Chapter 279: Chapter 279: Weapon Fusion Card, Successful Trade

Soon, the staff member in charge of distributing supplies called their names.

Seraphina Sullivan, Sean Chandler, Crystal Lynn, and the others stepped forward in turn to claim their rewards.

They each received an orange-red crystal, about the size of a ping-pong ball and warm and smooth to the touch.

It emanated a faint but continuous heat, dispelling the surrounding chill.

A thought sparked in Seraphina Sullivan’s mind.

[Item Identification] was activated.

[Warm Crystal]

[Effect: A special Energy Crystal that stores heat by absorbing sunlight or specific forms of Energy. When releasing this stored Energy, it maintains the temperature within a ten-square-meter area at a stable, livable level.]

"This crystal... is indeed a very practical reward. As long as it’s charged with energy, it can be used as a portable heater."

Seraphina Sullivan weighed the Warm Crystal in her hand, feeling very pleased.

With this item, she and Sean Chandler would have a reliable and sustainable source of warmth whenever they operated outside the safe zone for extended periods.

They would no longer have to rely solely on the RV or special cold-weather gear, giving them much more freedom of movement.

More importantly, it provided her with a perfect "cover story."

In the future, if she brought out any unconventional items or displayed a powerful resistance to extreme environments, she could just attribute it to the combined effect of the Warm Crystal and other unknown items.

At the same time, another thought was swirling in Seraphina Sullivan’s mind.

’Animals can become Players. The Splitting Demon Rabbit is definitely not an isolated case!’

’This information is vital. I have to find a chance to tell the safe zone’s leadership.’

’I need to warn them about potential animal players with all sorts of bizarre Abilities, to prevent another tragedy like what happened in Kaelen.’

Just as everyone finished collecting their rewards and began showing them to each other and discussing them, Justin Brooks and Jasper Drake, two of the safe zone’s core figures, walked straight toward Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler.

They clearly had something to discuss.

Seeing the two men approach, Dexter Luther tactfully said to Seraphina Sullivan, "Sullivan, we’ll leave you to it. Our squad has some business to attend to, so we’ll be on our way. By the way, you must find time to visit us where we’re staying. Morgan Brooks’s family has been wanting to thank you in person for healing him."

Morgan Brooks added, "Sullivan, you really have to come!"

After Dexter spoke, he didn’t wait for Seraphina’s reply and quickly led Chloe Lewis, Morgan Brooks, and Matthew Dawson away, as if he were afraid she would refuse.

’That guy... What’s he in such a hurry for?’ Seraphina Sullivan thought with a sense of exasperation as she watched their retreating figures, which looked like they were practically fleeing.

Justin Brooks watched Dexter Luther’s group depart.

He then offered an explanation on their behalf. "Dexter Luther’s [Shield] Ability is quite special. He’s been assisting the engineering department, trying to create a protective barrier on the safe zone’s outer perimeter using ice and snow. It’s a new strategy we’re trying against the extreme cold and other potential threats, so he’s rather busy."

His words revealed that the safe zone hadn’t grown complacent after a single victory and was still actively seeking ways to fortify its defenses.

Once Justin Brooks saw that everyone else had left, he got straight to the point. "Miss Sullivan, Mr. Chandler, I’ve come to see you today mainly to complete the trade we were unable to finish before."

Seraphina Sullivan remembered at once. Before the destruction of Kaelen, Justin Brooks had proposed a trade for the [Growth Potatoes] she possessed.

"Of course,"

Seraphina Sullivan nodded, then cut to the chase, raising the crucial question.

"But what are you offering for them this time?"

Jasper Drake, who was standing beside Justin Brooks, stepped forward. His voice was steady. "Miss Sullivan, why don’t you tell us what you need first? We’ll see if we can accommodate you."

Justin Brooks made a timely introduction. "Miss Sullivan, this is Jasper Drake. He’s a Player from the military and the primary person in charge of our safe zone’s agricultural gardens. If we can successfully introduce the Growth Potatoes, he will be fully responsible for their subsequent cultivation and distribution."

Seraphina Sullivan was no stranger to Jasper Drake.

She had already used her [Eye of Resume] to check his information and knew his [Plant Manipulation] Talent made him a natural at agriculture.

After a moment of consideration, she stated her terms directly:

"I want something that can directly increase my power. An Item Card, for example. A [Skill Upgrade Card] would be ideal."

She was keenly aware of the potential of her own Talent and Skills, making anything that could accelerate their growth priceless in her eyes.

When Justin Brooks heard the words "[Skill Upgrade Card]," a troubled expression crossed his face.

He shook his head with a wry smile. "Miss Sullivan, you’ve really given us a difficult task. A rare item like a [Skill Upgrade Card] is considered a strategic reserve even at the Central Base. We certainly don’t have any in our safe zone’s inventory."

Seeing a flicker of disappointment in Seraphina’s eyes, he quickly added, "However, we do have a [Weapon Fusion Card]. I don’t know if that would interest you?"

’A [Weapon Fusion Card]?’ Seraphina Sullivan’s interest was piqued.

’It wasn’t as direct as a Skill Upgrade Card, but it could still enhance the power of her equipment, making it a decent substitute,’ she thought.

’She had many older items that couldn’t keep up with her current power level; perhaps she could strengthen them through fusion.’

"A Weapon Fusion Card is fine," she said, nodding in acceptance.

With an agreement reached, Sean Chandler, without a word, took out his eye-catching [Sapphire Space Bag].

He swiped his hand over the bag’s opening, and a heavy sack of tubers with strange, spiraling patterns on their skins appeared in his hand. They were the [Growth Potatoes].

"These potatoes have special growing requirements; they need ample Energy and a specific soil environment."

Sean Chandler added the key information succinctly.

"But if cultivated successfully, they won’t grow like regular potatoes. Instead, they’ll grow into a kind of potato tree with a very large yield."

Justin Brooks and Jasper Drake listened as they accepted the sack of potatoes.

They exchanged a look, and both saw the surprise in the other’s eyes.

They weren’t just surprised by the peculiar crop, but even more so by how casually Sean Chandler had produced a piece of Space Equipment!

At this stage, that was an undeniable symbol of status and power.

"We understand. We’ll be sure to study them carefully and try to cultivate them as soon as possible," Jasper Drake said, cradling the potatoes as if they were seeds of hope.

Justin Brooks, in turn, retrieved the Weapon Fusion Card.

He took out a card that glinted with a metallic luster and handed it to Seraphina Sullivan.

[Weapon Fusion Card]

[Effect: Can fuse two weapons/pieces of equipment of the same type or with similar attributes. There is a chance to improve their Quality or grant a new trait. (Note: Fusion carries a risk of failure. Please choose your items carefully.)]

"Pleasure doing business with you," Justin Brooks said, extending his hand.

Seraphina Sullivan took the card, feeling its cool touch and the strange fluctuations of energy emanating from it. A satisfied smile spread across her face. "Pleasure doing business with you."

The mutually beneficial trade was thus completed smoothly.
