Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Beetle Attack

Justin Brooks’s words had a deeper meaning.

He clearly believed that by revealing his Player status to save him, Sean Chandler might attract unwanted attention or trouble. He was offering to use his official background to provide protection and help.

Listening from the side, Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes lit up, and she was secretly delighted.

’What a pleasant surprise!’

’I never thought saving Justin would get us a promise like this. It’s like an extra layer of protection for Sean, and indirectly, for me too.’

Faced with Justin’s gratitude and promise, Sean Chandler remained as unperturbed as ever. He simply gave a steady nod and replied succinctly, "Understood."

However, just as their conversation ended and the atmosphere began to relax...

"AHHH—!!!"

An extremely shrill, terrified scream suddenly shot up from downstairs, cutting their conversation short!

It was immediately followed by a flood of chaotic shrieks, cries, and the sounds of panicked running. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

"What’s happening?!"

"Monsters! There are monsters!"

"Run! Help!"

Hearing the screams, the expressions of Seraphina Sullivan, Sean Chandler, and Justin Brooks changed simultaneously. They rushed to the window to look down.

Down below, in a sludge-covered area that residents had been clearing, several enormous, grotesque monsters—beetles that looked as if they’d crawled from the abyss—were bursting out from under the thick mud.

They had thick, rust-colored carapaces and compound eyes that glowed with a bloodthirsty red light. Most terrifying of all, their forelimbs had evolved into massive, sharp, bony pincers resembling a Reaper’s scythe. They swung them wildly, attacking the unprepared and terrified residents!

The moment he saw these insects, Justin Brooks’s face paled, and he gasped in disbelief, "How is this possible?! Hunter Lowe has already managed to hatch so many of these Insectoid Monsters?!"

Seraphina Sullivan’s heart pounded when she saw the monsters too.

She never imagined such horrifying creatures could appear in the real world!

She immediately focused her mind and scanned them with her [Eye of Resume]:

[Name: Rogue Beetle]

[Gender: Male]

[Professional Skills: Scythe-Blades: Forelimb pincers possess extreme cutting power.]

[Weaknesses: Fears high temperatures and Flame.]

’Where in the world did these monsters come from?!’ Seraphina Sullivan wondered.

Meanwhile, residents on the higher floors, drawn by the piercing screams, also leaned out of their windows to look down.

The sight nearly scared them out of their wits.

It wasn’t just one—dozens of terrifying beetles, each the size of a large dog, were continuously pouring out from the depths of the sludge!

They cruelly pounced on the working residents, dragging them into the mud. Their fearsome scythe-like pincers swung down without mercy, reaping lives in an instant.

More beetles then dragged the bodies away.

"Ah! Help me!"

"Monsters! So many monsters!"

"Run! Get upstairs! Get upstairs now!"

Shrill screams and desperate cries for help instantly echoed throughout the entire residential complex.

Witnessing this hellish scene, Justin Brooks’s eyes turned bloodshot. His fists clenched so hard they cracked as he growled through gritted teeth, "Hunter—Lowe—!"

Unable to bear it any longer, and ignoring his own unhealed, serious injuries, he turned and rushed for the door, intending to go downstairs and help immediately.

Seraphina Sullivan understood at once.

’These terrifying Insectoid Monsters... they must be the work of that madman Justin mentioned, Hunter Lowe.’

’And considering Justin’s injuries...’

’The target of these insects is probably Justin, or maybe they’re just meant to create chaos and gather more flesh and blood!’

Hearing the name Justin shouted, Seraphina Sullivan immediately used the window to rapidly scan the surrounding vantage points and hidden corners of the complex, trying to find the culprit pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

But as far as she could see, there was only a chaotic crowd and grotesque Insectoid Monsters, with no sign of any suspicious figures.

Hunter Lowe was clearly well-hidden, perhaps lurking in some corner, satisfactorily admiring his "masterpiece."

Forcing himself to endure the intense pain and weakness, Justin Brooks quickly appeared amid the chaos downstairs.

"Look! It’s Justin Brooks!"

"He’s an official Player! He must have a way to deal with these monsters!" someone shouted as if they’d seen their savior.

Justin Brooks ignored the shouts around him, his gaze locked on the rampaging Insectoid Monsters.

He let out a low shout and thrust his right hand forward!

Instantly, the ground before him shook violently as countless sharp, thick stone spikes burst out from beneath the earth and sludge without warning!

This was an advanced and flexible application of his [Wall] Talent.

He had transformed the "raise a wall" Ability, originally meant for defense and obstruction, into a lethal, instantaneous piercing attack!

SQUELCH!

SQUELCH!

With a few sickening crunches, the Rogue Beetles at the very front were caught off guard. They were instantly impaled through their relatively soft abdomens or joints by the sharp spikes. Viscous green blood splattered everywhere, and after a few twitches, they stopped moving.

However, there were simply too many of the insects, and their reactions were incredibly fast.

It was as if they had anticipated that Justin would use such a tactic against them.

More of the beetles leaped nimbly out of the spikes’ attack range, their crimson compound eyes immediately locking onto the human who posed such a great threat to them.

HISS—!

A sharp hiss erupted from the swarm. The next moment, nearly every Rogue Beetle still able to move turned and charged madly toward Justin Brooks like a tidal wave.

Their scythe-like pincers raised high, they were determined to tear him to pieces.

Justin’s expression was grave as he did his utmost to respond.

He continuously manipulated the ground, raising Stone Walls for defense or thrusting up spikes to attack, managing to barely hold back the swarm’s frontal assault for the time being.

But many of the beetles were still drawn by the terrified screams and the vital Aura of life from the residents upstairs.

Using their sharp claws, they began to cling to the exterior walls of the building, scurrying rapidly toward the open windows and balconies like terrifying geckos.

"AHHH—! They’re climbing up! Help!" residents on even higher floors let out more piercing shrieks.

The building where Seraphina Sullivan lived was not spared!

A few of the beetles had clearly noticed the open window and the figures inside. They were climbing rapidly up the wall and were about to reach them!

’Seriously? I have to deal with these damn things in the real world, too?!’ Seraphina Sullivan cursed under her breath. With the crisis at hand, she couldn’t afford to hide anymore.

"Sean Chandler!"

No more words were needed. Sean Chandler’s eyes sharpened. Without a hint of hesitation, he took a running start and leaped forcefully out of the window.

As countless people in the other buildings watched in terror and disbelief, Sean Chandler dove from the window like an agile leopard, landing with pinpoint accuracy on one of the climbing Rogue Beetles.

"Oh my god! He jumped!"

"Is he crazy?! Does he have a death wish?!"

Everyone who saw this gasped in shock, their faces paling in horror.
