Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 27: Summer Lynn, Troy Lynn
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Summer Lynn, Troy Lynn
Nicholas Jensen first picked out a model sniper rifle, then selected a few toy handguns, and finally dug out several boxes of matching plastic bullets.
"It’s possible,"
he said, concentrating as his fingers gently brushed over the toys. "But this is my limit."
As a faint blue light flashed, the plastic toys began to twist and deform.
The sniper rifle’s material gradually underwent Metalization, its barrel turning cold and hard.
The handguns’ plastic shells transformed, taking on the texture of real steel.
Even the small, colorful pellets turned into gleaming brass, real bullets.
"Here," Nicholas Jensen said, wiping the sweat from his forehead. He pushed the now-real weapons toward Seraphina Sullivan. "A sniper rifle, two handguns, plus 200 rounds of ammunition. This is my absolute limit. Any larger weapons would consume so much Energy I’d pass out on the spot."
Seraphina Sullivan inspected her new weapons with satisfaction. With swift movements, she slung the sniper rifle over her back, tucked the handguns into her waistband, and put all the bullets into her backpack. The moment Nicholas couldn’t see, she transferred them into her personal Space.
Of course, Seraphina didn’t actually believe this was his limit. But since she had gotten what she wanted, she didn’t press the issue.
’After all, if we meet again, we can make another trade.’
’It’s all about sustainable development.’
"Alright, our transaction is complete." Seraphina Sullivan clapped her hands together and turned to leave. "Good luck with the days ahead."
"Hey, hey, hey—where are you going?" Nicholas Jensen quickly blocked her path, a broad smile plastered on his face.
"We’ve met, and we’re both Players. In a dangerous instance like this, we should help each other out! The instance isn’t over for a few more days. How about we team up?"
Seraphina Sullivan stopped and looked him over suspiciously. "Help each other out?"
Nicholas Jensen gave a hollow laugh, his eyes darting around.
The truth was, he had his own little scheme.
In reality, he had absolutely no ability to survive on his own.
In the real world, he was a rich young master born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
He had lived a life where everything was handed to him; he’d never even made instant noodles for himself.
After entering the Doomsday Game, if it weren’t for his Talent Ability keeping him afloat, he would have died a thousand times over.
Right now, he was so hungry his stomach felt like it was stuck to his spine. Aside from weapons, his backpack didn’t even contain a single cracker.
Seeing Seraphina Sullivan’s composed and capable demeanor, he knew she definitely had food.
He immediately made up his mind: he had to cling to this powerhouse!
’At the very least, if I stick with her, I definitely won’t starve!’
"Look," Nicholas Jensen said, rubbing his hands together and trying his best to look sincere. "My Talent can create weapons, and your combat skills are so strong. Wouldn’t we complement each other perfectly if we teamed up?"
Seraphina Sullivan saw right through him and couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
While Nicholas Jensen’s Talent was indeed powerful, she had no desire to be saddled with a dim-witted burden.
’This guy dared to bomb a nest without even investigating the monster’s weaknesses. Who knows what kind of trouble he’ll stir up next?’
What was that saying? You don’t fear an opponent who is like a god; you fear a teammate who is like a pig.
Nicholas Jensen, the pig. Seraphina immediately wrote him off.
Of course, there was another reason: Seraphina was still wary of Nicholas Jensen.
"No thanks." Seraphina Sullivan waved her hand dismissively. "I’m used to working alone. I don’t want to team up."
With that, she strode away without a backward glance, her figure disappearing with clean, decisive steps.
Nicholas Jensen stood there, a look of disappointment on his face.
"Looks like I’ll have to fend for myself!"
「...」
After getting the weapons from the trade, Seraphina Sullivan resumed her supply-hoarding plan.
But Seraphina discovered that something had changed in Eldoria Town. Perhaps due to the successive explosions and the military’s bombing run, the once-quiet daytime streets of Eldoria Town now had people moving about again.
Seraphina was at a gas station, placing a drum of gasoline she had found into her Space, when the deafening roar of an engine suddenly hit her ears.
She snapped her head up just in time to see two SUVs hurtling toward the gas station at an astonishing speed. The screech of their tires against the pavement was piercing in the empty street.
"People!" Seraphina quickly ducked behind a gas pump.
Her gaze fixed on the two pursuing SUVs.
In the lead vehicle, a girl with a high ponytail was leaning most of her body out of the window. She pushed her hands forward—BOOM!
A visible vortex of air erupted, sending the vehicle behind them swerving wildly.
A nearby trash can was sucked into the air and hurled toward the pursuing vehicle.
’A Player?’
Seeing the girl’s Ability.
Seraphina’s pupils contracted. She immediately activated her [Eye of Resume]:
[Name: Summer Lynn]
[Gender: Female]
[Professional Skills: Talent·Wind Speaker (Control Airflow)]
[Weaknesses: Afraid of bugs]
However, Summer Lynn’s attack didn’t seem to affect the vehicle behind them much.
The pursuing vehicle’s sunroof suddenly slid open, and they began to counter-attack.
Three heavily armed, burly men set up a machine gun and opened fire wildly.
Bullets sparked across the gas station’s concrete pillar, less than two meters from where Seraphina was hiding.
’Military?’ Seraphina noticed the insignia on their vehicle; it was the same one she had seen on the helicopter earlier.
But what surprised her even more was that these military personnel were fully equipped, wearing what looked like biohazard suits.
The chase continued.
Summer Lynn’s vehicle suddenly screeched to a halt, fishtailing. A boy wearing glasses jumped out of the passenger seat.
He pressed his hands to the ground, and the asphalt surface instantly softened into a quagmire. The pursuing vehicle’s tires sank half a meter deep.
Seraphina turned her attention to the boy.
[Name: Troy Lynn]
[Gender: Male
[Professional Skills: Talent·Softening: Softens any object upon contact.]
[Weaknesses: Afraid of pain]
’Summer Lynn, Troy Lynn? Are they brother and sister?’ The thought had barely crossed Seraphina’s mind when she heard a deafening explosion.
BOOM!
A rocket slammed into Summer Lynn’s SUV with perfect accuracy. The massive shock wave flipped the entire vehicle over.
The siblings were thrown by the blast wave, landing hard on the pavement more than ten meters away, completely immobile.
’Danger!’ Seraphina pulled a handgun and the Sound Wave Vibration Gun from her Space.
She watched as the heavily armed people got out of their vehicle one by one.
They wore special protective suits and carried standard-issue weapons, spreading out with practiced movements to form an encirclement.
But what shocked and horrified Seraphina most was the last person to get out.
The person was holding a leash, and at the end of it was a Parasitic Hound!
The monster was the size of a calf. Its fur was gone, its skin deathly pale, and corrosive slime dripped from between its fangs. Yet, a sophisticated electronic collar was fastened around its neck.
Seraphina didn’t understand. It was daytime, so why wasn’t this parasitic variant afraid of the sunlight?
Seraphina then used her Eye of Resume to inspect the parasitic variant.
[Name: Parasitic Variant - White Ghost]
[Gender: Male]
[Professional Skills: Carnivorous, Body Enhancement, Body Modification - Unafraid of sunlight]
[Weaknesses: Afraid of water!]
After reading the information, Seraphina realized that this parasitic variant’s weakness—being afraid of ultraviolet radiation (sunlight)—was gone.
’This is a modified parasitic variant!’ Seraphina thought, shocked.
The next moment, Seraphina overheard them talking.
"These are some fine specimens."
