Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 79: Assembly Line Operation, Snatching the Wristbands
Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Assembly Line Operation, Snatching the Wristbands
At Seraphina Sullivan’s command, Sean Chandler didn’t hesitate for a second. He shot forward like an arrow from a bow, charging at the enormous Clucker!
The Clucker was clearly no pushover. Enraged by the sudden attack, its eyes flashed viciously as it let out a sharp, ear-piercing "SQUAWK!"
Its thick, steel-pincer-like beak whistled through the air as it lunged, pecking fiercely at Sean Chandler’s head!
If that peck had landed, his brains would have surely been splattered everywhere!
However, having consumed the [Power Apple] and awakened the [Monster Power] Skill, Sean Chandler’s Power, speed, and reflexes were far beyond those of an ordinary person.
With an incredibly swift sidestep, he precisely dodged the fatal peck.
At the same time, he pushed off from the ground, using the momentum to leap into the air. With an incredibly agile flip, he landed astride the Clucker’s thick neck!
Startled, the Clucker thrashed about, flapping its wings and jumping wildly in an attempt to throw him off.
But Sean Chandler’s legs were locked around the bird’s body like iron clamps. He wrapped one arm around the Clucker’s neck and cupped its chin with his other hand.
Then, with a sudden burst of strength—!
CRACK!
A sickeningly crisp snap of breaking bone echoed.
The Clucker, so ferocious moments before, instantly went rigid. Its massive body crashed to the ground, twitched a couple of times, and then fell still.
The entire process was swift and clean, over in the blink of an eye.
Ash, watching from the side, was dumbfounded. His eyes nearly popped out of his head.
He subconsciously muttered, ’I... Holy crap! This guy... How is he so strong?! Just how much Power does he have?!’
His eyes, as he looked at Sean Chandler, were filled with awe and disbelief.
Seraphina Sullivan quickly ran over, thoroughly satisfied with Sean Chandler’s combat prowess.
She drew her cleaver, ready to process her prize and carve out the edible portions.
But just as she raised the blade, she realized she had a serious problem.
’Ash is still watching!’
’If I just make such a huge chicken vanish right in front of Ash, how am I going to explain it?’
Seraphina Sullivan froze. She slowly turned to look at the shocked Ash behind her.
Ash flinched under her gaze.
Especially when he saw that familiar smile on her face—a little apologetic, yet utterly resolute.
His heart skipped a beat.
"Are... are you going to make me ’black out’ again?" Ash’s voice trembled with desperation.
Every day in the butchering room, he would inexplicably "black out" for a period of time.
Even he wasn’t dense enough to not realize it had something to do with Seraphina Sullivan.
He’d been playing dumb, not daring to call her out on it, simply because it was much safer to stick with her.
Seeing Seraphina approach with that same smile, Ash’s survival instincts kicked into high gear. He hurriedly added, "Ma’am! Just keep me safe! I... I won’t say a thing!"
Seraphina was amused by his reaction. She nodded. "Don’t worry. It’s a pleasure working with you."
Before she finished speaking, a familiar, cloyingly sweet scent wafted into Ash’s nostrils.
Ash’s eyes instantly went vacant. He stood ramrod straight, like a statue, once again under her control.
"All set," Seraphina said, clapping her hands together, free of any further concerns.
She immediately used her [Butcher] Skill, deftly processing the entire Clucker.
Then, she placed the carcass into her Storage Space.
The moment the Clucker was killed, the number on Sean Chandler’s wrist-mounted counter changed.
A [+1] symbol was clearly displayed.
Watching the numbers tick up on the screen.
Coupled with the new, high-quality ingredients in her Space, Seraphina Sullivan was in a fantastic mood.
"Back to work! Next target!" she said with a snap of her fingers.
She looked at the silent but devastatingly powerful Sean Chandler beside her.
Then she looked at Ash—obedient, if a completely useless fighter. Seraphina decided she couldn’t waste manpower; they needed an efficient division of labor.
’Sean Chandler and I will find and eliminate the targets, then hand the carcasses to Ash for initial processing. That way, we can quickly raise the kill count on our wrist devices and complete Mission Four more easily. Meanwhile, the ’semi-finished products’ Ash prepares will be easier for me to sort and store in my Space, maximizing our time!’
The more Seraphina thought about it, the more perfect this assembly-line operation seemed. They could grind the mission and stockpile resources at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone.
’Yep, that’s the plan.’
With the plan set, the three-person team immediately began their efficient operation.
Seraphina and Sean Chandler killed the animals and tossed them directly to Ash, who was tasked with basic processing like simple butchery.
To keep Ash safe, Seraphina also summoned Flora to protect him.
Flora didn’t stay idle, either. Seeing so many carcasses, it would occasionally switch to an all-you-can-eat buffet mode.
Gulping them down in large bites.
To find more targets, Seraphina took out the [Sound Wave Shocking Gun] and set it to low-frequency detection mode. Like an experienced Hunter, she began scanning for targets.
Sean Chandler stood guard at her side, ready to counter any sudden threats and deliver a fatal blow.
This Slaughter Pasture was far more vast and dangerous than they had imagined. Besides Cluckers, they also encountered tusked boars with iron-hard hides, strange-horned sheep that could spit corrosive saliva, and even bizarre, multi-tentacled creatures lurking in the swamps.
But Seraphina and Sean Chandler worked in perfect coordination.
[Wrist Device Count: +1...+1...+1...]
The numbers on their wrists ticked up rapidly.
At the same time, the "spoils" in Seraphina’s Storage Space piled up at an astonishing rate.
Whole Cluckers, plump boar haunches, massive racks of lamb... The dazzling array of items was like watching a large supermarket stock its fresh meat section.
The smile never left Seraphina’s face, her eyes curving into happy crescents.
’This isn’t some life-or-death battle royale,’ she thought. ’It’s a pleasant farm retreat and a zero-dollar shopping spree!’
However, the "harmony" of the pasture was soon shattered.
Just as they finished off another tusked boar and Ash was numbly bleeding the carcass, the nearby bushes began to rustle.
Three temporary workers emerged. They wore chicken butchery uniforms, were covered in blood and grime, and had vicious looks in their eyes.
They had clearly been through a few fights themselves. They looked exhausted, but that was overshadowed by the greedy glint in their eyes as they spotted "fat sheep."
They looked at Seraphina’s group of three.
The leader, a scar-faced man, licked his chapped lips, a vicious glint in his eye:
"Tch. Not bad, little lady. Quite a haul you’ve got there, huh? Be smart about this. Trade your wrist counters with ours, leave the piglet, and my brothers and I might consider letting you live."
From their words, Seraphina also understood a key piece of information.
In this slaughtering contest, it seemed you could kill other temporary workers and claim their haul as your own.
