Invincible Snake Emperor

Chapter 758 - 688: Why Do You Want to Kill Me?

  • Next Chapter

CLANG...!

The instant Tu Xiao'an turned, the long saber pressed against his chest, the blade searing hot.

"You dare sneak-attack me?"

Tu Xiao'an's expression instantly darkened. A chill flashed through his eyes as his entire being erupted with intense Killing Intent.

The one who sneak-attacked him was none other than Song Ao, the one-eyed man who had just pledged his loyalty.

'How is this possible?' Song Ao was stunned. He had put his full power into a strike against a completely defenseless opponent, yet his saber hadn't pierced the man's body.

'What terrifying physical defense.'

'Just like that Little Green Qilin Dragon King from before.'

Tu Xiao'an let the saber remain pressed against his chest, his voice as cold as ice. "Why did you try to kill me?"

Song Ao stared intently at Tu Xiao'an's chest, where he suddenly noticed patches of dazzling, iridescent scales appearing.

'What kind of scales are these?'

"You're not human!" Song Ao's expression changed drastically as he understood in an instant.

"HAH...!"

Song Ao let out a roar as a pale golden Light Shield materialized around him. He then shot backward, retreating explosively.

'I can't believe this powerhouse is from the Demon Race.'

'How could a human possibly have scales?'

Tu Xiao'an allowed Song Ao to put distance between them, an unbreakable Frost seeming to settle between his brows. He repeated, "Tell me, why did you try to kill me?"

He didn't get it; he couldn't understand. Song Ao had witnessed his immense power, so why would he do something so foolish as to launch a sneak attack?

'What could possibly be the reason?'

It wasn't as if they had some deep-seated grudge against each other.

"If I want to kill someone, I kill them. This is Skeleton Mountain. Is it so strange for someone to die here?" Song Ao said from behind his pale golden Light Shield. "What kind of Demon are you? You hid it well. You even managed to fool me, a War God."

"You want to know?" The corner of Tu Xiao'an's mouth curled into a wicked smile. "You're a dead man walking. I'll let you die with the answer."

Instantly, a majestic Giant Snake materialized above Tu Xiao'an's head. It reared back and let out a heaven-shaking roar at Song Ao, a truly terrifying sight.

Immediately after, an incomparably terrifying Snake King aura began to fill the air.

"So, you're a Snake Demon."

Song Ao's expression twitched. 'But this Snake Demon's Realm…?'

The moment the aura washed over him, he couldn't help but tremble.

"I'll ask you one last time. Why did you try to kill me? I saved your life."

Tu Xiao'an's voice was utterly devoid of warmth. He was furious.

Yin and Yang follow different paths; humans and demons walk separate roads. Humans know the terror of a Demon, but a Demon knows the poison in a human heart.

Song Ao had just given Tu Xiao'an a visceral understanding of that saying.

"Enough with the nonsense. You're lucky I didn't manage to kill you. Let's part ways here."

Song Ao's War God aura surged. He abruptly flung his saber at Tu Xiao'an. The blade flew through the air, bursting into roiling flames as a new form appeared.

It had become a Devouring Fire Dragon, Spiritual and Fierce.

Meanwhile, Song Ao himself turned and fled toward a region of dense fog.

Tu Xiao'an remained motionless. His bewitching eyes watched the Devouring Fire Dragon approach. With a slight narrowing of his eyes, his Consciousness Power surged forth.

DANG...!

The Fire Dragon froze in mid-air before him, then reverted to its saber form.

The saber clattered to the ground with a sharp, metallic ring.

'I didn't expect him to have another blade. So he wasn't unarmed,' Tu Xiao'an mused. He watched Song Ao flee out of the corner of his eye and smiled.

It was a smile as pleasant as a spring breeze, yet it seethed with Killing Intent. His Snake King's Eye flickered with an inscrutable red light, as if it held an entire Cosmos within.

"Anyone who tries to kill me, Tu Xiao'an, meets the same fate."

Before the whispered words even faded, Tu Xiao'an had vanished.

When he reappeared, he was already in front of Song Ao, wreathed in an aura of black flame, like the Death God returned from Hell.

"Freeze."

Instantly, the space around them solidified. Song Ao's pale golden Light Shield shattered, and his body was rendered completely immobile.

"You…" Song Ao was aghast, his face pale. His eyes held the sheer terror of a hunted animal.

"Since you dared to launch a sneak attack, you must have been prepared to die," Tu Xiao'an said, staring at him coldly.

Song Ao knew his opponent was a supreme expert, but this was absurdly strong.

'I'm a War God, yet he can just… immobilize me?'

"Disappear, you despicable coward."

As the fear of death washed over him, Song Ao's brow tightened. He squeezed his eyes shut, bit his tongue hard, and his face turned crimson.

Suddenly, the air seemed to boil as an unprecedentedly terrifying power erupted from Song Ao's body.

'Hmm?'

PFFT...!

Song Ao spat a mouthful of blood and stumbled backward. He could move again.

Surprise flickered in Tu Xiao'an's eyes. 'A mere low-Level War God managed to break my Consciousness Power's hold?'

'That power he just unleashed was so strong… and so strange.'

'Hmph. No matter. Anyone who becomes a War God is bound to have a few tricks up their sleeve.'

"Ice Seal."

Song Ao had just regained his freedom, but before he could even catch his breath, a deep blue aura enveloped him, and he was instantly frozen into an ice sculpture.

"The ancients say a drop of kindness should be repaid with a gushing spring. I saved your life, yet you repaid my kindness with malice. You deserve to die."

With that, Tu Xiao'an threw a punch at the frozen Song Ao.

POW...!

Ice shattered and flew everywhere. Song Ao let out a wretched scream as his body was sent flying, blood jetting from his mouth in a thick column.

"'If I want to kill someone, I kill them?' Only *I* have the right to say that, you understand?"

Tu Xiao'an's figure moved like a phantom, appearing behind the airborne Song Ao to land another punch.

SQUELCH... CRACK...!

"Ah, ah…" A horrific sound escaped Song Ao's mouth. His whole body trembled as every bone within it shattered. His eyes bulged, and then he went silent.

THUD!

Song Ao's body finally slammed against a nearby tree, then seemed to float, drifting aimlessly.

By the time he landed, he was a stiff corpse.

"Why did you have to seek your own destruction?"

Tu Xiao'an said with cold indifference as he walked over to Song Ao's corpse.

No matter how strong he became, he wouldn't kill without reason. But if someone tried to kill him, Tu Xiao'an would show no mercy.

'That one-eyed piece of trash deserved to die.'

But even after killing Song Ao, Tu Xiao'an still didn't understand why the man had attacked him.

'There was absolutely no reason.'

HISS~~

Suddenly, a bloody hole appeared on the forehead of Song Ao's corpse, and a slender, palm-sized green snake crawled out.

It then stared coldly at Tu Xiao'an.

'Huh?'

'A Snake?'

Tu Xiao'an was shocked. A slender little green snake had just crawled out of Song Ao's forehead.

'What kind of Snake is this, daring to look at a Snake Emperor like me with such cold eyes?'

'It's got some nerve. It doesn't seem to be afraid of me at all.'

After a few cold glances, the little green snake arched its body and shot off toward the Red Mist Area in a flash of green light, moving with incredible speed.

"Trying to run from me, the Snake Emperor?"

Tu Xiao'an laughed as he unleashed his Snake King aura, blanketing the entire area.

Under this aura, any Snake Species would be forced to prostrate itself in terror, an instinctual command they couldn't resist from the very depths of their souls.

And yet… the little green snake seemed completely unaffected, vanishing into the Red Mist Area in the blink of an eye.
