Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Hunter Lowe, Brainwashing Talent

Sean Chandler joined the battlefield like a phantom, his movements so fast they defied comprehension.

As he fell, he precisely kicked off the edge of a windowsill, using the momentum to launch himself upward again. He pounced like an agile cat toward a Rogue Beetle about to crawl through the window of a residential building!

[Talent: Monster Power—Activated!]

His fist, brimming with terrifying power, slammed directly onto the beetle’s relatively fragile head carapace with no wasted motion.

THUD!

The beetle’s head instantly burst open like a watermelon smashed by a sledgehammer, splattering green fluid and shell fragments everywhere!

Its massive carcass immediately went limp and plummeted from the wall.

Sean Chandler didn’t linger after the successful strike.

He activated his Beastification Talent.

However, he didn’t fully transform.

He seemed to have perfectly integrated the agility and balance of a black cat into his human-form combat.

His feet found minute footholds on the vertical surface of the wall, allowing him to maintain an incredible balance. Meanwhile, the sharp claws that shot out from his fingertips became his deadliest weapons!

He was like a Reaper dancing upon the wall, leaping and weaving with agility as he rapidly closed in on the insectoid monsters struggling to climb higher.

Every pounce, every flash of his claws, was accompanied by the grating sound of carapaces being torn asunder and the death shrieks of the beetles.

One by one, he precisely plucked the Rogue Beetles from the wall and sent them plummeting to the ground.

Down below, Justin Brooks, who had been struggling to hold back the tide of insects, felt the pressure on him instantly decrease, granting him a precious moment to breathe.

Keith Griffith, peeking from behind his window, was stunned speechless by Sean Chandler’s inhuman display of combat. His face turned deathly pale, and his back was instantly drenched in a cold sweat.

"I’m done for, I’m done for... I absolutely, positively cannot mess with Seraphina Sullivan and her people!" he stammered, trembling.

"Her boyfriend is a Player too, and he’s this ridiculously strong?! I must have been blind before..." He completely abandoned the petty schemes he had been plotting against Seraphina Sullivan.

Elsewhere, Samuel Webb also witnessed the scene through his window. His shock was no less than Keith Griffith’s, but it was tinged with an even deeper horror.

’This guy’s power... It’s way greater than it was in the dungeon! How in the world did he get this strong?!’

Samuel Webb, however, was debating whether or not he should flee.

For he knew that Hunter Lowe was behind this monster attack.

However, Seraphina Sullivan, who was standing by the window, frowned deeply.

Although Sean Chandler’s forceful intervention had brought the situation under temporary control, Seraphina Sullivan knew that the root of the problem remained.

Her gaze, as sharp as a hawk’s, swept rapidly over every corner of the complex, every single window.

’The one controlling these insects... or the broodmother itself... where is it?!’

Seraphina Sullivan had to find the source, and quickly.

Otherwise, if the insects kept pouring in and the battle escalated, she might be forced to use more of her Abilities to protect herself—Abilities that would clearly mark her as a Player. At that point, her identity would be exposed.

’The official rescue team might not get here in time. If that happens, I might have to step in to save myself,’ Seraphina thought. ’But that is absolutely not the outcome I want!’

She had to find the manipulator hiding in the shadows before the situation spiraled completely out of control!

Seraphina Sullivan focused her mind. The [Remote Locking] function of her [Analysis Glasses] and the information-reading Ability of her [Eye of Resume] activated simultaneously, scanning every suspicious figure around the complex like an invisible radar.

Her target was clear: find the Player named Hunter Lowe.

Finally, Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze locked onto a figure just outside the complex’s main gate. He was leaning against a crumbling section of the perimeter wall, seemingly a curious onlooker, but he radiated a sinister aura.

What gave him away was the insectoid monster standing beside him, seemingly on guard.

Seraphina Sullivan immediately knew this was the culprit she had been looking for.

The data instantly appeared:

[Name: Hunter Lowe]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: Level 2]

[Professional Skills: Talent·Brainwashing: Through a special method, the user can mentally infiltrate and recondition a target, forcing them to completely obey the user’s commands. The success rate and Effect depend on the difference in spiritual power and Willpower between the two parties.]

[Weaknesses: Severe motion sickness. Riding in any vehicle for more than ten minutes will likely cause extreme discomfort.]

’So this is Hunter Lowe? This is what he looks like? Isn’t he the Vorlag City crime boss who was supposedly arrested? How did he get out? And he became a Player?’ Seeing his name and profile, Seraphina Sullivan instantly recalled the news reports she had seen about him.

’She’d thought the name sounded familiar when she heard it from Justin Brooks earlier; so this was the guy.’

But the situation was critical, and she had no time to dwell on the details.

The insect swarm was still crawling out of the muddy ground, Justin Brooks was barely holding his own, and Sean Chandler was racing around putting out fires. The source had to be cut off—now!

’Brainwashing people... That Ability is too dangerous. If he targeted me, I wouldn’t be able to resist. I have to eliminate this potential threat as soon as possible!’ Alarm bells screamed in Seraphina Sullivan’s mind, and a cold killing intent rose within her.

She immediately used her mental link, clearly relaying the target’s location and the command to "kill on sight" to the still-fighting Sean Chandler.

Sean Chandler, having just torn a beetle apart with his bare hands, sent his icy gaze shooting across the chaotic battlefield, locking precisely onto the seemingly relaxed man at the complex gate.

Their eyes met.

Hunter Lowe was admiring his "masterpiece" and plotting how to finish off Justin Brooks when he suddenly met Sean Chandler’s emotionless, murderous gaze. A jolt of shock went through him.

’Oh?! I’ve been spotted?!’

Hunter Lowe hadn’t expected that, besides Justin Brooks, this seemingly ordinary residential complex would be hiding such a fiend.

His power seemed far greater than Justin Brooks’s!

But after the initial shock, Hunter Lowe’s face showed no sign of panic. Instead, a twisted expression of excitement and greed spread across it.

’Such immense power... If I could control him, turn him into my puppet...’ Hunter Lowe licked his lips, a crazed light glinting in his eyes.

’Then the loss of those useless subordinates at the Shelter yesterday would be more than made up for. I’d even come out way ahead!’

He was extremely confident in his [Brainwashing] Talent.

Although the Talent had one critical limitation—it could only be used on a single target once per day and required some preparation time—a successful attempt would turn the target into his most loyal and fearless pawn.

Seeing Sean Chandler carving a path through the beetles at an incredible speed and bearing down on him like a god of slaughter, Hunter Lowe didn’t retreat. He advanced, a provocative, malicious smile spreading across his face as he secretly began to gather his spiritual power, preparing to unleash his one use of [Brainwashing].

After dispatching the beetles around him, Justin Brooks also saw Hunter Lowe, the man Sean Chandler was closing in on.

Remembering Hunter Lowe’s chilling Ability and seeing his triumphant smirk, he instantly realized what Hunter Lowe was planning.

He immediately shouted a warning.

"Mr. Chandler, don’t get close to him! His Ability can control you!"

Hunter Lowe laughed. "Haha, too late!"
