Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Sneak Attack? Sniper Rifle

Day four of the Parasite Apocalypse.

As dawn broke, Seraphina Sullivan quickly got up and hurried toward the building where Nicholas Jensen was hiding.

’Based on the dosage of the Universal Syringe, the [Pain Paralysis] Effect should have worn off by now. That guy should be awake.’

Seraphina muttered to herself as she walked briskly, ’I hope he keeps his promise and hands over the weapons obediently... Otherwise...’

The corners of Seraphina’s mouth lifted into a dangerous, wicked smile. ℴ

However, when she reached her destination, she found the entire building eerily quiet.

There was no sign of Nicholas Jensen, only the mournful sound of wind whistling through broken windows.

’Something’s not right...’ Seraphina stopped in her tracks, her eyes scanning her surroundings alertly.

She immediately took the Sound Wave Vibration Gun from her Space and activated the [Sound Wave Detection] function.

An invisible sound wave spread out, and the information that returned a moment later made her eyes narrow.

Around the corner on the path she had to take, a red dot lay in ambush, completely immobile.

"..." Seraphina narrowed her eyes. ’Is Nicholas Jensen planning to ambush me?’

Before, she might have been nervous. But now, with the physique bonus from [Speed Enhancement], her reaction time and movement speed were far beyond that of an ordinary person.

Faced with a known ambush, she wasn’t the least bit flustered.

’Heh, you want to play?’ she sneered inwardly, but her expression remained impassive. She continued to walk forward slowly, pretending to be completely oblivious.

Her footsteps echoed in the empty building. She deliberately walked casually, even humming a little tune, as if she truly had no defenses up.

But her finger was already quietly wrapped around the trigger of the Sound Wave Vibration Gun, and a Silver Needle was forming at the fingertips of her other hand, ready to deal with any sudden developments.

One step, two steps...

The moment she reached the corner, a black shadow suddenly lunged out!

BANG—!

The shock wave from the Sound Wave Vibration Gun erupted instantly, distorting the air and shaking dust from the walls.

However, the expected Nicholas Jensen didn’t appear. In his place was a parasitic variant that had been sent flying.

It was a feral cat infected by a blood parasite, its deformed body tumbling through the air before slamming heavily against the wall.

Seraphina was stunned. "...It’s not Nicholas Jensen?"

"Of course not." A lazy voice drifted down from the top of the building.

Seraphina snapped her head up and saw Nicholas Jensen sitting leisurely on the rooftop railing, fiddling with a toy gun model. A punchable grin was plastered on his face. "I wasn’t planning on ambushing you. I just woke up and saw this thing sneakily trying to set a trap for you, so..."

He waved the toy gun in his hand, and in the blink of an eye, the model transformed into a real Desert Eagle. He fired two shots at the parasitic variant as it tried to get up.

BANG! BANG!

"Just helping you take care of it."

Seraphina raised an eyebrow. She wondered how this guy had managed to evade her Sound Wave Vibration Gun’s detection.

’Thinking about his Ability, perhaps he materialized some kind of toy that blocks detection.’

She slowly raised the muzzle of the Sound Wave Gun and aimed it at him. "Oh? So you were being considerate?"

Nicholas Jensen immediately threw his hands up, grinning. "Hey, don’t get excited. I really don’t want to be paralyzed for another day. I’m a man of my word. I’ll uphold my end of our deal."

"But first, you have to provide the toys."

Seraphina snorted coldly, but a flash of satisfaction appeared in her eyes. "Good. You know what’s good for you."

Nicholas Jensen leaped lightly from the second floor, landing steadily in front of Seraphina. He held out his hand with a brilliant smile. "Let’s have a proper introduction. I’m Nicholas Jensen!"

Seraphina didn’t respond to his introduction.

Instead, her gaze fell involuntarily on his thigh, which had been a bloody mess just yesterday.

But looking at it now, only a faint scar remained.

She couldn’t help but be amazed. ’The [Wound Recovery] physique Effect is just too overpowered. Such a serious injury actually healed overnight.’

"Is the [Wound Recovery] physique really that powerful?" she couldn’t help but ask.

Nicholas Jensen’s eyebrow shot up, a playful smile on his face. "Oh? Looks like you completed Mission Two as well?" He took a step closer and asked curiously, "What kind of physique did you get?"

Seraphina pressed her lips together and didn’t answer. She wouldn’t just reveal her Abilities to anyone. Who knew if this guy was good or bad? If it weren’t for getting what she wanted from the trade, Seraphina wouldn’t have bothered with him at all.

Seeing that she wasn’t talking, Nicholas Jensen shrugged and wisely didn’t press the issue.

But then he started complaining indignantly, "This isn’t fair! How come I almost died blowing up a monster nest, while you look completely unscathed?"

Hearing this, Seraphina stared at him as if he were an idiot. "You... don’t you know about these monsters’ Weaknesses?"

"Weaknesses?" Nicholas Jensen blinked in confusion. "These things have Weaknesses?"

Seraphina: "..."

She finally understood why this moron had gone to blow up a Parasite Nest at night.

Apparently, the guy had no idea that the monsters were most dangerous at night!

"You..." Seraphina took a deep breath, fighting the urge to punch him. "Did it not occur to you to gather some intel before taking action?"

"And did you not notice that these monsters don’t dare to appear in places exposed to sunlight during the day?"

Nicholas Jensen: ??

"Ah! I just thought the monsters only came out at night and rested during the day!"

Seraphina: ’I give up!’

Nicholas Jensen scratched his head, then said defensively, "Even if it was at night, I figured I could just blow it up and be done with it. Who knew such a huge mother bug would pop out..."

As he spoke, he touched his thigh, a lingering fear in his eyes.

Seraphina face-palmed. She suddenly felt like she had rescued an idiot.

’But on second thought,’ she mused, ’he might be reckless, but his Talent is actually quite useful...’

"Forget it." She waved her hand. "Since your injury is healed, it’s time to make the weapons I want, as we agreed."

Then, she unceremoniously dropped a backpack full of toys on the ground with a CLATTER.

He picked up the backpack with one hand to test its weight and couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

"Hey, do you think I’m a munitions factory? That I can just mass-produce these things?"

As he spoke, he pulled a model tank out of the bag, then a plastic cannon.

Finally, he held up a Gundam figure in disbelief.

Nicholas Jensen: ??

"What is all this stuff? You even have a Gundam! Do you think I’m some kind of Creator God? That I can turn anything into the real deal?"

Seraphina blinked. "You can’t?"

"Of course I can’t!" Nicholas Jensen was so mad he was practically hopping. "If I could just turn anything I wanted into reality, I would’ve been cruising around in a Gundam sweeping this whole instance clean by now! Would I have needed to run for my life from that mother bug?"

Seraphina nodded thoughtfully.

He had a point.

Of course, she knew that every Player’s Talent had its limits; she had just been deliberately testing him.

"Then can you turn these into real things?" Seraphina asked, pointing to the relatively "normal" weapon toys in the backpack.

Nicholas Jensen sighed, squatting down to rummage through the bag.

He first picked out a model sniper rifle, then selected a few toy handguns, and finally pulled out several boxes of matching plastic bullets.
