.

Dense chains wound around her, binding her hands, feet, and neck, like a fishing net capturing prey, attempting to hold her tightly.

The little girl’s body flickered violently under the purple sky, struggling fiercely upward.

Bang——

The imaginary chains suddenly tensed, and clusters of runes lit up on the chains, with some undead below tugging the chains being pulled up without warning, crashing to the ground, their bodies becoming much more ethereal.

Yet even so, these undead beings and demons still held the chains firmly, keeping the little girl tightly trapped.

Above the little girl’s head, below the purple firmament, a phantom demon figure became faintly visible.

It was a graceful female demon with horns, dressed scantily. She raised her hand, slender fingers clutched at the void, and dense runes and an array unfolded beneath her.

An invisible aura spread within the array, subtly luminous glows also stripped from the little girl, drawn into the array suspended in the air.

Bang——

The little girl in the red dress watched all this, suddenly charging upwards.

Her body instantly transformed into a blood-colored paper butterfly, escaping upwards through the gaps between the chains entangled around her, toward the female demon overhead.

But the imaginary chains also tightened and became thinner before the blood-colored paper butterfly could escape, wrapping her tightly.

Bang——

With a crisp sound, the body of the paper butterfly shattered abruptly, condensing again into the little girl in the red dress.

The dense chains wrapped even tighter, encircling the little girl’s chest and neck, making it nearly impossible for her to breathe.

And in the sky above, the female demon seemed oblivious to all this, still swiftly unfolding the array.

She seemed to be preparing for some sort of ritual, with the little girl as the ’key sacrifice’ in this ritual.

It was at this moment a beam of light swept across the sky.

It was a huge Engineering Mech, not even armed, whose massive fists relentlessly surged toward the female demon in the sky.

All the undead present paused for a moment, seemingly not expecting a ’living being’ with a mech to appear in this region.

In this brief pause, the massive mech charged in front of the female demon, the enormous iron fist hammered toward her.

Whoosh——

It was at this instant that surging flames ignited behind the mech.

A massive Flame Demon stretched out a hand from behind, grabbing the Engineering Mech in mid-air.

Scorching flames instantly melted the armor on the mech’s exterior.

Bang——

The entire mech exploded with a roar, the blonde girl ejecting urgently within the flames, using the force of the ejection to fly toward the female Enchanting Demon in the sky.

They were so close, the blonde girl had already gripped her Transcendent steel blade, slashing toward the female demon.

Bang——

With a crisp sound, the blonde figure halted in place.

A sharp, heart-shaped tailtip extended from behind the female demon, piercing through the girl’s chest.

Boom——

The bound little girl in the red dress watched this scene, suddenly exerting force, shooting upward, but in an instant, was caught by the surging chains, firmly fixed in the sky.

Sizzle——

Bright red blood dripped from the firmament, landing on the invisible chains, evaporating in an instant like water droplets on a scorching iron plate.

At this moment, a slightly frail hand emanating soft white light gently extended from behind, supporting the blonde girl’s shoulder, enveloping her body in intense white brilliance.
