Infinite Awakening: 10,000x EXP Converter!
Chapter 75: The Cure, One Drop
One drop. That was all the System’s analysis indicated. One drop of phoenix essence to reverse cellular crystallization at the molecular level.
He tilted the vial. A single drop of golden liquid fell from the rim and landed on Martha’s lower lip.
The effect was immediate.
[DING!]
[Tears of the Phoenix administered.]
[Target: Martha Vance.]
[Condition: Dimensional Crystallization (Progressive).]
[Phoenix Essence: Engaging.]
Golden light bloomed from the point of contact. It spread across Martha’s lips, then her cheeks, then down her neck, suffusing her skin with a warm inner glow. The crystalline patches on her fingers began to shift. The grey glassy skin turned golden, then translucent, then faded entirely as healthy pink tissue grew beneath.
The crystal didn’t just dissolve. It transformed. The phoenix essence didn’t destroy the crystallization. It rewrote it, converting inert mineral structures back into living tissue cell by cell. Alvian could hear it. A cracking grinding sound as the crystal formations in Martha’s bronchial passages broke apart and were consumed by the golden light.
Martha coughed.
The cough was wet, productive, bringing up fragments of crystal that caught the faint light from the window. The fragments dissolved in the golden aura before they hit the sheets, reducing to fine dust that scattered and vanished. Martha coughed again, and again, each cough expelling more crystal, each breath coming easier than the last.
Thirty seconds. That was how long it took.
Thirty seconds for the Tears of the Phoenix to reverse months of crystallization. Thirty seconds for the S-Rank elixir to do what weeks of Undercity medicine and hundreds of credits of VIT potions couldn’t.
Martha’s breathing changed. The crystalline rasp, that grinding sound that had been the soundtrack of Alvian’s life for months, was gone. She breathed deeply. Clearly. Easily. Without pain. Her chest rose and fell in the steady rhythm of healthy sleep.
The golden glow faded. The warmth in the air settled into something natural. The apartment was dark again, and quiet, and the only sound was breathing.
Alvian capped the vial. Nine doses remained. He stored it in his spatial ring, the weight of it settling against his hip like a promise kept.
Then he sat on the floor beside the bed. His back against the wall. His knees drawn up. His hands resting on his thighs, palms up, the Clearwater residue still faintly glistening on his skin.
He allowed himself five minutes.
Not because the System told him to. Not because he calculated it as optimal recovery time. Because he needed it. Because for the first time in months, his mother was breathing clearly, and his brother was sleeping safely, and the Undercity was quiet, and the vial of medicine that had cost him a Duke’s life and a King’s anger was safely stored in his ring.
Five minutes of silence. Five minutes of peace. Five minutes where he wasn’t calculating or planning or fighting or dissolving. Just a boy sitting beside his mother’s bed, watching her breathe.
’This is what it was for. All of it. The Warrens. The System. The tournament. The Estate. The Rift. The heist. All of it was for this moment.’
’This moment where Martha breathes and Leo sleeps and the apartment is quiet and I don’t have to be anything other than what I am.’
Leo mumbled something in his sleep. His fingers tightened on the crumpled drawing. A small sound, content and untroubled. The sound of a child who didn’t know his brother had killed a Duke and broken into the Royal Treasury and was about to face conceptual entities sent by reality itself to erase him from existence.
Good. Let him not know. Let him sleep.
The five minutes ended.
The peace receded, replaced by the constant hum of tactical processing that had become his default state. The Fate Enforcer countdown appeared in the corner of his vision.
[Time until Fate Enforcer deployment: 46 hours, 3 minutes.]
Forty-six hours. Less than two days. Conceptual entities made of crystalline law, designed to erase anomalies from existence. Not warriors. Not monsters. Correction protocols. Debugging software for the universe’s operating system.
He couldn’t punch them. He couldn’t dissolve them with Clearwater. They weren’t made of matter. They were made of rules.
He began running scenarios. Every simulation ended the same way. Conceptual entities required conceptual defenses. His current Skills, all S-Rank and physical, would be useless against enemies that existed outside physical space.
He needed something else. Something the System had been hinting at since the God Roll.
The System interface pulsed. A new notification appeared, different from standard prompts. This one was gold, bordered with prismatic light. The same visual language as the Version 2.0 unlock notification weeks ago.

[The System will continue to monitor.]
[Good luck, Host.]
Version 3.0. Creation Tier. The next evolution of the System’s mechanics. Not just multiplying EXP or Skill proficiency. Multiplying creation itself. Crafting. Forging. Conceptual comprehension.
He couldn’t fight Fate Enforcers with what he had. But Version 3.0 might give him the tools. Concept-bound Armaments. Conceptual Skill variants. Something that existed on the same level as the entities coming to erase him.
He needed to trigger the Version 3.0 unlock. The System said the conditions were "approaching" but not met. There was a threshold he hadn’t crossed yet.
He checked his resources. 224,900,000 EXP in the Bank. S-Rank Skills. Level 70 stats. 53 Karma Points. The Concept Override Token in the VIP Shop, locked behind a 2,000 KP wall he couldn’t afford.
KP. He needed KP. The currency of bad luck. The consolation prize for garbage rolls. The defense against cosmic erasure.
’Forty-six hours. I need to farm KP. I need to trigger Version 3.0. I need to find a way to fight conceptual entities. And I need to do it all while the King is hunting me.’
He stood. His body ached from the heist, from the Void Step transitions, from the bone-deep exhaustion of maintaining INT 192 processing for hours without rest. VIT 855 kept him functional, but functional wasn’t the same as fresh.
He looked out the window. The sky above Vaeloria was dark, the clouds healed from his Aura Explosion days ago. The stars were bright and cold and indifferent. Somewhere behind them, behind the sky, behind the fabric of reality itself, the World Will was watching.
It had sent warnings. First Elevated. Then Active Monitoring. Then CRITICAL. Each escalation brought the Fate Enforcers closer. Each Epic roll, each God Roll, each probability manipulation had drawn its attention.
Now it was sending its enforcers. Not to fight him. To correct him. To remove the anomaly from the equation, as if he were a typo in the universe’s manuscript.
Alvian thought about that for a long moment.
A typo. A mistake. A bug in the code.
He thought about the Awakening Ceremony, where the Essence Monolith had read his Talent as E-Rank Clearwater, the worst possible result. He thought about Darius Magnus calling him trash. He thought about the sanitation guild recruitment suggestion.
The World Will was no different. It looked at him and saw an error to be corrected.
But Alvian wasn’t an error. He was a choice. Martha’s choice to adopt a stranger’s child. Leo’s choice to draw warriors on the wall. Tobias’s choice to shelter a mother and her son. Serah’s choice to modify a Talent that everyone said was worthless.
Every one of those choices had built him into what he was.
"Come then," Alvian whispered. He didn’t know if the World Will could hear him. He didn’t care. The words weren’t for the World Will. They were for himself.
"Come and try."
The apartment was quiet. Martha breathed. Leo slept. The charcoal drawings watched from the walls, stick figure warriors with glowing swords, fighting battles they couldn’t lose because a child had drawn them winning.
Alvian turned from the window and began to plan.
---
The thirteenth level was quiet at 4 AM in a way the surface world never was.
No birds. No wind through trees. Just the hum of ancient ventilation systems and the distant drip of condensation from pipes that hadn’t been maintained since before the Cataclysm.
Alvian sat at the small table in the apartment’s kitchen corner. The table was scarred wood, salvaged from a collapsed building two levels up. The chair was a crate. The light was a single Essence-crystal shard wedged into a wall crack, casting a pale blue glow that made everything look slightly dead.
His mind was running three parallel thought streams.
