Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Heart of the Nest’s Submission, Philip Jensen’s Notification

Seraphina Sullivan hadn’t expected her spur-of-the-moment idea to have such a remarkable Effect.

She had been worrying about how to find a stable and efficient Energy source for the [Fiery Sunflower].

She had no way of obtaining combustible materials like coal right now.

She never thought Tubbs’s mutation would perfectly solve her current problem!

Seraphina Sullivan patted Tubbs’s little head and said with a smile, "Tubbs, from now on, your job on the farm is to provide Flame for this Fiery Sunflower! It needs fire to grow, and you happen to produce fire. It’s a match made in heaven!"

Tubbs felt a sense of relief as the uncontrollable flames on its body were drawn away.

It also felt a fondness for the Sunflower and immediately chirped its obedient agreement: "Bawk bawk! Understood, Master! Tubbs guarantees the mission will be completed!"

Seraphina Sullivan nodded in satisfaction.

She placed the [Fiery Sunflower], which had clearly grown a size larger, back next to Chubbs and Tubbs’s coop, making it convenient for them to "collaborate."

Just as she was about to turn and leave, the corner of her eye caught sight of an inconspicuous object in the corner of the chicken coop, disguised as a red stone necklace.

"Hm? What’s that..."

The moment Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze swept over it.

The Heart of the Nest, which had been trying its best to reduce its presence, screamed frantically in its mind:

’She can’t see me! She can’t see me! She definitely can’t see me! I’m just a necklace, an ordinary, unremarkable stone!’

However, things didn’t go as it wished.

Seraphina Sullivan bent down and casually picked up the [Heart of the Nest]—the very one she had taken from Hunter Lowe and had since tossed into a corner of the farm, almost forgetting about it, disguised as a red pendant.

Her fingertips touched its cold, slick surface.

The Heart of the Nest trembled slightly in Seraphina Sullivan’s hand.

"I had almost forgotten about you," Seraphina Sullivan said, pinching the cool stone pendant necklace between her fingers.

Her tone was flat, yet it carried an undeniable sense of pressure.

"Your Ability is important too. Stop pretending, little one. If you behave and serve me, I might consider sparing your life. But if you don’t..."

Seraphina Sullivan didn’t finish her sentence, but the threat was self-evident.

As if to confirm her words, several figures silently closed in.

Sean Chandler stood by her side like an iron tower, his eyes cold.

Flora brandished its thorny vines, its giant flower bud opening to reveal rows of densely packed Sharp Teeth that glinted coldly and made a teeth-grinding scraping sound.

Moe floated nearby, its round face wearing an eerie smile that completely contradicted its cute appearance.

A ghastly green light of Petrification flickered in and out of sight within its large eyes.

Even Chubbs, with its newly evolved steel feathers, and Tubbs, still wreathed in a faint glow of fire, turned their heads. Their no-longer-ordinary eyes, filled with a scrutinizing and dangerous Aura, locked firmly onto the small stone pendant.

Surrounded by so many terrifying beings, the Heart of the Nest trembled with fear.

It immediately dropped its Disguise and transformed into a red spider.

It instantly sent out a mental wave so strong it was almost a plea:

"I’ll obey! Of course I’ll obey! I’ll absolutely obey! If you tell me to go east, I’ll never go west! If you tell me to hatch eggs, I’ll never chase chickens!"

Seraphina Sullivan was noncommittal about the Heart of the Nest’s "pledge of loyalty."

She knew very well that she couldn’t completely trust this spoil of war from Hunter Lowe.

The Heart of the Nest wasn’t like Flora, bound by a contract of absolute loyalty via a system-issued [Pet Card].

Nor was it like Moe, a partner directly awarded by the system and soul-bound to her.

It was even less like Chubbs and Tubbs, whom she had raised long-term, "tamed" in a sense, and who followed her willingly.

The Heart of the Nest was more like a double-edged sword: its Ability was powerful and its potential unknown, but its loyalty was practically zero.

Its current submission was built entirely on her military deterrence and its fear for its own survival.

If she lost Control of it and it found an opportunity to escape or even turn on her...

...given its Ability to hatch and manipulate The Swarm, the consequences would be catastrophic.

Seraphina Sullivan would never allow her own negligence to cause an uncontrollable Swarm disaster in the real world of Azure Star.

’Until I get a [Pet Card] or some other way to gain absolute Control over the Heart of the Nest, it needs to stay put in the farm Space. I absolutely cannot bring it into the outside world.’

Seraphina Sullivan made up her mind.

She looked at the trembling red spider in her hand, her tone softening slightly.

But it still carried a warning: "Remember what you said. Now, continue your Disguise. Don’t make any sudden moves without my command, understand?"

The Heart of the Nest immediately sent back a crystal-clear thought of submission: "Understood! Absolute obedience!"

Only then did Seraphina Sullivan put it aside again, but not before secretly instructing Flora and Moe to keep a close watch on their restless new neighbor.

This would ensure that this dangerous weapon remained under absolute supervision until she could truly control it.

Although Sweet Fragrance could also control the Heart of the Nest, Seraphina Sullivan couldn’t keep it up forever.

Seraphina Sullivan enjoyed a satisfying feast on the Scavenger’s Farm, cooked with fresh ingredients.

The steaming hot food effectively dispelled the fatigue and chill she had accumulated in the Dark Apocalypse Dungeon.

Back in reality, a blizzard still raged outside her window.

Seraphina Sullivan collected clean snow in a container, used the steady Flame provided by Tubbs to heat it, and took a long, comfortable hot bath, washing away all the grime and exhaustion from her journey.

The night passed without incident. Sheltered by the warm Aura of the farm and the small stove in her room, Seraphina Sullivan had a rare, peaceful night’s sleep.

The next morning, she was awakened by a rhythmic knocking at the door.

Seraphina Sullivan hadn’t stayed on the farm the whole time.

Thanks to Tubbs continuously providing Flame Energy to the Fiery Sunflower, the Sunflower was thriving, and the heat it emitted was enough to keep the entire cabin at a relatively comfortable temperature.

She had moved the quaint little stove she’d gotten from the Fireseed Shelter into the center of the living room.

She added firewood, and the stove crackled to life. It not only provided warmth, but she also roasted a few potatoes harvested from the farm by its side, their fragrance filling the air.

Hearing the knock, she signaled for Sean Chandler to answer it.

Sean Chandler opened the door, only to find an unexpected person standing outside.

It was Philip Jensen, a member of the officials.

Philip Jensen was clearly going door-to-door making an announcement.

He had just finished knocking on the neighbor’s door. Seeing that Seraphina Sullivan’s door had opened, he immediately turned around and spoke, his words clear and rapid, obviously not intending to linger for a conversation.

"Official notice: Vorlag City Safe Zone One has completed its initial construction. The zone can provide a relatively safe living environment and basic survival guarantees! If your home cannot withstand the severe cold, or if you lack supplies and are finding it difficult to survive, you may proceed to the safe zone to seek shelter when the snowfall lessens! The address is..."

His voice was fast, but his tone carried a reassuring firmness.

Hearing Philip Jensen’s voice, Seraphina Sullivan also walked to the door.
