Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 272: A Rabbit Meat Assembly Line? Interrogating the Splitting Demon Rabbit
Chapter 272: Chapter 272: A Rabbit Meat Assembly Line? Interrogating the Splitting Demon Rabbit
On the way back, the team followed their original plan and detoured to the marked cannery locations.
They hoped to bring back some precious food supplies to alleviate the safe zone’s pressing needs.
However, when the group pushed open the rust-spotted factory doors, full of hope, their hearts sank.
The massive warehouse was completely empty.
Only a few tattered cardboard boxes and caked-on stains remained scattered on the floor.
It was clear that someone had already beaten them to it, clearing the place out completely.
With their hopes dashed, the atmosphere inevitably grew somber.
The team wasted no more time. Victorious but unable to hide their exhaustion, they pushed on toward the Vorlag City safe zone at full speed.
Upon arriving at the safe zone, Seraphina Sullivan declined the invitation to immediately attend the post-battle summary and commendation meeting.
She left all such diplomatic matters to Sean Chandler.
Seraphina had more important things to deal with now.
The Splitting Demon Rabbit she had taken into the [Scavenger’s Farm] was still waiting for her.
She hurried back to her RV and locked the door from the inside.
Seraphina immediately focused her mind and entered the Space that belonged only to her.
However, the sight that greeted her made her freeze on the spot, her mind going blank for several seconds.
She had expected the Space to be a chaotic mess of battle scars, or at the very least, her pets warily guarding the subdued Splitting Demon Rabbit.
But the reality was...
Seraphina witnessed a "production line" so bizarre that she had to wonder if her eyes were deceiving her!
Flora was using the tough vines she controlled.
Like it was a punching bag, she had the pitiful, despair-eyed Splitting Demon Rabbit hanging upside down in midair.
Every so often, a vine would "gently" whip the Demon Rabbit’s body.
Each lash made the Demon Rabbit shudder instinctively, forcing it to split off one or two smaller versions of itself.
And these newly split, still-dazed little rabbits never even touched the ground before they were met with the next step in the process.
Below, Chubbs was like the most skilled of butchers.
The edges of its [Steel Wings] glinted with a cold, metallic light as it executed a precise glide. A flash of light, and the smaller rabbits were instantly sliced into evenly sized chunks of meat!
Immediately after, Tubbs took a deep breath, puffed out its chest, and unleashed a perfectly heated [Jet Flame].
It precisely swept over the falling chunks of meat, instantly grilling them amidst a SIZZLING sound and a tantalizing, charred aroma!
At the same time, a group of The Silenti, directed by their leader Moe, lined up like workers on an assembly line.
They mechanically and precisely sprinkled the cooked meat with various barbecue seasonings Seraphina had stored in the Space: chili powder, cumin, salt...
Finally, the all-red Ruby elegantly used its claws to rake the grilled rabbit meat onto a few large, clean leaves.
This completed the "plating" stage.
Though this step was purely for show, as the next second, the other "employees" who had been waiting eagerly swarmed forward.
They divvied up the still-steaming roasted rabbit and devoured it with a satisfying CRUNCH!
The entire process was smooth and fluid, efficient, eco-friendly, and self-sufficient.
It had formed a perfect "Roasted Splitting Demon Rabbit Production Line"!
Seraphina stared, utterly dumbfounded, her jaw nearly on the floor.
"What... What the hell is this?!"
As for the Splitting Demon Rabbit, hanging upside down and being continuously forced to Split...
The light had completely faded from its eyes, leaving only endless terror and numbness.
If it could speak, it would undoubtedly be letting out the most bloodcurdling accusation:
"Demons! You’re all Demons! Demons a thousand times worse than those humans!!"
Flora sensed Seraphina’s arrival in the Space.
It immediately manipulated a vine as if presenting a treasure.
The vine curled around a piece of rabbit meat—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and smelling absolutely divine—and eagerly offered it to Seraphina’s lips.
Its mental message carried a hint of fawning:
"Master, you’re back! It’s fresh off the grill, so delicious. Want a bite?"
Staring at the sizzling, greasy piece of meat before her, Seraphina’s stomach churned.
She remembered all too clearly how this Splitting Demon Rabbit had devoured countless humans in Kaelen.
Even though it was now food, she just couldn’t get over the mental block to take a bite.
She quickly waved her hand, suppressing her discomfort. "No, no, you guys go ahead and eat. I’m not hungry."
Seeing this, Flora didn’t insist. It retracted the vine, gulped down the roasted meat in one bite, and then, while chewing, offered a "constructive" suggestion:
"Master, then... should we raise it?"
It used a vine to point at the upside-down Splitting Demon Rabbit, which was completely devoid of any will to live.
"This way, you won’t have to work so hard to find flesh-and-blood food for us anymore. With it around, we’ll have a constant supply of fresh meat!"
Hearing Flora’s words, Seraphina’s gaze once again fell upon the pathetic Demon Rabbit.
It no longer had any trace of the terrifying, city-destroying, world-razing ferocity it had displayed outside. It was even more docile than a domestic rabbit.
To be fair, what Flora proposed was an incredibly tempting solution.
As long as they kept this Splitting Demon Rabbit captive in the Space, they would have a sustainable, regenerative, and infinite supply of "meat rabbits."
This would go a long way in solving the food problem for Flora and Ruby, who required large amounts of flesh-based Energy, as well as for her other pets.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!!"
No!!
As a monster with a certain degree of intelligence,
the Splitting Demon Rabbit had clearly understood Flora’s meaning. It began to struggle violently, its small red eyes filled with ultimate terror and despair.
It screamed frantically in its mind: ’This damned Cannibal Flower! It’s a greater Demon! A Demon!! It actually... it actually wants to raise me like a meat rabbit?! A warrior can be killed, but not humiliated!!’
Seraphina didn’t decide right away. Instead, she waved her hand. "Hold on. Before I decide what to do with it, I have some questions for this guy. Flora, can you translate for me?"
"Okay, Master!"
Flora readily agreed, then gave the Demon Rabbit a light tap with a vine, signaling it to behave.
Seraphina walked up to the restrained Splitting Demon Rabbit, took a deep breath, and activated her Skill—
[Sweet Fragrance]!
A faint pink fragrance wafted from her mouth, enveloping the Splitting Demon Rabbit.
The Demon Rabbit’s crimson eyes instantly became dazed and vacant. Its will to resist temporarily crumbled, and it fell into a controlled state.
Seraphina began to ask about the question that had been buried in her heart for a long time, her voice carrying a strange rhythm:
"Tell me, how did you become a ’Player’?"
"Squeak... squeak squeak... squeak squeak squeak..."
"I... I was originally... a rabbit waiting to be slaughtered in a rabbit-head shop in Kaelen... Then one day... I was teleported to a desolate world full of ruins and monsters... Then... then this thing called a ’System’ appeared in my head... It told me... as long as I could survive in that world... I could gain Power... and return to my original world... I hid desperately... ate desperately... and then... then I became like this..."
Flora dutifully translated the Demon Rabbit’s halting words for Seraphina.
