Chapter 3040: Entering the Treasure Vault

"Yes."

Wyatt Barnes nodded.

In the lower realm of South Heaven’s Ancient Realm, leaving aside what he had plundered from others, he himself had obtained two pure defensive King Grade Immortal Artifacts that had been nurtured by Immortal Sovereign powerhouses.

"Mm."

Liam Davidson nodded, then raised his hand; the sword in his hand suddenly trembled, sweeping up a spray of sword flowers that, from afar, looked like dazzling ice blossoms.

In the next instant, a layer of golden radiance bloomed atop the sword flowers, while faint ripples spread around them, clearly caused by another method.

"This sword of mine, besides the foundational ’Metal Element’ Profound Truth of the gold-attribute Law Rule, will also be fused with the gold-attribute Law Rule’s Cutting secret technique..."

Just as Liam Davidson’s sword was undergoing countless transformations, he timely spoke to remind Wyatt Barnes, "The Cutting secret technique is one of the two most terrifying attacking Profound Truths within the gold-attribute Law Rule, equal in fame to the Penetration secret technique."

Almost as Liam Davidson’s voice fell, the sword in his hand gave a shake; the swirling sword flowers instantly merged into one, finally turning into a single sword ray that howled toward Wyatt Barnes.

Whoosh!

The launched sword ray was like an enraged dragon galloping forth.

Yet when the sword ray had sped halfway, it began to compress and condense at an extremely fast speed, finally transforming into a long golden filament.

As the golden filament swept through the air, the air emitted a shrill buzzing sound, as if it might be sliced apart at any moment.

"What a sharp strike... So this is one of the two strongest primary offensive Profound Truths of the gold-attribute Law Rule, the ’Cutting secret technique’?"

Wyatt Barnes had previously learned a bit about the Profound Truths of the gold-attribute Law Rule from the Taixuan Divine Gold, and knew that the two strongest primary offensive Profound Truths of the gold-attribute Law Rule were the ’Cutting secret technique’ and the ’Penetration secret technique’.

As Liam Davidson’s attack swept out, Wyatt Barnes’s figure shot forward, attempting to evade the strike, but he quickly discovered that this blow seemed to have locked onto him, leaving him with no way to dodge.

Besides, his speed was still not as fast as this strike from Liam Davidson.

Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi!

...

The golden filament swept through the air as if it could tear space and shred everything, falling down toward Wyatt Barnes.

Since he could not evade, Wyatt Barnes no longer tried to dodge and chose to take it head-on.

On the surface of his body, the illusory shadow of a solid black armor appeared, and then the Immortal Origin power into which he had fused the foundational ’Earth Element’ Profound Truth of the earth-attribute Law Rule flowed into it as well.

The Monarch Level Immortal Method ’Immovable Bright King’, the Monarch Level Divine Ability ’Purple Energy from the East’, and the Heaven-tier auxiliary Divine Ability ’Minor Devouring Technique’ were also unleashed at just the right moment.

In an instant, Wyatt Barnes went all out in defense.

At the same time, the power of the Hongmeng Divine Soil also appropriately surged out from within Wyatt Barnes’s body, merging into the black armor’s illusory shadow.

Immediately, around the black armor’s illusory shadow, strands of clearly visible crystalline refracted light appeared, making the black armor seem as though it were coated with a layer of crystal.

"This is... the primary defensive ’Crystal Barrier secret technique’ of the earth-attribute Law Rule!"

Liam Davidson’s eyes lit up. As the Sect Leader of the Baopu Immortal Sect, he was naturally quite familiar with the characteristics of various Law Rule Profound Truths.

The Crystal Barrier secret technique was one of only two Profound Truths among the many Profound Truths of the earth-attribute Law Rule that were entirely targeted at defense.

"Your auxiliary Divine Ability isn’t a Monarch Level Divine Ability... As for Law Rule Profound Truths, you’re on par with me. I’d like to see whether you can block this strike of mine!"

Liam Davidson felt a bit of anticipation. As his will moved, that golden filament, like a blade capable of cutting everything, swept down toward the black armor illusory shadow that had risen over Wyatt Barnes’s body.

"Kid, use the Gravity Space secret technique... so he doesn’t notice anything off about the Crystal Barrier secret technique formed by my power."

The childish voice of the Hongmeng Divine Soil rang out at just the right time.

"Alright."

As Wyatt Barnes responded, he also began to unleash the Gravity Space secret technique of the earth-attribute Law Rule; a repulsive force that could not be considered strong swept out, enveloping the golden filament that was scything down from midair.

In the next moment, the golden filament encountered a certain degree of resistance.

Of course, this bit of resistance was nothing to the golden filament; after a slight pause, it continued to relentlessly lash down toward Wyatt Barnes.

"Oh? Gravity Space secret technique?"

Liam Davidson’s eyes lit up again. "Although you haven’t fully comprehended it yet, you’ve already reached the threshold. Comprehension is only a matter of time..."

"This is truly unexpected."

"Not yet a hundred years old, a peak Love Rowan Upper Immortal, having comprehended the earth-attribute Law Rule’s Earth Element Profound Truth, Crystal Barrier secret technique, and Gravity Space secret technique... A monster like this has never appeared in the recorded history of Mystic Abyss Mansion’s territory over the past several tens of thousands of years."

"It seems that this time, our Baopu Immortal Sect has picked up a treasure!"

At this moment, Liam Davidson completely acknowledged Wyatt Barnes. With a single thought, that golden filament slicing through the sky instantly dispersed into the void.

"Hm?"

Seeing Liam Davidson withdraw his offensive at the critical moment, Wyatt Barnes was stunned, completely unsure what the Sect Leader of Baopu Immortal Sect meant by this.

"I’ve already seen your strength... That is enough."

Liam Davidson said with a smile.

At the same time, he glanced at Grant Graham, who had risen into the air alongside them. "Senior Brother Grant, this trip has been hard on you... Leave what comes next to me."

"Alright."

Grant Graham understood what Liam Davidson meant—nothing more than that, after witnessing Wyatt Barnes’ talent and insight, Liam intended to personally welcome Wyatt into the Sect, so that Wyatt would develop a sense of belonging toward the Bao Pu Immortal Sect.

After all, nothing makes one feel a sense of belonging to a Sect more than being personally received by the Sect Leader.

So, after Grant Graham greeted Wyatt Barnes, he tactfully took his leave.

"Wyatt Barnes, I’ll take you to our Bao Pu Immortal Sect’s treasure vault now... Originally, I agreed to let you choose two items inside. But after meeting you, I feel as if we’re kindred spirits at first sight, so I’ll give you one more item—you may choose three items in total."

Once Grant Graham left, Liam Davidson said to Wyatt Barnes with a smile.

"This Liam Davidson... what a clever way of winning people’s loyalty!"

Wyatt Barnes naturally saw that Liam Davidson was buying his goodwill—one could also say he was intentionally selling him a favor.

"Sect Leader, if I find a third item I like in there, I’ll be sure to accept this favor from you."

Wyatt Barnes said with a smile.

The meaning behind his words was very simple:

After choosing two items from the Bao Pu Immortal Sect’s treasure vault, if there was a third item he liked, he would then accept this favor from Liam Davidson.

If there wasn’t anything he liked, he wouldn’t take this favor from Liam Davidson.

"We’ll do it your way."

The smile on Liam Davidson’s face didn’t change, but inwardly his heart rippled, "This Wyatt Barnes, though young, is no easy character... An ordinary person, faced with such temptation, could never remain as calm as he is!"

"Someone like this, unless he dies halfway, will be an absolutely terrifying figure once he grows up... In the future, not to mention the stage of Mystic Abyss Mansion—even the stage of the South Heaven’s Borderlands might not be able to contain him!"

With that thought, Liam Davidson no longer dared to underestimate Wyatt Barnes just because he was young and currently weak.

The Bao Pu Immortal Sect’s treasure vault was protected by layer upon layer of formations, and it was said that even an ordinary Immortal Sovereign expert would be unable to break them.

For that reason, the Bao Pu Immortal Sect’s treasure vault had no guards.

Because there was simply no need!

"Wyatt Barnes, don’t think it looks easy just because I’m bringing you in... Without me leading the way, even an ordinary Immortal Sovereign wouldn’t be able to force his way in."

All the way down, after passing through a web of underground passages, they arrived before an altar, and Liam Davidson spoke to Wyatt Barnes.

Wyatt Barnes nodded.

In fact, along the way, seeing Liam Davidson solemnly activating and then closing one formation after another, he could already tell how meticulous the formations protecting the Bao Pu Immortal Sect’s treasure vault were—far beyond ordinary formations.

Now, the altar that appeared before Wyatt Barnes’ eyes was a standalone altar, not very large, with a human-shaped statue standing atop it.

The statue depicted a Daoist priest, holding a three-foot longsword pointed straight at the heavens. Though it was only a statue, it exuded an overwhelming aura.

"This statue is of Perry Hanson, the founding ancestor of our Bao Pu Immortal Sect."

After bowing three times to the statue, Liam Davidson spoke to Wyatt Barnes.

Immediately afterward, under Wyatt Barnes’ gaze, Liam Davidson raised his hand and executed an extremely complex set of hand seals, continuing for a full quarter of an hour.

At the end, in the air before him, as his hands traced out one trajectory after another, a diagram condensed from Immortal Origin infused with the basic metal-attribute Law Rule’s fundamental profundity, the element of metal, gradually appeared, radiating dazzling golden light.

Finally, once the diagram fully burst into golden brilliance, it seemed to come alive, then flew toward the statue on the altar.

Once the golden light–emitting diagram shot into the statue, the statue’s eyes suddenly lit up, shooting out two beams of golden light.

At the same time—

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

...

Accompanied by consecutive sword cries ringing out of thin air, streaks of golden sword light shot out from the tip of the three-foot longsword in the statue’s hand, finally weaving together and fusing with the golden light from the statue’s eyes.

Whoosh!!

Crash!!

...

The fused golden light instantly transformed into a massive beam, falling straight down toward Wyatt Barnes and Liam Davidson.

"Relax your whole body—do not resist."

Liam Davidson warned Wyatt Barnes.

Almost as soon as Liam Davidson’s words fell, that golden beam had already enveloped Wyatt Barnes, giving his entire body a sensation of being pulled.

Wyatt Barnes had originally planned to struggle against that sensation, but after hearing Liam Davidson’s words, he immediately abandoned the thought of resisting.

"Is this... a teleportation array?"

As the pulling sensation brought by the descending golden beam grew stronger and stronger, Wyatt Barnes’ vision suddenly went black, and his feet felt light.

In that instant, he realized that the golden beam was in fact the effect of a teleportation array acting on him.

When light returned before his eyes, Wyatt Barnes discovered that he was already standing inside an incomparably spacious cave abode.
