Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1584: The Assassin’s Anomaly

Chapter 1584: The Assassin’s Anomaly

The assassin suddenly moved, and the latter was so fast that Wang Wei almost could not react. Luckily, he had turned one of his techniques into a passive one. As such, the invisible fate threats connected to his nerves reacted, allowing him to counter the opponent, forcing the assassin backward.

’What exactly is her Dao?’ Wang Wei asked. The moment he laid eyes on this person, he tried most of the means he knew to gather information. However, the assassin’s dress was the perfect design of Anti-Information. So, Wang Wei had no choice but to peek at her blueprint.

From her existence, he learned a few things, like the fact that she was a woman, but most of the information was useless. When Wang Wei wanted to learn about things related to cultivation, they were all blocked. The piece of information made Wang Wei squint, but now was not the time to be theorizing. Instead, he steeled himself, knowing he might have to fight a battle with limited information.

The assassin’s move suddenly increased. Her body moved so fast that it appeared she was teleporting around Wang Wei. However, her attempt was useless. Every time she moved in one direction, it so appeared that fate had decided that gravity would suddenly fluctuate in that area, thus drastically decreasing her speed.

Wang Wei was not about to stand aside and allow the enemy to dominate this battle. So, he used his Fate Eyes to predict her next movement. So, when she appeared above his head to stab him, he materialized a few strings that instantly blocked the surrounding space-time and all other escape routes.

However, the female assassin’s response was calm. A golden halo appeared underneath her feet, and once the strings approached, her speed suddenly increased. In fact, every time she was about to touch one of the blockage methods created to trap her, her body’s speed would further accelerate.

’Repulsion?’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’Her body can repel any power that comes near her, but the repulsion is not a form of defense, but a way to increase her speed to escape. Does she cultivate Speed Dao?’

Wang Wei did not know whether he was right, but this was all the information he could gather, so he acted on it. He activated his Order-Disorder Dao.

[Order: No one can move faster than the speed of light.

[Disorder: Speed has been redefined. If you want to break the limits, you must solve the new equation.]

The laws of Heaven and Earth suddenly changed. Wang Wei and the assassin suddenly found their speed reduced to the level of turtles. However, this was the least of their problems. According to this spell, the assassin can move faster as long as she figures out some kind of equation.

Unfortunately, the rules were designed to benefit her target. By redefining speed, the normal equation of distance over time no longer applies. The worst part is that the equation for speed could change every second and does not need to follow the laws of physics. Only by finding the right equation can any of them break the limit of the new order established.

Wang Wei — who created this spell based on the Critical Hit System that he once discovered — had ample problems calculating these nonsensical equations, but the same could not be said for the assassin. So, after figuring out the equation, Wang Wei suddenly broke the speed limit.

He appeared above her head and stamped on her face, sending her crashing to the ground. His body paused, which would be fatal for battle at such a high level, but the limit of speed made it a non-issue. He figured out another equation, and his body moved. He was so fast that he arrived before the assassin crashed on the ground.

Wang Wei punched her spine, trying to break it. Of course, his true intention was to spread his Ultimate Dao Will inside her body. One of the advantages of Wang Wei’s Dao Will Technique is its ability to bypass defenses. With the notion that it is fated to exist in a certain location, his True Will can bypass most defensive measures. However, it was another thing to ensure it stays.

When facing Peak Paragons, Wang Wei can have his True Will fated to remain in one place. However, this method did not apply to other Primals. Primals’ Dao Will or Willpower Manifestation also has their own attribute, meaning they have ways to remove foreign wills.

The assassin flew upward as a cracking sound followed her body. Wang Wei quickly figured out the new equation, but by the time he had succeeded and moved in for an attack, the assassin’s body had disappeared.

His danger sense activated, and his body moved of its own accord. With the fate strings connected to the River of Fate, his reflexes were guided by the past, present, and future itself. As such, few things should be faster than he could react. However, this woman reached such a level of speed.

Wang Wei barely moved his head away, but her attack cut off a chunk of his shoulder. However, the danger had just started. Wang Wei’s body moved instinctively by shrinking his heart and reallocating it to another area of his body. This move was right in time, as a small sword pierced his chest, spreading a Dao Will like it was a virus.

Places like his heart, spine, or head may no longer be weak spots for a higher being like Wang Wei. However, these areas are more susceptible to Dao Wills. Once they are infected, it’s way more challenging to clean them of these powers.

Wang Wei did not panic despite the tight situation. Instead, he used a nuclear option. He released an explosion of the [Power of Nothingness] to annihilate everything in his surroundings. His action did not kill or injure the assassin, who was moving too fast for him even to understand. However, it slowed her enough for him to perceive her.

He altered his destiny to become someone cursed by knowledge, which enhanced his detection abilities. Wang Wei then realized the source of her drastic increase in speed. Her technique was similar to Ji Lanfang’s. She temporarily became immune to the laws between Heaven and Earth that could restrict her speed. In other words, friction, gravity, space-time, and numerous other factors were no longer determining how fast she went.

’Something is wrong,’ Wang Wei thought. This brilliant technique should have been the definitive evidence he needed to conclude that her Dao was speed. However, he noticed an anomaly: the characteristic of Dao Will was not speed, but adaptation and change. The assassin removed Wang Wei’s Dao Will from her body by having her own will adapt to his fate power and transform into something that could counteract it.

Boom!

Wang Wei saw a flash of light, and before he knew it, his left arm was missing. However, a glint flashed in his eyes. ’She adapted to the [Power of Nothingness], allowing her to tap into her previous speed.’ He was not sure her Dao was Adaptation, but something still baffled him: how did she use the Speed Dao so well?

The way she utilized Speed Dao was similar to someone who had it as a primary Dao, rather than someone who used other Daos to enhance Speed Dao. ’I’m missing something,’ Wang Wei thought. However, now was not the time for all of this. He was still in danger and needed a solution.

He raised his left hand to cast a spell: [Nothingness Black Hole]. A translucent orb appeared above Wang Wei’s palm, shaking the entire domain. The Khan and Terracotta General were wise to move away from this area after Wang Wei used his Order-Disorder technique.

Everything must one day return to nothingness. Whether it is all creation, the universe, space-time, and maybe even fate — all things must return to the source, and the source is nothingness. Backed by this concept, the translucent black hole in Wang Wei’s palm started to draw everything in its surroundings, including the speedy assassin.

She immediately tried to escape by putting enough distance between herself and her target. However, her attempt was futile. The black hole pulled everything in its direction, including the very concepts she used to create her technique that allowed her to be immune to specific laws.

The assassin would not accept her fate, so she fought fiercely. A projection of the River of Time materialized between Heaven and Earth, directly linking with her. She used its power to boost her attempt to run away, but it was futile.

Wang Wei’s technique was technically not an Ultimate Skill, but it had similar potency. Without worrying about replenishing his soul, Wang Wei boosted his spell with a significant amount of energy from his Nothingness Wheel.

The assassin’s mask flew out of her body into the blackhole, revealing a beautiful face with blue eyes and red hair. However, no one cares about her appearance, especially the assassin, since her life is in danger.

Her body suddenly trembled, and then two other versions materialized. One version suddenly tried to travel to the past to escape, the second headed to another timeline, and the last one headed to the future.

’An Ultimate Escape Skill?’ Wang Wei thought with a frown. ’She may be a B-Class Primal.’
