Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 101: New Dungeon! Petrification Apocalypse
Chapter 101: Chapter 101: New Dungeon! Petrification Apocalypse
Over the next two days, the relief supplies promised by the government finally arrived, delivered via assault boats and manual labor to the various apartment buildings besieged by the flood.
The supplies were distributed according to the number of households, with each family receiving the same standard ration.
Some compressed biscuits, bottled water, a small amount of vacuum-sealed meat and vegetables, and basic medicine—enough to sustain a household’s basic needs for about a week.
During the distribution, although some minor squabbles broke out over the distribution order or complaints about the quantity of supplies, no one dared to truly cause trouble.
Because among the soldiers maintaining order and supervising the distribution, there was one person who put everyone at ease while also ensuring no one dared to step out of line.
Justin Brooks.
After several consecutive days of high-intensity rescue missions, his superiors had specially arranged for him to return to his own residential complex with the supply distribution team, giving him a chance to rest briefly and visit his mother.
When Miss Webb saw her son return safe and sound, her eyes reddened with joy.
She excitedly held Justin Brooks’s hand and spoke with him for a long time before he gently urged her to head home with her share of the relief supplies.
Justin Brooks’s presence was undoubtedly a shot in the arm for the residents of the building, and it also effectively deterred anyone with ulterior motives.
Seraphina Sullivan also received her standard portion of supplies.
She didn’t care much for them, casually tossing them into a corner of the kitchen.
To her, these items were better than nothing, but they were mainly just props to maintain her "ordinary resident" persona.
At that moment, her entire focus was on something far more important.
The upcoming new Dungeon.
She and Sean Chandler were already prepared.
More importantly, she had a specific experiment in mind this time.
She wanted to verify whether they would be transported to the same or a nearby starting location when entering the next Dungeon.
If the experiment succeeded, it would confirm the viability of forming a permanent team and coordinating targeted tactics. Her chances of survival would increase dramatically!
She and Sean Chandler exchanged a look, and both could see the gravity and a faint, hidden flicker of anticipation in the other’s eyes.
Only one day remained—the last day of the real-world buffer period.
「The next day.」
The familiar system notification chimed on schedule in her mind, cold and emotionless.
[Ding! Seven-day preparation period has ended.]
[Ding! The Disaster Game will now commence.]
[Ding! Player Seraphina Sullivan detected at Level 2. Permissions unlocked. Dungeon selection function now available.]
[Ding! Please select one of the following Dungeons to enter.]
As the notifications faded, two clusters of faintly glowing text appeared out of thin air before Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes. They hung there like holographic projections, exuding an undeniable sense of mystery.
[Aberrant Radiation]... or... [Dark Apocalypse]
Seeing those two words, "Aberrant Radiation," Seraphina Sullivan’s pupils contracted slightly.
’This Dungeon is still an option?’
It had appeared when the last preparation period ended, but she had dismissed it without a second thought.
’Does it haunt me like a ghost every time, following me like a shadow until I finally choose it?’
Seraphina Sullivan quickly composed herself and began to analyze the situation rationally.
’When it comes down to it, I have no Ability to counter radiation. I’m still not choosing Aberrant Radiation.’
Her gaze shifted to the other option.
’Dark Apocalypse.’
’Judging by the name, it’s likely a world that has lost its light. Maybe it’s a world of eternal night, or maybe it’s shrouded in some kind of darkness.’
’I’m not completely certain, but compared to lethal radiation, dealing with darkness seems to offer more room to maneuver.’
Seraphina Sullivan had prepared plenty of lighting equipment and night-vision gear.
She turned her head and exchanged a look with Sean Chandler, who stood beside her in perfect understanding.
Without a word, Sean Chandler immediately understood her reasoning. He gave a slight nod in agreement.
They both focused their consciousness on the [Dark Apocalypse] option simultaneously.
However, just as Seraphina Sullivan’s will was about to touch the [Dark Apocalypse] option—
[Ding! A Player has been detected using a specific item on you—’Area Selection Item’!]
[Ding! Your selection privileges have been forcibly overridden!]
[Ding! Player Seraphina Sullivan and the nearby Sean Chandler will now be forcibly transferred to the Dungeon—Petrification Apocalypse!]
?!
Seraphina Sullivan: ??
’What just happened?! The Petrification Apocalypse? That wasn’t even an option! Who is it? Who’s plotting against me?!’
There was no time to think or curse. A powerful teleportation force had already enveloped Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler, and the Space around them began to distort.
Seraphina Sullivan also activated the Ability of the [Transformation Ring].
A faint light flickered on the ring and was gone in an instant!
In the split second before her body was completely consumed by the white light and vanished, her facial features and figure blurred like ripples on water, rapidly changing into a plain, unremarkable face—the kind you wouldn’t be able to pick out of a crowd.
The next moment, the white light completely swallowed everything.
In an instant, the two of them entered the new apocalypse Dungeon.
In the next instant, a powerful sense of weightlessness and dizziness struck them, only to vanish just as abruptly.
Seraphina Sullivan’s feet touched solid ground. She quickly steadied herself and scanned her surroundings warily.
She found herself in an extremely dilapidated stairwell.
Large patches of the Walls were peeling, but what was more striking was that nearly every surface was covered in a thick layer of dark, greenish moss.
It was damp, with water droplets seeping downwards, making the entire environment feel cold and suffocating.
Faint light filtered in from a broken window in the distance, barely dispelling some of the gloom.
Seven or eight other people had appeared here at the same time as her. Everyone seemed to have just recovered from the brief discomfort of teleportation, their faces showing varying degrees of confusion and vigilance.
"Is... is this that Petrification Apocalypse Dungeon?" a man in a windbreaker asked in a low, uncertain voice. He instinctively touched the cold, slimy Wall, then quickly shook his hand in disgust.
Seraphina Sullivan said nothing. She and Sean wordlessly positioned themselves to cover each other’s blind spots, then quickly and carefully sized up the other Players.
As she calmly observed the others, she could clearly feel several scrutinizing gazes landing on her and Sean Chandler from different directions.
The atmosphere between the Players instantly became tense and delicate.
Soon, Seraphina Sullivan’s gaze locked onto a figure who seemed somewhat out of place.
The person was craning his neck, looking around the crowd like a headless fly, his face filled with an undisguised urgency as if desperately searching for someone specific.
In an instant, Seraphina Sullivan understood everything.
’She knew who had dragged her into this [Petrification Apocalypse] Dungeon.’
’Damn you, Dexter Luther,’ she cursed inwardly, grinding her teeth.
’That’s right. The guy looking around frantically was none other than her "old friend," Dexter Luther.’
’Looking at him, she didn’t even need to use her brain to know who he was looking for.’
’He was definitely trying to find her, probably to show off or to "help" her by teaming up.’
