Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 199: Special Dungeon Card, Growth Card, Purple Gemstone Necklace
Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Special Dungeon Card, Growth Card, Purple Gemstone Necklace
The RV struggled on its way toward the safe zone.
Sitting inside the vehicle, Seraphina Sullivan finally had time to carefully examine the three items Sean Chandler had looted from Neil Webb.
They were two cards made of a special material, shimmering with a faint light.
And a necklace inlaid with a deep purple gemstone.
Seraphina picked them up and used [Item Identification] on each one in turn.
[Lv1 Special Dungeon Card]
[Effect: Upon use, you can open a one-time portal to a Level 1 special Doomsday Game world for an additional survival trial. Completing the trial grants corresponding rewards. (Note: This card is a special entry ticket and does not count toward the regular dungeon cooldown timer.)]
[Growth Card]
[Effect: Can be used on a designated animal or plant target, causing it to instantly bypass its growth cycle and reach full maturity. (Note: The effect on special monsters and certain special entities is unknown or diminished.)]
[Purple Gemstone Necklace]
[Effect: Spirit Protection: The necklace contains a special energy that can be triggered actively or passively. It can negate three Spirit Attacks for the wearer, provided they are within a certain intensity threshold. This includes, but is not limited to, Mind Control, Illusions, and psychic shocks. After three uses, the necklace will shatter.]
The details of the three items appeared clearly in Seraphina’s mind, and she was quite surprised by what she found.
’These three items... they’re quite something.’
Her gaze first fell upon the [Lv1 Special Dungeon Card].
’Besides the mandatory survival dungeon every seven days, there are actually dungeon cards that let you enter one whenever you want?’
This immediately made Seraphina think of the mysterious Level 3 Player she had encountered in The Insect Frenzy dungeon.
’It seems that person must have used a similar item to enter a lower-level dungeon.’
However, Seraphina was also aware that using this kind of Special Dungeon Card to enter a dungeon below one’s own Level carried a huge potential risk.
You absolutely could not reveal your identity as an Advanced Player, or you would face severe punishment from the system, resulting in a miserable end.
At this thought, she subconsciously touched the [Transformation Ring] on her finger.
Seraphina hadn’t forgotten how she had obtained this ring.
She had been rewarded by the system for discovering and reporting the rule-breaker.
The system had randomly taken an item from that person, which was how she had received this practical ring that could alter her appearance and aura.
’This [Lv1 Special Dungeon Card]... I might be able to use it later. With my current strength, as long as I’m careful not to expose myself, the benefits of entering a Level 1 dungeon should outweigh the risks.’
Seraphina thought that once she was settled in the safe zone, she could try using this card.
Her gaze then shifted to the other two items.
’A [Growth Card]... to instantly mature animals and plants?’
’This is practically tailor-made for my [Scavenger’s Farm]! It’s so useful, whether for accelerating crop harvests or quickly cultivating special plants like the Fiery Sunflower!’
Yes, Seraphina had already decided to use this Growth Card on the Fiery Sunflower.
’The [Purple Gemstone Necklace] can negate three Spirit Attacks, making it a very practical life-saving item. Abilities of the spirit type are notoriously hard to defend against, so having this makes me feel much safer.’
Although Seraphina really wanted to acquire a Skill that could defend against Spirit Attacks,
it seemed very difficult for a Worker to awaken a Profession with such abilities.
Now that she had this Purple Gemstone Necklace, Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief.
Neil Webb had been quite the jackpot; the quality of the items she got from him was quite high, leaving Seraphina very satisfied.
She carefully put the three items away.
The Special Dungeon Card and the Growth Card, in particular, were mentally tagged by Seraphina as "strategic reserves."
The RV pushed on with difficulty through the raging blizzard.
The thick snow severely hampered their speed.
The wheels periodically sank into snowdrifts, and a few times Sean Chandler even had to get out and use the immense strength of his Werewolf Form to push the vehicle out or clear obstacles from their path.
The closer they got to Vorlag City’s Safe Zone No. 1, the more vehicles and pedestrians they encountered on the road.
Apparently, the official announcement had spread, and large numbers of citizens struggling to survive the severe cold were trying by any means possible to converge on the Land of Hope.
Through the frost-covered window, Seraphina saw all sorts of evacuees.
There were entire families, young and old, crammed into dilapidated small cars, their bodies covered in thick ice and snow, looking as if they could stall out at any moment.
Some had fashioned crude sleds from simple wooden planks and ropes, dragging their meager belongings as they trudged step by step through knee-deep snow, their figures small yet tenacious.
Even more people were simply wrapped in thick clothes, advancing on foot against the cold wind, every step filled with hardship.
In comparison, Seraphina’s RV stood out conspicuously in the migrating convoy.
It soon attracted countless gazes of envy, longing, and even a hint of jealousy.
From time to time, people would rush into the middle of the road and pound on the vehicle’s windows, their voices muffled and desperate amidst the howling wind and snow:
"Friends! You’re heading to the safe zone too, right? Please, have a heart, take us with you!"
"We’re begging you, just a place to sit is all we ask! We can pay, we have food!"
Faced with these pleas, Seraphina remained expressionless, merely signaling for Sean Chandler to drive carefully, avoid the people blocking the road, and offered no response.
She knew all too well that in a doomsday environment, excessive kindness could sometimes lead to unnecessary trouble.
After a number of setbacks, the massive structure known as "Vorlag Safe Zone No. 1" finally appeared at the edge of their vision.
It was a gigantic, circular structure, shaped like an overturned bowl or, one might say, a turtle shell.
It looked like it had been converted from a large stadium.
Its exterior was covered in a thick, reinforced layer that glinted with a metallic sheen, a clear sign of large-scale engineering fortifications.
Even through the swirling snow, Seraphina could vaguely make out the figures of workers on top of the building.
They were braving the severe cold, frantically welding and installing additional defensive structures or equipment.
The sparks from the welding were especially dazzling against the gray-white sky.
As they neared the safe zone’s entrance, other vehicles came into view.
Among them were plenty of modified off-road vehicles and trucks.
There were even a few RVs similar to Seraphina’s.
The appearance of these vehicles made Seraphina’s RV seem less out of place.
The line moved slowly forward, and at last, it was their turn.
A checkpoint had been set up at the entrance, guarded by several soldiers in thick, winter combat uniforms, all armed to the teeth.
Their expressions were solemn and their gazes sharp as they maintained order while remaining vigilant for any potential threats.
"Please exit the vehicle for inspection! All personnel must be registered and undergo a basic screening!"
A soldier who looked like an officer knocked on the window, his voice carrying through the wind and snow.
Seraphina and Sean Chandler exchanged a glance, opened the door, and stepped out to face the heavily armed officials.
