Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 278: Claiming the Subjugation Reward
Chapter 278: Chapter 278: Claiming the Subjugation Reward
After explaining the effect of the Warm Crystals, he paused.
He scanned the shocked faces around the room before continuing, "My second mission this time is to represent Central Base and distribute this strategic resource to all established, sizable, and secure safe zones within Arkadia."
Before he even finished speaking, the Space Ring on Gordon Chandler’s hand flashed repeatedly as he took out one Warm Crystal after another, all of the same size.
He stacked them neatly on the conference table, and they soon formed a small mountain.
A quick count revealed at least two hundred of them!
"There are two hundred Warm Crystals here—supplies from Central Base to support Vorlag City’s Safe Zone One."
Gordon Chandler said, "With these Crystal Stones, our medical staff can treat the wounded in warmer conditions, and our technicians can repair critical equipment without the severe cold interfering. We can even form more efficient outdoor search, rescue, and construction teams. They can carry these stones while they work, drastically improving our ability to survive and grow in this extreme environment!"
Wesley Moore strode forward and picked up a Warm Crystal.
The moment it touched his hand, he felt a gentle, continuous warmth emanating from within, quickly chasing away the chill from his fingertips.
His eyes lit up, and he gripped the Crystal Stone tightly in his excitement.
"I get it! This is fantastic! With these Warm Crystals, we can do so much more! We’ll be sure to put these resources to good use, build our safe zone more efficiently, and organize rescue teams to save more of the survivors still struggling out there!"
Gordon Chandler nodded. "That’s exactly what Central Base is hoping for. Which is why, Director Moore, I’m afraid we can’t stay for the victory celebration. We must set out for the next safe zone immediately to distribute these ’flames of hope’ as quickly as possible."
Although Wesley Moore was disappointed, he understood the urgency of their mission. He gripped Gordon Chandler’s hand firmly.
"In that case, I won’t insist you stay. Be safe! And believe me, this cataclysm will end one day! When it does, we’ll prepare the most lavish feast and celebrate with all of you!"
"Alright! You have my word!" Gordon Chandler promised solemnly.
...
By the time Sean Chandler told Seraphina Sullivan that the people from Central Base had left,
Gordon Chandler and his group’s helicopter had already flown far from the Vorlag safe zone,
disappearing into the boundless snow and wind in the distance.
Meanwhile, the military came to invite her and Sean Chandler to collect their rewards for the expedition against the Splitting Demon Rabbit.
Crystal Lynn and her sister, Freya Lynn, were also notified and went with Seraphina and the others.
Because she had successfully participated in the expedition and survived,
the punishment Crystal Lynn previously carried for "excessive self-defense" was formally rescinded.
She and her sister could finally escape the shadows of their past and live in peace within the safe zone.
They even drove their battered old RV right up next to Seraphina Sullivan’s, a clear gesture of sticking together and becoming neighbors.
Seraphina Sullivan didn’t say anything about it.
Seraphina Sullivan genuinely admired Crystal Lynn, who had struggled to survive against all odds and ultimately broken her own chains through her own strength.
’Now that their scumbag father was gone, their lives were bound to take a turn for the better.’
"Sullivan, what kind of reward do you think the safe zone will give us this time?"
On the way to the collection point, Crystal Lynn held her sister Freya Lynn’s hand.
Her face was full of anticipation and curiosity as she couldn’t help but ask Seraphina Sullivan.
Right now, what Crystal Lynn wanted most was to get stronger.
More than anything, she hoped to get more powerful pets.
If she had more helpers than just Beau in battle, her Beast Taming Talent could finally be used to its full potential.
"I’m not sure," Seraphina Sullivan said, shaking her head.
’I’m not too concerned about the expedition reward, anyway. After all, I’ve already secured the greatest prize.’
"Probably some practical items or resources."
"Over here! Sullivan, Crystal Lynn, over here!"
From a distance, they heard Dexter Luther’s familiar, booming voice calling out to them.
The four of them followed the sound of his voice and found Dexter Luther’s squad at the entrance of a makeshift tent.
Seraphina Sullivan also saw Morgan Brooks, who still looked a bit pale.
His right arm was properly secured.
"Morgan, how’s your arm feeling? If it’s still hurting a lot, I can give you another injection," Seraphina asked.
Morgan Brooks quickly waved his left hand.
He forced a smile. "No, no, it’s fine, Sullivan! Really! I’m not pale because of the pain."
He shot an awkward glance at Chloe Lewis beside him.
"It’s just... Chloe gave me some special healing potion she got from who-knows-what dungeon. It works great, it really does. The wound is healing super fast. It’s just... the taste is hard to put into words. It’s like... ugh. Anyway, I’ve felt a little sick to my stomach since I took it."
Hearing this, Chloe Lewis put her hands on her hips and glared at him. "Hey! You ungrateful jerk! I give you medicine out of the goodness of my heart, and you’re complaining about the taste? It works, doesn’t it? Fine, next time you get hurt, you can just do without!"
Morgan Brooks shrank back, muttering under his breath, "I would if I had a choice... Why don’t you try it and see how it tastes?"
Beside them, Matthew Dawson adjusted his glasses and cut off the pair’s bickering, steering the conversation back on track.
"Alright, that’s enough. I heard the reward for this expedition is something special, not the usual weapons or supplies."
Chloe Lewis patted the special-material uniform she was wearing.
"I’d say getting this official-issue cold-weather uniform is good enough for me!" she said, satisfied. "At least now when we go out on supply runs, we won’t have to worry about freezing solid. Speaking of which, I swear it’s gotten even colder since we got back. This damn weather never ends."
But Morgan Brooks sighed, "Those damn rabbits completely ruined my clothes."
Chloe replied, "No problem. Maybe you can trade your expedition reward for a thermal uniform."
Morgan Brooks: ...
He was left speechless.
The group chatted idly while waiting for the rewards to be handed out, the atmosphere feeling relaxed for a change.
"Get in here! We were waiting for you!"
The Sterling brothers, Forrest and River, had already arrived at the distribution point. Spotting Seraphina’s group at the door, they immediately waved them over with a shout.
With them was a young man with a world-weary look on his face.
It was Aaron Webb, the survivor from the destruction of Kaelen who had provided the crucial intelligence.
The group entered the spacious room temporarily serving as the reward distribution center. It was already filled with Players and military representatives from the expedition, all talking in small groups. The atmosphere was much more lively than it had been outside.
Many eyes lingered on Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler, filled with a mixture of awe and curiosity. Clearly, the story of how they had teamed up to "deal with" the main body of the Splitting Demon Rabbit had already spread.
Of course, most of the attention was on Sean Chandler. The main impression people had of Seraphina was that her suturing ability was very strong.
’This is exactly what I want,’ Seraphina thought. ’If the attention isn’t on me, I can slack off in peace.’
