Chapter 198: Annihilation of the Peerless Guild, Heading to Vorlag Safe Zone No. 1
Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Annihilation of the Peerless Guild, Heading to Vorlag Safe Zone No. 1
Everyone stared at the headless corpse on the sofa, their faces etched with disbelief.
Of course, at that very moment, terror gripped them all.
It was as if Keith Griffith had just realized something.
His gaze snapped to Seraphina Sullivan, his voice cracking.
"You... you’re a Player?! You were acting this whole time?!"
At Keith Griffith’s question, the timid, panicked expression on Seraphina Sullivan’s face melted away like thawing ice, replaced by cold indifference.
"It’s time for this boring little play to end."
She completely ignored Keith Griffith’s pointless question, not even deigning to spare him a glance.
She merely tilted her head slightly, addressing Sean Chandler—who stood like a god of slaughter beside Neil Webb’s corpse—and issued her final command:
"Finish them all. Leave none alive."
Sean Chandler didn’t hesitate for a second, nor did he make a sound.
The instant Seraphina’s words left her lips, he was moving again!
Like a tiger pouncing on a flock of sheep, he lunged at the members of The Peerless Guild—still reeling from shock and terror—with overwhelming Power and speed!
"No! Don’t kill me!"
"I surrender! I quit The Peerless Guild!"
"Spare me!"
But Seraphina paid no mind to their pleas for mercy.
In an instant, a cacophony of screams, pleas, and the sickening crunch of breaking bones filled the air.
The others viciously tried to fight back, hastily activating their Abilities.
Some brandished their weapons.
But having lost their strongest fighter, Neil Webb, they were no match for Sean Chandler, who was now holding nothing back!
Their resistance was futile, easily crushed by Sean Chandler.
Seraphina watched it all unfold, her expression unwavering, devoid of even a hint of pity.
While Sean Chandler was cleaning up the minions...
she quickly inspected the rest of the market.
In a dark warehouse at the back, Seraphina saw something that made her seethe with rage.
Four or five women’s bodies had been carelessly tossed into a corner.
They were long dead, their bodies covered in signs of horrific abuse. The sight of their wretched deaths was shocking.
Recalling the skinny man’s earlier mention of "perks during the storm..."
...and Neil Webb’s listed Weakness of being "extremely lecherous," Seraphina instantly understood the inhuman torture these poor women had endured.
’This scum deserved worse than death!’
Watching their comrades fall one by one, Keith Griffith and Gene Morton were scared witless.
They dropped to their knees and begged for their lives:
"Miss Sullivan! Mr. Chandler! Spare our lives! We were wrong! We were forced to do it!"
"Please, let us go! We’ll be your slaves! We’ll give you all of our supplies!"
Seraphina, however, simply turned away coldly, not even deigning to spare them a glance.
’Tolerating evil is a cruelty to the good.’
These men, who had participated in—and even enjoyed—the atrocities, deserved no mercy.
Soon, a deathly silence fell over the market once more.
Only the thick stench of blood and the crackle of burning Flames remained.
Besides Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler, the only person left in the field was Todd Olsen, standing rooted to the spot with a vacant look in his eyes.
The "useful tool" who, under the Control of Sweet Fragrance, had played such a crucial role.
Seraphina looked at Todd Olsen with a hint of regret.
’The Binding Talent is incredibly useful. Whether for controlling a powerful foe or setting up a kill, it has a decisive Effect.’
’Unfortunately, the Stealing Master Agreement only lets me learn Abilities from my own awakened Profession; I can’t acquire someone else’s Talent. I wonder if my Worker Talent will be able to steal the Talents of others after it levels up?’
Seraphina shook her head.
Now she faced a choice: should she keep Todd Olsen, or eliminate him?
’Keeping him would mean gaining an ally with a powerful Control Skill.’
’But the problem was, how would I explain his presence to others?’
’Am I supposed to announce, "This is my new boyfriend"?’
"..."
Even Seraphina thought the idea was ridiculous.
’Even though it’s the apocalypse and society has collapsed, a relationship that ’open’ would still attract unwanted attention and trouble. Besides, the Control from Sweet Fragrance isn’t permanent. Once it wears off, there’s no guarantee he won’t turn on me.’
’The risks outweigh the benefits.’
After a brief moment of deliberation, a flicker of resolve appeared in Seraphina’s eyes.
She walked up to Todd Olsen. As he stared at her with the same vacant expression, she gave a slight wave of her hand.
Sean Chandler understood instantly. A swift chop of his hand...
...and Todd Olsen crumpled to the ground. His face was still frozen in the dazed expression he’d had while under Control, but all life had vanished.
’A shame... but it was the safest choice.’
Looking at the carnage and the corpses littering the market, Seraphina focused her thoughts and summoned Flora the Carnivorous Plant.
"Flora, go clean up all this ’trash,’" Seraphina said, gesturing to the corpses on the floor.
"Yes, Master! Leave it to me!" Flora waved its vines.
The enormous head of the Cannibal Flower snapped open and shut with excitement.
To the plant, this was a rare feast.
It immediately got to ’work’.
Thick vines wrapped around corpse after corpse, skillfully stuffing them into a giant maw filled with Sharp Teeth. A sickening, grinding crunch echoed through the market.
Meanwhile, Sean Chandler had finished searching the bodies.
He had recovered several faintly glowing items from the bodies of Neil Webb and a few others who looked like minor leaders. Three of the items came from Neil Webb alone.
He handed them to Seraphina.
Seraphina took them and, without a closer look, stored them directly in her Space.
’This wasn’t the time to inspect her loot.’
She glanced around the site of the recent bloodbath.
’She had originally just planned to find an excuse to pull the RV out of her Space.’
’But through a strange twist of fate, she’d ended up wiping out an entire gang of villainous Players.’
’Still, this was a good outcome. A public service, in a way.’
Done hesitating, Seraphina walked to a relatively open area in the center of the market and focused her mind.
The next moment, a large RV materialized out of thin air in the clearing!
This was the mobile Shelter she had prepared long ago but had never found the right opportunity to reveal.
Meanwhile, Flora was working with incredible efficiency. Its massive vines, like the most effective cleaning crew, had not only devoured all the corpses...
...but had also cleaned up most of the bloodstains on the ground.
The market was still in ruins, but the nauseating stench of blood and the gruesome evidence of the massacre were almost entirely gone.
Seraphina opened the market doors, letting the blizzard winds sweep inside. Before long, the snow and ice would erase any traces she had left behind.
"Let’s go," Seraphina said, opening the driver’s side door of the RV and motioning to Sean Chandler. "We’re going straight to Vorlag City’s Safe Zone Number One."
Sean Chandler gave a silent nod and got into the driver’s seat.
The engine rumbled to life. The massive RV rolled over the market’s dusty floor, plowed through the raging blizzard, and headed toward the official safe zone.
