Invincible Martial Artist from Foreseeing Opportunities
Chapter 89 - 79: Taming the Ghostly Roar, Searching for the Profound Skill
However, the only way to obtain the Essence of Life Qi at present was through intimacy with Ji Xiaolu. This energy was akin to the Death Qi he had acquired earlier after severing half of the Heart-devouring Demon’s body. Neither seemed to originate from the mortal realm!
Xu Guang nervously looked at Ji Xiaolu. "Lu, are you alright?"
"Husband, do you still want more? I... I really can’t take it anymore."
Xu Guang was speechless, but he still asked, "I mean, do you feel any discomfort in your body?"
Even though they were essentially an old married couple, Ji Xiaolu couldn’t help but blush at these words. She buried her head under the quilt and spoke in a muffled voice, "If I were uncomfortable, would you stop coming?"
"No, I wanted to ask if you’ve noticed any changes in your body recently."
Hearing the seriousness in her husband’s tone, Ji Xiaolu carefully poked her head out. "Are you really not going to ask for more?"
Seeing Xu Guang’s face darken slightly, Ji Xiaolu hurriedly hugged him and said, "Speaking of changes, I think it started that day at the Outer City Square. I felt like my body was floating, though I thought it was just fear.
"Today, when we went out of the city and I saw the Celestial Stele with you, my body felt warm and very comfortable the whole time."
Hearing this, Xu Guang couldn’t help but feel surprised. He wondered what kind of constitution Ji Xiaolu possessed. The Celestial Stele was an object from the Profound World. How could it affect her?
A trace of gloom inevitably clouded his eyes. Without another word, he held Ji Xiaolu’s hand, channeling Power into her and carefully sensing her condition. Just like before, there was nothing. She seemed to truly be nothing more than an ordinary person.

[Searching... 2%. Estimated Time: 10 days]
He mused over the ten-day waiting period. The results were loading much faster this time. It was likely because he had learned information about the Profound World. The more knowledge he had in his mind, the less time the Searcher needed. He had tested and proven this long ago.
Xu Guang breathed a slight sigh of relief. With his mother having just passed away, he cherished Ji Xiaolu more than ever.
On the third day, Song Tao came over alone. His tone carried a hint of mystery.
"Any news?"
Song Tao nodded, his expression reflecting his shock. "I’ve seen the Ghostly Roar that Lord Ming mentioned. It’s indeed massive and possesses a terrifying presence."
Xu Guang stood up, joy coloring his face. "Did you make the arrangements?"
"Your subordinate has been buying up Sedatives and sleeping potions in the city’s black market these past few days. I dumped ninety percent of them into the ancient well Lord Ming spoke of. No matter how strong that beast is, it surely won’t feel good after that," Song Tao said in a deep voice.
Xu Guang was overjoyed. He had revealed most of his strength by now, which had earned him a high position and stability. However, he who does not plan for the future will soon find sorrow at his door. He needed some backup plans, and the Blood of Transformation was a crucial part of that. The Ghostly Roar was the first trump card he was preparing for himself.
Ever since Ping’an Square fell into his hands, he had ordered Song Tao to keep watch near the ancient well in that deserted courtyard and report back immediately if there was any movement. Now, good news had finally arrived.
Xu Guang immediately brought Song Tao to the Outer City. He carefully inspected the ancient well where the Ghostly Roar resided, and Song Tao opportunely brought over the prepared meat and blood.
"Lord Ming, can you really do this alone?" Song Tao asked hesitantly as he set the meat down. He had encountered a Ghostly Roar before while catching River Woe at Eagle’s Beak and knew the terror of this Alien Species. Although Xu Guang was powerful, inside this narrow well...
Xu Guang smiled, gratified by Song Tao’s loyalty. "It’s fine. I never do anything I’m not confident in. Go stand guard outside, and don’t let anyone in."
"Yes, sir."
After Song Tao left, Xu Guang stood at the mouth of the well. Even though he had seen the Ghostly Roar several times, being in such close proximity still made him nervous. He took out a stone and tossed it into the well.
The sleeping Ghostly Roar jolted awake instantly. Its long body abruptly reared up, and it immediately spotted Xu Guang’s smiling face. As if feeling provoked, the Ghostly Roar flew into an instant rage. It opened its jaws and spewed out a blast of freezing mist.
Xu Guang’s expression changed. He shook the Big Spear in his hands, creating a vibration in the air that scattered the icy mist.
This Alien Species was incredibly formidable. He was certain the Ghostly Roar had been affected by Song Tao’s Sedatives, as the speed at which it raised its tail was noticeably sluggish. Yet even so, the freezing mist it spat out was still so tricky to deal with.
Seeing this, he was delighted rather than alarmed. He reached out and gestured at the Ghostly Roar, seemingly taunting it. The creature grew even more furious. Four razor-sharp claws suddenly extended from its long body, and it sprinted rapidly up the walls of the well.
Xu Guang shouted, "Bring it on!"
He immediately brandished his Big Spear and engaged the Ghostly Roar in close combat. The beast was massive and covered in scales, making it impervious to blades and spears. Every time Xu Guang thrust his Long Spear, it only left a small dent at best; most of the time, it merely left a small white mark.
Xu Guang concluded that this creature was an almost Invincible existence among Refining Viscera Alien Species!
His pleasant surprise grew, and he swung his Big Spear with even greater strength. He even activated his Blood Bone State, relying on his tyrannical might to wrestle with the Ghostly Roar.
As the battle wore on, the deserted courtyard was practically reduced to ruins, but the Ghostly Roar’s movements were also growing slower and slower. Ultimately, it let out an unwilling roar before its gigantic body collapsed powerlessly to the ground.
Xu Guang breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at his tattered clothes and the bruises scattered across his body. He marveled at how truly terrifying it was that the beast could consume so many Sedatives and still fight him for so long before falling.
In the distance, the Ghostly Roar glared at Xu Guang with eyes full of hatred.
