Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 177: Night Tide Ends, Mission Complete
Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Night Tide Ends, Mission Complete
At the center of the Wall, Seraphina Sullivan’s song continued, its ethereal melody washing over the defenders like a warm tide, constantly soothing their weary souls and dispelling their fear.
But from the continuous use of her Singing Ability, Seraphina’s face was gradually growing pale.
Fine beads of sweat dotted her forehead.
Maintaining both her [Singing] Skill and her telepathic communication with Moe was a massive drain on her spiritual power.
The Spirit Recovery Potions she and Sean Chandler had stockpiled were completely gone.
Just then, a small hand offered a potion glowing with a faint purple light to her.
Seraphina turned her head and saw that Coco Sullivan had come to her side at some point.
The little girl’s face was smeared with sweat and blood, but her eyes were filled with gratitude and determination.
"Here, this is my Spirit Recovery Potion."
Coco Sullivan’s voice was crisp. "Thank you for saving my brother just now!"
Seraphina stared at the potion, slightly stunned.
In this apocalyptic environment where resources were precious, the value of a potion that could save a life at a critical moment was self-evident.
Seraphina didn’t stand on ceremony and refuse. At this moment, she truly was in desperate need of replenishing her spiritual power.
She took the potion and nodded at Coco. The two exchanged a smile, everything understood without a word.
This trust and camaraderie, forged on a battlefield of life and death, was more precious than any words.
Uncorking the bottle, she drank the potion in one gulp. A cool stream of Energy surged into her mind, smoothing away the stinging pain and exhaustion of her spirit.
Seraphina took a deep breath. Her voice became clearer and more powerful, like the sounding of a horn for an all-out assault, leading everyone in a final charge toward victory!
The other Players around her also keenly sensed that Seraphina’s battle-turning song came at the cost of rapidly consuming her own spiritual power.
At this moment, protecting the Shelter and completing the mission had become the common goal of all Players.
Driven by this common interest, an unspoken understanding flowed between the Players.
"Catch!"
"Take mine, too!"
"Don’t stop singing! We’re counting on you!"
In that instant, the Players made their choice. Spirit Recovery Potions were passed to Seraphina from all directions, some even thrust directly into her hands.
These potions might have been their last-resort lifesaving supplies, but at this moment, no one was stingy.
Seraphina stared at the potions being offered to her, slightly taken aback.
She didn’t offer any false refusals. Instead, she nodded heavily and said, "Thank you!"
She quickly took the potions, downing them one after another.
The cool Energy continuously replenished her nearly depleted spiritual power.
This allowed her crucial song to keep echoing over the battlefield, continuing to disrupt the minds of the monster army and bolster the morale of the defenders.
This was the first time Seraphina had so clearly felt just how powerful the collaborative energy could be when Players cast aside their suspicions for a clear, common goal.
Perhaps the motive began with self-interest, but the act of extending a helping hand without hesitation at a life-or-death moment still filled Seraphina’s heart with a trace of warmth.
An individual’s Power is finite, but the combined Power of many can create miracles!
The song never stopped, and above the Wall, the deadly green light shooting from the eyes of the Petrifying Legion led by Moe remained as dense as rain.
The tide of battle, through everyone’s combined efforts, had been completely turned!
The two Night Behemoths, severely weakened and slowed by Petrification and the song, could no longer withstand the joint assault from Dustin Sullivan and Julian Shaw, who had recovered some of their strength.
Under the pair’s precise and frenzied blows, the behemoths let out unwilling wails one after the other before their massive bodies crashed to the ground, becoming two giant "stone mountains" on the battlefield!
Drake Hayes’s tightly clenched fist finally relaxed. He excitedly raised his weapon and shouted to all the defenders with all his might:
"Warriors, the Night Behemoths are dead! Victory is ours! Hold on, clean up these remaining monsters, and we will successfully defend the Fireseed Shelter and survive this night tide!"
"ROAR—!"
A deafening cheer erupted from atop the Wall!
The atmosphere of despair was swept away, replaced by soaring morale and the conviction of certain victory!
As time went on, the night monsters, having lost the leadership of the behemoths and the support of the tide’s core power, found their assault noticeably weakening. They were no longer the endless horde they had been at the start.
The roars of the monsters were gradually overwhelmed by the battle cries of the defenders.
When monsters stopped their suicidal charges from the depths of the eternal darkness on the horizon, the deafening battlefield finally began to quiet down.
The night tide!
It was over!
The moment she confirmed the last monster was eliminated, Seraphina felt as if all the strength had been instantly drained from her body. The nerves that had been stretched taut suddenly went slack.
The song came to an abrupt halt.
Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the ground, coughing violently. Her throat felt like it was on fire, hoarse and excruciatingly painful, as if her own voice no longer belonged to her.
[Ding! Mission Complete!]
[Congratulations to the Player for completing Main Mission II: Ensure the Fireseed Shelter is not destroyed in the dark tide.]
[Mission Reward: One Talent upgrade opportunity.]
Only when the cold system notification echoed clearly in her mind did the tightly wound string in Seraphina’s heart truly and completely loosen.
This sound, like music from the heavens, announced that the brutal battle, which had lasted for who knows how long, had finally drawn to a close. It also meant that the suffocating dark tide had truly receded.
"It’s... finally... over..."
With a voice so hoarse it was almost gone, she managed to force out those few words, her entire body feeling as boneless as a rag doll.
She went completely limp on the cold ground, unwilling to even lift a finger.
Seraphina gazed up at the sky above the Shelter, which was still shrouded in eternal darkness. But now, this darkness no longer brought oppression and despair, but rather a sense of peace that came with having survived a calamity.
With immense exhaustion, she let out a turbid breath that had been stuck in her chest.
Immediately after, another system prompt sounded:
[Ding! A Talent upgrade opportunity has been detected for the Player. Would you like to upgrade your Talent now?]
Without a second thought, Seraphina mentally replied, ’No.’
’Are you kidding me? My spiritual power is overdrawn, my body is weak to the extreme, and I feel like I’m about to fall apart.’
’Undergo a crucial Talent upgrade in this condition?’
’Who knows what might happen during the upgrade process. What if it requires concentration or I have to withstand some kind of impact? In my current state, that’s just asking to die.’
[Ding! The Player’s choice has been recorded. The Player may initiate the Talent upgrade at any time through the system interface after preparing.]
Hearing the system’s response, Seraphina finally relaxed completely.
’Good, at least the reward doesn’t expire.’
