Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1090 When the genious contemplates

[OP: ]

“You’ve told me so much about yourself, Nessy…”

It was late already. She should have gone to bed a while ago.

“Will you mind if I ask you something?”

“Why would I? Ask away, haha.”

After her brother and sister went about their own thing, and after the rest of the people in the house started doing their own thing to distract themselves from the worries regarding the two of them, playing around became… different.

“It’s something personal, so… I don’t think I should ask… you know… I don’t know who to ask these things.”

With the parents being there for her but being constantly worried about something else, Anna gave them the time that they needed with one another and decided to not bother them.

Also, after her elder siblings weren affected by happenings around them, they had absorbed themselves in training and though they gave her all the time she would have wanted, Anna knew what was better for the two.

Quin was there, but… she did not bother her, or Chry. Two of them needed to spend some time together by themselves.

The Povpoi were always there, Taika was there, and her elder uncle and aunt were there for her as well. Still, she was finding spending time with Miss Nerissa more fun than anything else.

Hearing her stories, hearing her experiences and telling her about her own time had been unexpectedly fun for her.

“Miss Anna. It’s fine. You can ask me anything if you want, and if you don’t, then you can just tell me what you want and I won’t say anything in response.

I’ll just listen, like you enjoy doing.”

Miss Nerissa was a nice person. To Anna especially, she was pretty good.

She was careful around her. She had to think about what she was telling her as to not influence her in any manner that she should not, however dealing with the nobles that come to her for poisons of various types had at least taught her how to handle her words.

“Oh… then…”

Sitting in their backyard garden, surrounded by flowers, Anna looked at the person before her with a worried look.

She had heard a lot of things from her. About her childhood, about the time when she had her first crush, she told her about her first dungeon experience, how she met her familiar, even about the times she faced death.

She had heard a lot from her… not just about the things related to her, but she had heard about what she liked, and what she usually did as well.

And, along with that, with everything that she told her, Anna also felt the emotions that Miss Nerissa had when talking about these things.

“Do you think… I can become as cool and strong as big brother or sister Elle? Will… will I be able to do cool things like the others?”

And after all that, after feeling all those emotions, with each day she spent with this person, she couldn’t help but think about herself.

About how she was much different from her.

About how there were so many things that excited her, but also so many things that, despite Miss Nerissa’s excitement, did not resonate with her.

There were some things that she did not understand… things like love and the various different emotions that she had felt from this person during their talks… and she just couldn’t help thinking about why she did not know about these things.

She thought about a lot of things when she was done talking with her. When she was training, she was thinking about why she was training or what this training meant, or how it could be connected with what she had heard from Miss Nerissa.

There were many thoughts in her mind at all times. She also thought about those things whenever she wasn’t doing anything, or even when she was doing something with the others in her house.

“Well…”

Miss Nerssa knew about her predicament. This little girl that she was looking after… she was unordinary.

“I have no doubt you will be as cool as them, in fact… I think you will be cooler in many ways.” She answered honestly with a smile, catching the attention of the young girl.

“Your Brother, Master Axion, is famous for his unique ideas and his many inventions but people don’t know about his magic and weapon prowess yet.

Your sister Elle is a known name in high society. Ladies from all around the continent want to meet her, just getting her attention is equal to getting the attention of a ruler for them, and yet they do not know about her true self at all.

They call your brother Alfred and sister Carla mad because all they do is practice their sword and magic and talk about those things. But in fact, they don’t know how fun both of them are.

I don’t know much about Miss Quin or Sir Chryses, but from what I’ve seen, the two are no ordinary individuals either.

Still, there are secrets that even they do not want the world to know about, Miss Anna.”

Miss Nerissa was talking about them as if she knew a lot about them already, yet Anna could tell she did not feel the same.

She knew these people after spending some time in this house, but she did not really know them yet.

Unlike Anna that was a little open with her, the rest were not the same.

Even if she was a guest in this house, she was still not a family member, so even though she was allowed to sit with them and eat… she did not know much about the intimate details about them.

And yet, she had seen and understood quite a bit about the people of this family after being with them over this short period.

“Unlike the rest of them, you don’t have any secrets yet. Perhaps there’s a reason you wear that concealing artifact around me, but I don’t want to know about it. I know I will get in trouble if I ask about them.”

Sure Anna had her secrets, but she had her reasons to keep it that way.

Other than that, she wasn’t actively trying to hide something from the others. Actually, since people didn’t know much about her in the first place, she was a different being compared to them.

“Being cool does not mean being able to cast unique and powerful magic, Young Miss. And it does not mean having the ability to use swords and weapons masterfully.”

Miss Nerissa knew just how different the meaning of the word ‘cool’ could be, and also what this child meant when she was asking her this question.

“Being cool simply means impressing someone with something the other finds interesting or intriguing or, sometimes, enviable.”

Definitions change with the understanding of the concept, but the inner feelings remain the same.

“One that can use Mana is cool for the children who know nothing about it,but to those who could use Mana, a true mage is what they will find cool, or a knight, for that matter.”

What one finds cool depends solely on their preferences or likeings. Sometimes, emotions are the one to draw the attention of others, but, unless one finds inner peace with who they are… this attention does not mean anything.

“Miss Anastasia.”

She knew the worries of this child and the reason for her contemplations. Her surroundings were simply filled with elements of envy and awe, with people that she could not help but respect and look up to.

Yet, before them, she found herself lacking in many aspects. Unlike them, even though she was old enough, she could not move as fluidly as her eldest sister, nor could she cast magic as effortlessly as any of her siblings.

She had a unique bond with the creatures of this house, with the Povpoi and the creatures that she met, but she could not tell what this connection was either.

“Anxiety and fear of being left behind is pretty common, so your concerns are understandable, young Miss.”

Miss Nerissa shook her head lightly as she gave her young friend a warm smile.

“However, you don’t have to worry about things like that at all.”

She was up late today, and she was up late yesterday as well. She slept soundly the day before that, but then again, a day before that, she was up all night, reading a book on the behaviours of different creatures until her Sister Zoe forced her to go to sleep.

She was young, pretty different from the others around her, but that did not mean she was untalented or worse than any of them in any manner.

No.

“You already are a cool person. In fact, people outside look forward to catching even one glance of you, of the Ruler of Heliox, as they’ve been calling you.”

Anna was special already. And there was no doubt about that… if only she could understand that…

“Ruler of Heliox…”

She had heard of it before. She knew people called her by different names. She knew quite a few of them actually.

“I see…”

But, perhaps, it was only now that she had realised the implication of having such a unique title.

“Thanks, Nessy.”

She really learned a lot from talking with this person.

It was strange actually since the things they talk about aren’t that unbelievable or special. They mostly are mundane talks of the past, and yet…

“Oh, silly. You don’t have to thank me for that~. I just told you what came to my mind~.”

They were strangely comforting to the girl that had always been sheltered and cared for by her family. Your next read is at My Virtual Library Empire

“Hehehe. I’m not silly. You are~.”

Perhaps, the reason she liked talking with this person and being with her… was because of the sense of freedom that she strangely felt when talking with him.

She couldn’t articulate it, but yeah. Perhaps, it was because of something like that.
