Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Flying, the Giant Sword Descends

Dustin Sullivan and Julian Shaw exchanged a look. Though their eyes still held a sense of competition and wariness, they unhesitatingly joined forces for their common goal.

"Don’t worry, we understand the stakes," Dustin Sullivan said gravely.

"That’s right. If this big guy tears down our Shelter, things will end badly for everyone." Julian Shaw also set aside his usual cynical demeanor, a cold glint flashing in his single eye.

They were both desperate for the precious opportunity to upgrade their Talents.

And to achieve that goal, defending the Shelter was their only option.

At that moment, personal grievances were temporarily set aside. Confronting the common threat became the primary mission.

The moment Drake Hayes finished speaking, he acted without hesitation.

With a low shout, the strangely shaped Curved Saber in his hand suddenly glowed faintly. He then swung it through the air, aiming at the distant Night Behemoth holding a Stone Axe!

SHHIIING—!

An invisible blade, almost impossible to track with the naked eye, distorted the air as it instantly formed. With a piercing whistle, it shot forward, slashing toward the behemoth’s pillar-like calf!

This was his Genetic Ability—[Invisible Blade]!

Meanwhile, Coco Sullivan asked Dustin Sullivan anxiously, "Brother, what should we do?!" She was maintaining the Flame Barrier, blocking sporadic splatters of corrosive acid and Demon Moth Scale Powder.

Dustin Sullivan’s eyes were locked on the three moving mountains.

He said gravely, "If we want to complete the mission and get the reward, what better time to risk our lives than now?!"

After speaking, he took a deep breath as if having made a decision, and turned to look at the perpetually cynical Julian Shaw beside him.

His tone was dead serious, leaving no room for argument. "Hey! Julian Shaw, stop holding back. Let’s fight with everything we’ve got!"

Hearing this, Julian Shaw’s single eye lit up slightly. The corner of his mouth curved into a teasing arc as he deliberately replied in an exaggerated tone:

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, have the pigs started to fly? Since you, Mr. Handsome Sullivan, have extended such a ’sincere’ invitation, how could I possibly refuse to give you face? This is the very first time you’ve ever asked me to cooperate. I certainly can’t refuse such a momentous ’first time.’"

A vein throbbed on Dustin Sullivan’s forehead. He fought back the urge to run him through with his sword, ignored the bastard’s trash talk, and turned his head away.

Then, Dustin Sullivan’s gaze passed over the crowd and landed on Seraphina Sullivan, who was intently observing the battlefield. In a solemn tone, he requested, "Miss Sullivan, the coming battle will likely be incredibly brutal. If we... especially my sister, suffer life-threatening injuries... I hope you can lend a hand and save our lives."

In his mind, he was still stuck on the image of Seraphina Sullivan as a "Healer," which she had displayed in the [Animal Slaughterhouse] instance.

Furthermore, the constant presence of Sean Chandler, who looked for all the world like a dedicated bodyguard, reinforced Dustin Sullivan’s misconception that Seraphina Sullivan was an important support Player in need of protection.

Hearing his request, Seraphina Sullivan nodded in agreement.

She didn’t explain further, as now was not the time for explanations.

Nearby, Julian Shaw saw how solemnly Dustin Sullivan was entrusting their lives to Seraphina Sullivan.

A flash of surprise and curiosity crossed his single eye. He glanced at Seraphina Sullivan, mentally raising the importance of this woman—whom his wristband had warned him to be "careful" of—by another Level.

"What are you waiting for!"

Dustin Sullivan’s low, sharp shout boomed in Julian Shaw’s ear like a thunderclap, instantly pulling his probing gaze away from Seraphina Sullivan.

"Coming!"

Julian Shaw responded, the cynical look vanishing from his face. Only a cold fighting spirit remained in his single eye.

The two of them turned their gazes to the distance almost simultaneously. The three Night Behemoths were slowly approaching like harbingers of doom, each step landing in time with everyone’s heartbeat, creating a suffocating sense of pressure.

"Heh," Dustin Sullivan suddenly chuckled, his tone laced with an indescribable complexity.

"I never thought the day would come when I, Dustin Sullivan, would fight alongside you, Julian Shaw. This is truly... a situation I never imagined."

"Tell me about it!" Julian Shaw flashed a defiant, yet slightly excited, smile. "But against big guys like these, the more the merrier!"

The next moment, in perfect unison, they both flipped their hands over. A gorgeously colored potion, shimmering with energy, appeared in each of their palms.

It was a potion from the [Medicine Gift Package] they had received for completing a side quest!

Without another word, standing several meters apart, they mimed touching their potion vials together from a distance as if performing an ancient ritual.

Then, they both tilted their heads back and downed the potions in one gulp!

A surging wave of Energy instantly exploded within their bodies, flowing through every limb and vessel, bringing with it a burning sensation of overflowing Power.

"You support, I’ll take the lead!" Dustin Sullivan roared, feeling the Power surging through him.

"Enough talk! Let’s go!" Julian Shaw growled in response, an eerie light flaring up in his single eye!

VMMMM—!

An invisible Force Field expanded outward from Julian Shaw!

The next moment, both Dustin Sullivan and Julian Shaw’s bodies felt lighter as they simultaneously broke free from gravity and levitated into the air!

It was Julian Shaw, using his [Gravity Control] Ability!

Like arrows loosed from a bowstring, they shot forward under the boost of the controlled gravity, flying at an astonishing speed toward one of the Night Behemoths, which wielded a giant tree as a club!

On the ground, Coco Sullivan and Trevor Tanner instantly understood their roles.

"Cover my brother and the others!" Coco Sullivan cried out. With a series of waves from her hands, scorching Magic Flames bloomed like red lotuses, clearing a fan-shaped area before her and incinerating the flying monsters that tried to intercept them.

"I know! So annoying!" Trevor Tanner complained, but his actions were swift. He pressed his palms to the ground, and several hard rock walls instantly rose up, blocking the path of the charging rat tide on the ground and carving out a relatively safe path for the two in the air.

In the sky, the potion’s Power surged through Dustin Sullivan’s body.

His eyes locked onto his target as he threw the ancient-looking longsword in his hand forward!

Talent [Big Sword] Unleashed

"Grow!"

Following his booming shout, which was infused with Spirit Power, the thrown longsword began to grow explosively in mid-air!

The blade extended and expanded at a frenzied pace, visible to the naked eye!

Ten meters! Twenty meters! Fifty meters!

In the blink of an eye, a hundred-meter-long, sky-piercing greatsword, shimmering with a blinding, cold light, hovered beneath the dark canopy of the sky!

The blade hummed, radiating an aura of sharpness so intense it could make one’s soul tremble!

Everyone watched this scene in utter shock.

In the past, Dustin Sullivan would never have transformed his sword to such an exaggerated size.

For one, the drain on his spiritual power was astronomical and difficult to sustain.

For another, even if he could force it to that size, his own Power was insufficient to wield such a behemoth.

But now, he had Julian Shaw!
