Invincible Snake Emperor
Chapter 763 - 693: More Than One Ghost Wanderer
Chapter 763: Chapter 693: More Than One Ghost Wanderer
Seeing the little monster in his palm completely burned away, Tu Xiao’an let out a sigh of relief.
’Killing a ghastly thing like that is the only way to feel at ease.’
In a way, he had avenged Fang Yong and the others from the Demon Management Bureau.
Suddenly, Tu Xiao’an’s eyes shot open. ’Where’s the lower half of the Ghost Wanderer’s body?’
’Gone?’
Tu Xiao’an had intended to burn the other half of the body as well, but when he looked down, all he found was a puddle of green blood. The Ghost Wanderer’s lower half was gone.
A deep frown creased Tu Xiao’an’s brow.
’Could the Ghost Wanderer still be alive?’
Surviving being split in two wasn’t all that surprising. But for it to still be alive after he had incinerated its entire upper body, including the head...
...that was just unbelievable.
’It can live as just a lower body, without a head?’
Tu Xiao’an searched the area carefully, but he ultimately had to admit it: the lower half of the Ghost Wanderer had escaped.
’Damn, that’s impressive.’ It was a real eye-opener for Tu Xiao’an.
’Something like that is even possible.’
’Whatever. If the Ghost Wanderer is really still alive, it’ll probably come after me again.’
Now that Tu Xiao’an had a handle on the little cyan monster’s abilities, he wasn’t particularly scared.
If it came courting death again, Tu Xiao’an wouldn’t mind sending it on its way for good.
After a moment’s thought, Tu Xiao’an proceeded to bury the corpses scattered on the ground.
Two holes, one in the chest and one in the forehead, had claimed their lives. They had died tragically. To have struggled so hard to reach Rank Three of Enlightenment and transcend the mundane, only to die such a worthless death.
’Sigh... What a waste.’
After burying the bodies, Tu Xiao’an immediately set off. He had already wasted too much time.
Long after Tu Xiao’an had departed, a strange Energy surged on the leaf of a small tree. The lower half of the Ghost Wanderer materialized.
A cyan glow coiled around its body, making it look incredibly strange and unnatural.
As the cyan Energy grew more and more intense, the severed lower body began to elongate, sprouting new flesh and blood.
In just a few moments, the half-body had even regrown the Ghost Wanderer’s head.
HISS...!
Its body fully restored, the Ghost Wanderer arched its tiny frame. Its eyes glinted with a cold light as it flicked its forked tongue.
If Tu Xiao’an were here, he would have been utterly shocked. To regrow its entire upper body, head and all, was simply outrageous.
However, a closer look at the Ghost Wanderer revealed that its already slender, tiny body had shrunk even further.
It was now about the size of a cigarette.
Furthermore, the Ghost Wanderer’s aura had grown incredibly faint. It stared in the direction Tu Xiao’an had gone, its gaze filled with venomous resentment.
But no matter how resentful it felt, the Ghost Wanderer didn’t dare to provoke him for now. It needed time to recover.
Suddenly, another cyan light emerged from the small tree, manifesting as a long, slender shadow.
When the shadow revealed its true form, even the air itself seemed to tremble. It was a Snake, identical to the Ghost Wanderer.
Even its aura was identical.
It was merely larger than the first Ghost Wanderer, with a slightly stronger aura.
A second Ghost Wanderer had appeared.
HISS...!
The Little Ghost Wanderer instantly grew wary upon seeing the Big Ghost Wanderer appear, overcome with a terrible feeling.
ROAR!
The newly appeared Big Ghost Wanderer radiated a Spiritual and Fierce aura. It opened its mouth and lunged, Devouring the Little Ghost Wanderer.
It was over in the blink of an eye.
The Little Ghost Wanderer that Tu Xiao’an had failed to kill ended up in the other’s belly.
The Big Ghost Wanderer’s aura exploded in strength, and its body grew larger, stretching to a full meter in length.
Then, the Big Ghost Wanderer turned to look in the direction Tu Xiao’an had gone, its expression like that of a predator that has spotted its prey.
......
Tu Xiao’an continued to venture deeper into the Red Mist Area. The psychedelic colors of his surroundings were dazzling, like something out of the Fenhong Realm.
The Skeleton Monster continued to lead the way, "ying-ying-ying"-ing as it went. At times, it even seemed to want to communicate with Tu Xiao’an.
Unfortunately, its gibberish only made Tu Xiao’an roll his eyes.
Tu Xiao’an could only barely grasp its meaning when it used simple gestures.
As he walked, Tu Xiao’an suddenly saw a woman in pink appear before him. She was draped in red robes. Below her long, jade-like neck, her pale, alluring bosom was half-concealed, as smooth as white jade. Her waist was so slender it seemed you couldn’t even wrap a hand around it.
Her long, shapely legs were bare, and even her delicate, lotus-like feet seemed to silently beckon, extending a seductive invitation to Tu Xiao’an.
She was a beautiful woman, stunningly so. Her presence here, in the middle of the Red Mist Area, added a distinctly seductive air to the surroundings.
Tu Xiao’an stared in a daze, then glanced at the Skeleton Monster. It seemed completely oblivious to the woman in pink and simply continued to lead the way.
He smiled, a red glint flashing through his bewitching eyes. Then, he shook his head sharply.
After shaking his head, he looked again. The seductive figure of the woman in pink was gone.
’Looks like I need to control my breathing as much as possible, too.’
Tu Xiao’an knew it had been a hallucination. In a hellish place like this, where would a woman in pink just pop out to welcome you?
It wasn’t as if he was headed to a red-light district.
Breathing in too much of the air within the red mist had a major impact on both one’s body and soul.
Simply put, it was easy to lose one’s mind, to lose oneself.
The dense red mist here made it feel like an Immortal Realm. Those with weaker souls would begin to hallucinate. In more severe cases, they would become completely lost and turn into mindless zombies.
Tu Xiao’an’s Consciousness Power was immense, yet even he experienced hallucinations with a moment of carelessness.
This just went to show how terrifying the depths of the Red Mist Area truly were.
"Ying ying ying..."
Suddenly, the Skeleton Monster began gesturing wildly at Tu Xiao’an, as if trying to tell him something.
Its bony fingers pointed in a specific direction.
Tu Xiao’an understood. The Skeleton Monster had noticed something was wrong.
Following the direction the Skeleton Monster was pointing, Tu Xiao’an saw that it was indicating a tree.
This tree wasn’t short or strangely shaped. On the contrary, it was magnificent and imposing.
With a single glance, Tu Xiao’an was startled to see dozens of people—men and women alike—sitting cross-legged on the large tree. As he looked, all the people in the tree opened their eyes, their gazes locking onto him in unison.
Tu Xiao’an was alarmed. Their eyes were bloodshot and filled with madness.
They stared at him like predators that had just spotted their prey.
’This is bad. These people have lost their minds and become mindless husks,’ Tu Xiao’an silently warned himself.
’But why aren’t they killing each other? Instead, they’re all sitting peacefully on different branches of this tree.’
’But when they see an outsider like me, their eyes turn red, they radiate killing intent, and they look like they want to devour me whole.’
YING YING YING!
The Skeleton Monster kept pointing insistently at the large tree.
Tu Xiao’an then noticed a strange, spiral-shaped fruit growing at the very top of the large tree.
It hung there, all alone, and didn’t emit the Spiritual Qi characteristic of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures. It seemed to be completely colorless and odorless.
Yet, the Skeleton Monster was incredibly agitated and excited as it pointed at the fruit.
It looked as if it wanted to snatch the fruit and devour it that very instant.
’Could this fruit be the Dao Fruit that Martial Cultivators speak of?’
The thought flashed through Tu Xiao’an’s mind.
