Chapter 2172: Chapter 2172: Mr. Zombie (31)

The base leader really wanted to refuse, but ultimately, under pressure, Chuzheng was allowed to take away a group of people.

This group of people was a bit puzzled, their strongest emotion was fear. Was the base leader sending them to their deaths?

Although the base leader assured them repeatedly that nothing would happen, humanity’s fear of zombies couldn’t be so easily dispelled.

"Are we going to die?"

"How would I know..."

"Why is the base leader sending us there?"

"I’m a bit scared."

"Is she using us as food for those zombies?"

"A human, why isn’t she helping us, but instead choosing to mingle with the zombies?"

Everyone discussed in low voices, but no one could provide a definite answer.

In their hearts, they were restless and uneasy, fearing they’d become food for zombies, fearing they wouldn’t return to the base.

Amidst this apprehension, a group of people reached their destination.

And then—

"We’re just... cleaning up here? It’s that simple? We’re not being used as food?"

"Yes, once you’re done, you can go back." Zhi Kai raised his voice: "Does anyone have any other questions?"

"..."

They thought they were there to become zombie food, but it turned out they were there to be maids...

"No, no." Not having to die made this group much more motivated.

With human help, the city gradually became clean again.

However, the rebellious zombies were quite frustrating; just as they finished cleaning up, turn your back for a moment, and the zombies would gang up and ruin it again.

Some zombies even ran to scare them, baring their teeth in a terrifying manner.

The only good thing about working here was eating well.

Once the city was tidied up, the group didn’t dare linger and hurried back to base.

The base was quite surprised to see them return alive.

After all, the one who came to take people away was quite imposing, and didn’t seem like any benevolent sort.

Chuzheng didn’t know what this group was thinking; she was currently worried about how to feed the group of zombies.

Their feeding intervals were much longer than humans’, but there was still a deadline.

Once the deadline passed without feeding, the zombies would become very irritable and might even attack their fellow zombies.

Even Chuzheng stepping in couldn’t calm them down.

"Boss, how are we supposed to solve this... thing?" Raising this many zombies, really feeding them, how much resources would that need?

This wouldn’t have been an issue before the virus outbreak; after all, the Bastard had more than enough money.

But now the problem was, there simply weren’t that many supplies available for purchase.

So...

Chuzheng had to figure out how to find supplies and have people research how to grow edible things amidst viral pollution.

"Hee hee!"

Bei Chi, upon seeing Chuzheng not paying attention to him, circled around her several times, occasionally tugging at her clothes or playing with her hair.

"Hyperactive?" Chuzheng swatted away the troublesome hand.

"Hee hee hee..."

"Thinking about something, go play by yourself." Chuzheng, not wanting to babysit, casually dismissed Zombie Mister.

Zombie Mister, however, was not so easily dismissed, circling around her, being quite a pest.

"Hee hee!! Hee hee!!" Go out, go out, go out! He wanted to go out!

Back then, she would take him out at this time!

Chuzheng would take him out for a walk every day, and Bei Chi had gotten used to it.

"Go out by yourself..." Chuzheng thought better of it, this guy going out alone would definitely cause trouble.

Chuzheng massaged her temples. Why was life so hard!!

-

Chuzheng took Bei Chi out. Bei Chi sat in the passenger seat, occasionally leaning on the car window looking outside, occasionally leaning towards Chuzheng trying to touch the steering wheel.

"Bei Chi!" Chuzheng exclaimed in a low voice: "Sit properly, no messing around!"

"Hee hee hee!!" Why so fierce? If you say don’t move, I won’t move!

Bei Chi stayed still for just a few minutes before starting to fidget again.

Chuzheng suppressed the urge to smack him and drove him out of the city, stopping in a scenic spot in the suburbs.

The plants here were growing well and hadn’t withered, likely because there was a water source nearby.

Once Bei Chi got out of the car, he no longer needed Chuzheng as a guardian, running off to explore on his own.

Chuzheng walked over: "You haven’t practiced speaking today."

"Hee!" Don’t want to.

Bei Chi growled low, quickly moving to a spot far away from Chuzheng.

Speaking is really hard.

He didn’t want to speak.

"Bei Chi." Chuzheng called out.

Bei Chi squatted in a corner, not wanting to acknowledge her, cheeks puffing up.

Patiently, Chuzheng asked, "If you don’t practice speaking, how are you going to communicate with me?"

"Hee!" Don’t want to.

"Fine, if you don’t practice today you’ll have to sleep here. Don’t come back with me!" Chuzheng suddenly spoke harshly.

Bei Chi looked up sharply, his gray eyes slightly flickering with anger.

As if questioning Chuzheng: How can you treat me like this? You’re a bad person!

"See, if you don’t learn to speak, I don’t even know what you want to say now." Chuzheng spread her hands: "You can’t even curse at me."

Chuzheng only asked him to learn simple vocabulary, just to understand.

Otherwise, communicating this way, she really couldn’t understand, and it was causing her hair to fall out from stress.

Bei Chi sulkily lowered his head, plucking at the dead grass in his hand.

Finally, maybe he thought Chuzheng made sense, he needed to learn to speak so he could curse at her!

So Bei Chi started to practice slowly.

"Hee... Hee hee..." However, most of the time, he could only produce such sounds.

But after some practice, there was a bit of progress; at least he could make other sounds now.

Chuzheng took him out for a breath of fresh air every day. It was what made Bei Chi the happiest, and he was willing to practice then.

But sometimes his playfulness got the better of him.

No different than a child a few years old.

"Hee hee hee hee!" Bei Chi came bouncing out of the woods, pouncing directly onto Chuzheng.

Chuzheng was caught off guard and, unprepared, they both fell into the grass behind them.

"What are you doing?" Chuzheng, nearly winded and out of breath: "Trying to crush me..."

Bei Chi leaned in, biting Chuzheng’s lip, teeth grazing her lips.

Chuzheng’s intended gesture to push away turned into hugging him, whispering: "Hungry again?"

"Mmm..." Bei Chi muttered vaguely in response.

Chuzheng noticed that Bei Chi got hungry much faster than other zombies; even though he could go days without eating, he would show signs of hunger.

Moreover, Chuzheng also noticed that Bei Chi’s skin tone had lightened, and even his gray pupils had faded significantly.

His eyes had a lively aura, no longer vacant.

Chuzheng’s palm swept across his back, her voice low: "No biting, I’ve taught you that."

"...Mmm." Bei Chi tilted his head, smacking his lips, leaning in again.

He retracted his teeth, their soft lips met, intertwining, the soft and tender sensation like jelly.

Bei Chi was momentarily puzzled—what was jelly?

But soon he cast that doubt aside and continued.

However, Bei Chi soon got impatient; he liked using his teeth to bite, didn’t like doing it this way.

But biting her would anger her, make her fierce...

Bei Chi was so tangled up that his whole face scrunched up.
