Chen Shu coughed once and declared, "I, the Nanjiang Bandit, never beat around the bush! One price: five hundred thousand!"

"???"

Du Ming's eyes bulged, his face a picture of utter disbelief.

Had he heard that right? Someone was extorting a proctor in the middle of the Gaokao?! And right in front of the cameras?!

You're fucking insane!

"Teacher, just five hundred thousand! Fresh air delivered to your home!"

"Oh, give me a break..."

Du Ming turned and walked away, finally understanding the true meaning of those four words: Nanjiang Bandit.

"The opportunity won't knock twice! Teacher!"

Chen Shu hollered after him, not expecting such stone-cold resolve.

"Let's fly in the direction of stinkier air!"

Chen Shu cracked a grin. The Mutant Thunderbird wiggled its rear and shot off in another direction.

You really are a despicable piece of work!

Half an hour later, Du Ming simply couldn't take it anymore.

"Cheaper! Fifty thousand! That work or not?!"

"Deal!"

Chen Shu immediately tossed the mask over. Money earned was money earned — it was free inventory anyway.

"Teacher, need me to write you an invoice? You can expense it."

"Give me a break..."

Du Ming took the gas mask and promptly put distance between himself and the three of them, saying nothing more.

He had proctored exams over a dozen times, but he had never, ever encountered an examinee like this.

The trio pressed onward, taking in the current state of Lieyang Hills. Their expressions turned distinctly strange.

"The dosage might've been... a little heavy..."

The grassland below was practically carpeted in excrement. The stench lingered stubbornly, refusing to disperse, and not a trace remained of the picturesque scenery from days past.

It could probably be renamed Poop Hills now.

"Am I gonna get fined..."

Chen Shu rubbed his chin, a hint of panic creeping into his eyes.

"I think letting this guy take the Gaokao was a mistake."

In the distance, Du Ming let out a sigh, gazing at the fields of feces and sinking into deep contemplation.

Lieyang Hills had been thoroughly wrecked. It would likely need some time to self-purify before returning to normal.

Suddenly, rustling sounds came from up ahead.

Several Fire Rage Rabbits were wandering nearby, looking as though life had lost all meaning.

"Food!"

Chen Shu grinned. He was starving.

The Mutant Thunderbird swiftly closed in. The Fire Rage Rabbits showed no sign of alertness.

Just as the three of them were about to move in for the kill, the entire group of Fire Rage Rabbits stayed right where they were... and squatted down to relieve themselves.

"Seems like they've all eaten the laxative..."

The three exchanged glances, their expressions filled with helplessness. This scene was seriously appetite-destroying.

The Mutant Thunderbird flapped its wings, hoping to find some beasts that were still clean.

But after several hours...

The three arrived at a grim truth: every beast pack in the vicinity had been poisoned.

"Forget it! We'll pull out tomorrow!"

The three came upon a hill that was barely free of the stench and decided to rest there for the night.

Xu Xingxing asked, "Chen Pi, you think we'll get points deducted..."

"Nah, it's not like there's any major impact."

Chen Shu shrugged. Though honestly, even he wasn't entirely sure — the affected radius might have spread a bit too far...

Still, the drug's effects would wear off eventually. Probably just lasted a day or two.

Xie Sunan said dismissively, "Taking down four Lord-rank beasts? Forget messing up the local area — even if we wrecked the whole alternate dimension, it'd be worth it!"

Compared to Chen Shu's nuke, laxatives were nothing but a minor nuisance.

The three ate some of the food they'd brought, crawled back into their tents, and prepared to sleep through the night.

......

Several kilometers away from where the three were camped, there was a small lake.

The water was crystal clear, and even the surrounding grassland was pristine and clean, as if completely untouched by the laxative fallout.

A flock of Blazing Light Eagles soared past overhead.

"Coo! Coo coo!"

Several of the eagles' stomachs began churning, and a powerful urge to let loose surged through them.

When they spotted the pristine lake below, their eyes lit up as if they'd discovered a treasure trove.

Seven or eight Blazing Light Eagles cried out and descended directly to the lakeshore.

Scree!

In that instant, the flock's leader shuddered — a bloodline warning flared within it, telling it not to approach the lake.

But the rest of the stomach-aching eagles could no longer hold back. They lined up right at the lake's edge and began... releasing.

"Mmmm~~~"

The feeling of everything rushing out in one torrential sweep left them refreshed beyond belief, and they couldn't help but let out low, blissful cries.

The demonic plopping sounds proved contagious, spreading to the other Blazing Light Eagles...

In the end, the small lake was completely surrounded by them.

As for the leader, it had long since forgotten the bloodline warning and joined its underlings in emptying its bowels...

The once-clear lake water turned murky and foul, an overwhelming stench spreading in all directions — a sight too revolting to look at directly.

The Blazing Light Eagles had no idea. This was the absolute peak of their entire beast lives!

Their expressions full of satisfaction, they shook their rumps and prepared to make a getaway.

In that very instant, the calm lake suddenly boiled over...

Gurgle~ gurgle~ gurgle~

The lake water grew scalding hot, bubbles bursting continuously, the rising heat only intensifying the stench.

Hm?

The Blazing Light Eagles turned to look back, confused as to what was happening.

The depths of the lake blazed with daylight brilliance, as if a sun itself were submerged at the bottom.

The dazzling light was impossible to look at directly, but the Blazing Light Eagles sensed an instinctive danger.

Just as they were about to spread their wings and take flight, a blinding radiance erupted!

Fwoosh!

In the blink of an eye, the lake blazed with boundless light, the entire night sky swept away by the brilliance in a flash.

The light flared and vanished — and the Blazing Light Eagles had disappeared without a trace along with it, not even a single mark left behind.

Splash!

The lake water splashed in all directions as a terrifyingly fearsome beast emerged!

It resembled a lion, but its body radiated white-hot light, like a miniature sun, exuding a crushing presence.

"ROAR!"

The White Lion caught a whiff of the surrounding filth, and its expression twisted into utter fury.

Had the era changed?

Now there were beasts that dared to shit on its head?!

ROAR!

A terrifying roar spread across tens of thousands of meters, reverberating between heaven and earth.

In the distance, every beast dropped prostrate to the ground, as if suppressed by the sheer authority of bloodline — even Black Iron Lords were the same!

Without question, a Black Iron King had appeared!

Several kilometers away, the Winged Caterpillar, which had been playing around, immediately went into convulsions, foam pouring from its mouth in symptoms far, far more intense than before.

"Awooo! Awooo!"

The husky bounced around the Winged Caterpillar as if watching a show, thoroughly enjoying itself.

Beside them, the Slime wore its usual blank, dopey expression — then went right back to snoring away.

Fortunately, the Mutant Thunderbird possessed slightly higher intelligence. It immediately recognized the presence of danger.

Its wings shook, and it ascended into the air on pure instinct, racing off into the distance.

In the distance, Du Ming's body jolted. He stared toward the source, several kilometers away.

As a Silver-rank Beast Tamer, a certain premonition had already formed in his heart.

"Damn it, what the hell did they provoke this time? It can't be one of those legendary things..."

Du Ming swallowed hard. Either it was a Silver Lord... or a Black Iron King!

[1] 黑铁君王 (Hēitiě Jūnwáng): Black Iron King — a King-rank beast at the Black Iron tier. Per the novel's blood-rank system (Ch214): Ordinary → Variant → Lord → King. Kings are sovereigns of their alternate dimension, incomparably beyond Lords. This is only the second King-rank beast encountered after the Fire Dragon (Ch213). The White Lion being "merely" Black Iron rank but King bloodline means it is the absolute apex predator of Lieyang Hills.
