Chapter 769: Chapter 353: An Interesting Misunderstanding—Is It Really a Misunderstanding?

"Oh, you’re talking about that old antique." Kira was packing, not even bothering to turn her head, her tone seemed somewhat indifferent.

"It just arrived yesterday, a collector went bankrupt and it’s here on consignment. Why, are you interested?"

"How much is it selling for?" Riven’s voice was filled with awe and fascination.

Kira paused her work, turned around, and announced an astronomical figure: "Fifty thousand US Dollars."

This price, like a cold bucket of water, instantly doused all the flames of fantasy in Riven’s eyes.

She stared blankly at the board, and after a few seconds, exhaled deeply, displaying a bitter smile mixed with helplessness and acceptance.

Kira looked at her expression, walked over, and gently nudged her with her elbow, her tone carrying a hint of comfort and business-like calmness: "Hey, snap out of it, Riven."

"It’s just a piece of old wood from decades ago, a thing with no value for its price."

"You can only look at it but not use it. Even if you buy it, you wouldn’t let it touch a drop of seawater. So what’s the difference between it and a painting hanging on the wall?"

"Such items are meant for those Middle Eastern oil kings with money to spare, or some Russian tycoon wanting to hang ’art pieces’ in their home."

"Let them flaunt it at parties, boasting to their friends about owning Eddie Aikau’s spirit. That’s not something for us real wave riders to do."

She paused, seemingly recalling something, her tone softened, carrying a hint of apology and affection.

"I know you like it. If it were cheaper, I’d definitely get it for you as a gift. Unfortunately... this guy is absurdly expensive."

A trace of warmth flickered across Riven’s face, but she quickly shook her head, her face resuming that cool girl’s distinctive ease and confidence.

"Come on, Kira," she laughed, patting Kira’s shoulder, comforting her instead.

"You’re right; it’s just an exhibit. And what I need is a comrade who can ride waves with me, not a deity I need to worship carefully."

She turned around, looking back at that legendary surfboard, but this time, her gaze no longer held a desire for possession, only admiration for a pioneer.

"Eddie’s spirit is in the ocean, on the waves, not trapped in a piece of wood worth fifty thousand US Dollars. Seeing it in person is already satisfying."

"Alright, let’s not talk about these absurdities." She looked at Lin Yu’an, returning to her vibrant coach persona.

"Our genius captain is still waiting to settle the bill and start his culinary journey!"

These words were full of insight and openness; she clearly knew what she wanted, understood what she couldn’t have, and could accept and let go with grace.

This carefree attitude is far more charming than those girls who throw tantrums over things they can’t get.

Lin Yu’an stood aside, taking in the entire scene.

He saw Riven’s eyes light up instantly upon hearing Eddie Aikau’s name. He also noticed her undisguised longing and disappointment upon hearing the price.

"Let’s settle for these we just picked," Lin Yu’an’s voice drew everyone’s attention back to the ongoing transaction of over twenty thousand US Dollars.

"Alrighty!" Kira immediately regained her professional sales enthusiasm, starting to scan those expensive gear at the cash register.

Regulators, computer watches, BCD, thrusters... with each item scanned, the total price was rapidly rising.

Riven, meanwhile, was on the side, helping to repack the scanned items into bags. There were so many things, they quickly piled up into a small mountain by the counter.

"Too many things," Lin Yu’an looked at the mountain of gear, turned to Riven, speaking in a tone as natural as arranging a small task.

"Riven, could you please bring a big shopping cart from the entrance? Otherwise, we can’t carry it all."

"No problem." Riven nodded straightforwardly, turned around, and walked towards the store entrance.

Just as Riven’s figure disappeared beyond the end of the aisle, Lin Yu’an silently pushed the black credit card in front of Kira.

He looked at Kira, speaking in a calm but undeniable tone quickly: "Add fifty thousand to just now."

Kira’s hand paused abruptly while scanning, she lifted her head, looking at Lin Yu’an in disbelief: "What did you say?"

Lin Yu’an glanced at the legendary surfboard on the wall, "Charge an extra fifty thousand US Dollars for that old piece of wood, I’m buying it."

Kira was stunned, her mouth gaped, feeling as if her brain was not quite functioning.

Lin Yu’an gave her little time to react, continuing to add: "Swipe the card, keep quiet. After we leave, could you please send it to Blue Water Sailing Academy."

Kira looked at the man in front of her, even her heart, accustomed to major events, couldn’t help but race.

"Are you... serious?" she instinctively lowered her voice, leaning forward slightly, her eyes filled with curiosity and inquiry.

"Are you really going to give her such an expensive gift? That’s fifty thousand US Dollars, not five hundred. You’re... really interested in our Riven?"

"I don’t get it. Other than being pretty, having a great figure, a good personality, and a nice family background, what else is there to catch your eye?"

Lin Yu’an couldn’t help laughing, the words seemed to praise Riven so much while still asking him what attracted him.
