Infinite Evolution: Dominating The Apocalypse With My God Tier Items
Chapter 405: Not Right!
Seth Duskreaver was finally out of his coma!
This news travelled far and wide, spreading to all ears paying attention to any news on him.
He wasn’t the only one to make a recovery today as Uriel Mormont also chose today to snap awake!
After this, all members of Team Apex were awake!
The presidential convoy streamed out of the White House a few minutes after this news got out, the other members of Team Apex moving even faster.
Some involved and influential parties also moved out to greet these two great evolvers, people like the Secretary of Defense Sir Billard Dorn and Ronald Hart, a head research specialist for the engineering team.
Multiple big names moved to greet Seth on this very day...
...
Walking into the air-conditioned premises of the health department.
Jack, Elaine and Brandon, who had abandoned all they were doing to get here, rushed to the reception desk.
The nurse quickly rose on seeing these familiar faces.
These guys came here often to check on their friends, in fact they themselves were once patients.
"Are they?" Elaine hurriedly asked, her voice strained.
She and the other two understood fully well what it felt like waking up from an injury of the mind.
The confusion, fear and negative emotion flooding their neurons all at once.
It was a scary feeling, one that pushed the mind into vulnerability, and they wanted to be there for their friends in such a vulnerable moment of their lives.
"Yes, both patients have regained consciousness..." the nurse responded, flashing them a friendly smile as she fished out some folders.
Opening the pages, she handed them a pen, "Now I’ll just be needing you three to write your names and sign here-" she had barely finished speaking when a wind swept past her.
The three figures before her turning into blurs and vanishing.
The nurse blinked, looking at the folder with all three names and three distinct signatures scribbled beside them.
"So fast... well, I can’t blame them..." the nurse muttered with a smile, shaking her head as she placed the folder back in place and took her seat.
She didn’t need to bother about directing them, they had been here too frequently to need her help in navigating their way to the same rooms they visited every day.
The three quickly arrived before a T-shaped junction in the hallway.
"Who do we go see first?" Jack suddenly asked, scratching his head, as he stared in both directions.
The other two sighed, the paths towards Uriel’s and Seth’s rooms were directly parallel to one another.
And with both waking at once it put them on quite the spot...
"I wonder if the news will get to Kylie..." Elaine suddenly muttered out of nowhere, whilst the other two remained silent.
Brandon sighed, patting her on the shoulder, "Forget it, she’s at the frontline, she doesn’t even know that he was injured... and I fear that’s the best for her."
Elaine sighed and nodded, understanding what he meant. Knowledge of Seth’s condition might just cause Kylie to worry, possibly even distracting her from her duties, especially given her current location and situation, the knowledge would only cause more harm than good.
"Anyway, you guys go meet Uriel... I’ll go greet big bro," Brandon suggested before taking the left pathway.
Elaine and Jack glanced at one another, nodding as both parties quickly moved towards the right...
And the path towards Uriel’s room wasn’t that far. In a matter of seconds the duo had arrived before the recovery chamber allocated for Uriel.
"Damn!" Jack sighed, scanning the cracks running through this side of the building, the lingering trace of lightning essence still sending faint sparks dancing in the air.
Jack didn’t waste time pushing the crumbling door open, revealing the shattered mess of a room.
They searched for Uriel, realizing he wasn’t on the crumpled mass of metal, fabric and foam that was left of his bed.
In sync, they turned to the windows, finding his frame just standing there still, his patient’s gown still on and fluttering from the wind flowing through the opened windows.
With his back still facing them, Uriel’s calm voice rang, "So we survived, huh?"
The two didn’t reply, they didn’t need to, and the moment Uriel turned towards them the duo rushed in for a warm, embracing hug.
Only those who had experienced the terror of that abyssal zone could understand the relief flowing through the veins of all three present.
Uriel couldn’t even stop the streak of tears flowing down his chin, he had never felt so grateful at being alive, especially since he had experienced death once.
Sometimes it was easy to forget that these brave warriors facing the worst of the horrors of this new reality were teenagers.
In any other time in the modern era, they’d be kids in the eyes of the world, still planning for college...
The group hug held for a few more seconds, all three remaining silent, there was nothing to say, they were just happy he was back!
Finally regaining his composure, Uriel retreated from their embrace, wiping his tears, and turned around, "I heard from the doctor that Seth is also..."
Jack nodded, "Yeah, Brandon’s over there."
"Good, let’s not make things hard for others, take me to his room, I’d like to see him also..." Uriel stated, dusting his hospital garments.
"I assume the president and the others will come knocking, it would be impolite to stress them or put them in the spot," he explained as he walked towards the door with the other two following behind.
They understood what he meant, the fact that he and Seth had woken up on the same day would put others in the spot.
Outside of Team Apex itself, aside from figures like the president himself, no one understood the hierarchy of the friends.
Things like who the officials came to greet first could cause misunderstandings and rumours, so it was best if both stars of the day were in one room.
That way even if both Uriel and Seth didn’t care who came to see them first, no one would have excuses to make up conjectures.
The three walked and chatted, with Jack and Elaine mostly doing the talking, updating Uriel on the present situation on the ground with the war and all.
In no time the group arrived before Seth’s room, staring at the intact door, Uriel leading the two took a deep breath and reached for the doorknob, opening the door in one swing.
Revealing the scene in the room before them, a confused Brandon, and a terror-stricken Seth staring at his trembling hands.
The three read the mood and understood instantly... Something wasn’t right...
