"Why?! You have no idea how terrifying her healing and regeneration abilities are. In a single morning, we’ve already lost three Divine Demon Realm experts! One of them died because his grievous wounds were untreatable."

"If Liu Miaomiao were here, this tragedy wouldn’t have happened. Are you going to just stand by and watch more Divine Demon Realm experts fall?" As Chen Yushi spoke, the aura around him suddenly changed. It was no longer as amiable as before, but became sharp and intimidating.

The others in the vehicle instinctively took a step back when they saw Chen Yushi on the verge of erupting. However, Lin Xinghai, who was facing him directly, showed no change in expression whatsoever.

He spoke calmly and firmly, "If Divine Demon Realm experts fall because of this, I will mourn them, but I will not change my decision. Furthermore, we are still just students. You don’t have direct authority over us. If you have an issue, you can take it up with the academy."

The atmosphere instantly grew heavy and oppressive to the extreme.

Just when everyone thought Chen Yushi was about to erupt in fury, he took a deep breath and calmed himself. "Can you tell me your reason for not letting her become a temporary medic for the military?"

"You seem to have misunderstood. I’m not opposed to Liu Miaomiao becoming a temporary medic for the military. I’m opposed to her going to the front lines. The reason is that I don’t believe you can protect her," Lin Xinghai stated.

Hearing that this was Lin Xinghai’s worry, Chen Yushi was somewhere between amused and exasperated. He quickly explained, "If that’s your concern, you can rest easy. We’ve set up several forward operating bases on the front lines. Those locations are completely secure and are permanently garrisoned by at least three Divine Demon Realm experts."

"Even if those forward bases are attacked, I can guarantee you that essential personnel like Liu Miaomiao will be evacuated immediately."

Unexpectedly, after Chen Yushi finished, Lin Xinghai just frowned. "So this is how you higher-ups approach the Abyssal Plane? With such a dismissive attitude?"

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Chen Yushi frowned as well.

"If you can recognize Liu Miaomiao’s value, do you really think the Mutated Zombies and the true masters of the Abyssal Plane can’t?"

"Liu Miaomiao is only at the Blood Qi Realm, yet her Superpower can already influence the tide of battle for Divine Demon Realm experts like you. What happens when she reaches the Marrow Tempering Realm, the Body Shaping Realm, or even the Divine Demon Realm? Anyone with a brain can imagine what a terrifyingly powerful role her Superpower would play on the battlefield."

"So, in that case, how many Fourth Level Mutated Zombies—each comparable to a Divine Demon Realm expert—do you think the enemy would send to attack your forward operating bases?"

"Once the enemy learns of Liu Miaomiao’s existence, I’m certain they’d be willing to send thirty or forty Fourth Level Mutated Zombies to encircle and destroy you. That’s a real possibility. Don’t doubt their resolve. Remember, just two months ago, they launched their ’Extinction Plan’," Lin Xinghai said, his expression grave.

At first, Chen Yushi was still unconvinced, but his expression grew progressively more serious as Lin Xinghai spoke. He only realized how careless he had been when he heard that Liu Miaomiao was still just at the Blood Qi Realm.

His attention had been entirely focused on Liu Miaomiao’s Superpower. He had completely overlooked the fact that she was a prodigy who had yet to mature. Her future contributions would undoubtedly be far greater than her current ones.

And when Lin Xinghai brought up the Extinction Plan, it was like a splash of cold water, snapping him to his senses.

Indeed, considering how much importance the Abyssal Plane has recently placed on targeting geniuses, everything Lin Xinghai had said was highly plausible.

"You’re right. I was shortsighted," Chen Yushi said after a long silence.

Hearing this, everyone else in the vehicle looked on in utter disbelief. A Divine Demon Realm expert was actually apologizing to a student.

If word of this got out, it would surely cause a huge sensation.

"Even the wisest men can slip up. I’m sure General Chen was just so worried about his comrades that he overlooked this detail," Lin Xinghai said with a smile, his tone no longer confrontational, easing the tension in the air.

Then he continued, "Besides, Liu Miaomiao’s contribution might not be as significant as you think."

A flicker of confusion crossed Chen Yushi’s face, but he quickly noticed the fine beads of sweat on Liu Miaomiao’s forehead and the paleness of her complexion.

It was clearly a result of overexerting her Superpower.

He instantly understood what Lin Xinghai meant and realized he had overlooked yet another detail.

"Miss Liu Miaomiao, how many Divine Demon Realm experts can you treat with your Superpower?" Chen Yushi asked quickly. The question was critical.

"That’s hard to say. Divine Demon Realm experts have incredibly strong Physiques, so healing them requires an enormous amount of Life Force. To completely heal an injury like the one you have, I’d need to use at least half of my Superpower," Liu Miaomiao answered honestly.

’Just as I thought...’ Chen Yushi sighed inwardly.

If Liu Miaomiao could only treat two severely wounded people, then her usefulness wasn’t as great as he’d first imagined.

"In that case, how about this: when we get back to the Military Department, I’ll submit a request to my superiors to have you transferred to us as a temporary medic. You’ll stay at the main base. We’ll transport any severely wounded personnel back to you for treatment. That way, we can completely guarantee your safety," Chen Yushi said, looking at the two of them.

Although Liu Miaomiao’s impact wasn’t as game-changing as he’d thought, she was still indispensable. Take his own case, for example. Even with the best medical technology at the main base, it would take at least two to three days to regenerate his organ.

But with Liu Miaomiao’s healing speed, that time could be compressed from two or three days into just five or six minutes. He could even return to the front lines right now.

"Of course, that’s no problem," Lin Xinghai said with a broad smile. "However, I’d like to propose a few adjustments to the terms of this cooperation."

Chen Yushi instantly grew wary. Despite having dealt with Lin Xinghai for only a short time, he could already tell this young man was difficult to handle. He was afraid he was about to pull some other shenanigans.

"What kind of adjustments?" Chen Yushi asked, his tone cautious.

"As you know, we’re currently competing in the Inter-Academy Tournament. With the talent and strength Liu Miaomiao has displayed, I’m confident she’s fully capable of taking second place on the Points leaderboard. The academy will award at least 9 million Credit Points and all sorts of other prizes for that!"

"If Liu Miaomiao is transferred directly to the Military Department to serve as a medic, wouldn’t we lose out on those 9 million?"

"Wait!" Chen Yushi quickly cut in. "You’re not suggesting the Military Department should compensate Liu Miaomiao for those 9 million Credit Points, are you? Let me tell you, that’s not extortion, that’s just robbery!"

"How is that extortion? Besides, that’s not what I’m suggesting. I’m proposing a different model of cooperation. You post missions for healing Divine Demon Realm experts, and I’ll have Liu Miaomiao accept them and provide the treatment. Wouldn’t that solve everything?"

"Of course, healing a Divine Demon Realm expert on the brink of death is extremely difficult. Plus, you’ll surely have time constraints. Therefore, I believe it should be, at a minimum, a Third Level or even a Fourth Level mission—the kind that starts at 500,000 Credit Points." Lin Xinghai finally revealed his true objective.
