Chapter 2187 - 2183: Aimless Searching

  • Next Chapter

Lan Jing had no choice, she could only take Leizu to find Ye Fan.

But Lan Jing had no clue about Ye Fan at all, no matter how hard she searched, there was no trace of Ye Fan.

"Why are you following me? I told you, I have no way of finding out Ye Fan’s whereabouts. Last time finding Ye Fan was purely a coincidence, you can’t keep using me like this!" Lan Jing said, feeling very aggrieved.

"Only you can find Ye Fan. If I don’t use you, whom else can I use?"

Leizu looked furious, speaking almost in a threatening tone, "You better continue helping me find Ye Fan, otherwise I will kill you, and you won’t be able to complete what Ye Fan entrusted to you. Want to save the catastrophe? Hmph, you need my consent first. Do you think you have the ability to escape from my grip?"

"You are a bad person!" Lan Jing said.

"Whether I’m a bad person or not is not up to you to judge. Even if I’m a good person, I’m a bad person to you, because our goals are inherently different. I can still treat you with some patience now, but if you don’t help me continue looking for Ye Fan, or even help me find my daughter, I’ll make you know the consequences of offending me!" Leizu said sternly.

Lan Jing felt very aggrieved. Unable to find Ye Fan, she was passively exploited by Leizu.

So she could only aimlessly search for Ye Fan in the cosmos. Finding one person in such a vast universe, it was like searching for a needle in a haystack, with no hope in sight. She knew she was just accompanying Leizu, calming her urgency in finding her daughter. "Searching like this without a plan is no solution. You must have a target in mind when you brought me here?" Lan Jing suggested tentatively.

Leizu was caught off guard by the question. She truly didn’t know where to start searching, which led to the current situation, but she couldn’t admit not knowing, or she’d lose face. "Searching without a plan isn’t a solution? As long as we can find Ye Fan, I’ll spare no effort. Of course, my hope in finding him in the vast sea is slim, but with you along, there’s a bit more hope, isn’t there?"

Lan Jing ground her teeth in hatred, unable to fathom this strange woman’s ruthlessness, willing to do anything to achieve her goal. Sadly, she lacked the capability to escape the clutches now tormenting her. She was under someone else’s control, unable to anger her with words, nor defeat her with spells and run away. She could only adapt as things changed. "Although I have the ability to perceive external forces, it’s ultimately inferior to yours. You are an ancient cultivator with unrivaled power, to you I’m just an ant ready to be stomped at any time so I’ll listen to you. You must use your spells to first find the target, then I can assist you."

"What, are you daring to direct me now? Your words imply I need to follow your instructions?" Leizu felt perplexed, this girl appeared unyielding moments ago, now suddenly shifting to cooperate with me? What’s her plan, she wondered. Yet, upon reflection, she realized her power would easily prevent her from escaping, even with wings she couldn’t fly out of her grasp. "If you have a plan, speak directly, don’t beat around the bush. Perhaps if I’m happy when we find him, I’ll let you go."

Lan Jing was no fool, hearing those words, freedom would only come if she pleased her. This perverse old woman was hard to decipher, even if she helped find the person, she might be imprisoned long-term, unmet freedom was better fought for. "Of course I hope to find him quickly, that way you can return my freedom, and from then on, our paths won’t cross."

"Don’t waste words, don’t think distracting me will let you off. I warn you, delaying time will only be disadvantageous to you. If anything happens to my woman, I won’t spare you either." Leizu said viciously.

"I didn’t expect my fate to be so pitiful. If I fail to find him, it’s on me; if something happens, it’s still on me. Why doesn’t anything good come to me? So let’s talk business, we didn’t sense any life in the area we passed by. If we continue forward, I estimate it will be the same, and my confidence in finding isn’t high." Lan Jing muttered, unwilling to continue forward.

"Be quiet." Leizu suddenly snapped.

Just then, a massive mist appeared in front, growing closer and closer. Rather than floating toward them, it seemed the mist was moving in their direction. As the mist approached, a force accompanied it—a cold energy, freezing them from using spells. Lan Jing was so frightened she couldn’t speak, and her weak power forced her to retreat in the face of such a strong force. Leizu, far more powerful than Lan Jing, needed to stand forward now. She must unravel the mystery of the mist; it might relate to Ye Fan. Thinking this, Leizu gathered a beam of light, pushing it toward the mist. When the light collided with the mist, it began dispersing bit by bit, but Leizu’s power couldn’t defeat such a massive mist, prompting her to think of Lan Jing, "Lan Jing, quickly lend a hand, or you won’t escape either."

Lan Jing snapped back, shivering as she rose, putting forth all her effort, casting a faint light the mist dispersed more extensively, enough for Lan Jing to perceive the depths of the mist. It was merely countless tiny droplets, crystal clear, like innocent children laughing unaware of external dangers, while the cold mist outside acted as the protective deity of children before going out. Lan Jing was touched, what a beautiful scene, calm yet filled with loving care, "Stop struggling, I’ve sensed inside, there’s nothing. The person you’re searching for isn’t in here. Continuing to expend power only wastes our effort, stop immediately."

Leizu herself was already weary, and felt Lan Jing wouldn’t perform trickery now. She didn’t want to waste strength either and slowly retracted her energy. "Let’s bypass the mist, go." Leizu grabbed Lan Jing, evading the mist like lightning.

The mist continued to drift as if nothing happened, akin to typical occurrences within the vast universe...

"Next time encountering such a scenario, perceive quickly, don’t waste my time. I don’t have much time for searching, precise location would be best!" Leizu said impatiently.

"I can’t help you much, my abilities don’t include finding Ye Fan, if you possess such ability, why need me to assist?" Lan Jing seemed slightly resistant, speaking.

Leizu angrily retorted: "Don’t say such things, keep searching, if we still can’t find him, even in my death, I’ll take you with me!"

Leizu felt her power waning, her tone carried urgency.
