Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Transmutation of Venom

The venom master’s face twisted into something ugly.

He raised both hands, his palms glowing with sickly emerald light. The purple mist around him deepened, darkened, until it turned a murky black-green.

"You want to play alchemist?" he snarled. "Let me show you real poison."

He slammed his palms together.

The ground shook.

A wave of toxic fog erupted from his body, rolling across the arena floor like a living tide. It was thick, viscous, hungry. The air turned yellow-green as it spread, eating through the sand and leaving scorched trails in its wake.

Coiling Viper Mist.

The crowd gasped.

Spectators in the front rows covered their mouths, coughing even through the barrier. The mist was so potent it was leaking through the formation’s edges.

Grand Marshal Vane raised an eyebrow but didn’t intervene.

The venom master laughed.

"Dissolve, alchemist. Become fertilizer for my garden."

The mist swallowed Alena whole.

Damon watched from the Azure Dragon dugout.

His Incubus Celestial Eyes cut through the fog, tracking Alena’s silhouette. She wasn’t moving. She wasn’t running.

She was standing still.

Ariel gripped his arm.

"Damon, is she—"

"She’s fine."

He said it with absolute certainty.

Inside the mist, Alena’s eyes were closed.

Her fingers tightened around the Verdant Genesis Staff.

The wood hummed, responding to her touch, to her bloodline, to the ancient alchemist knowledge flowing through her veins.

She could feel the toxins.

They pressed against her skin, trying to find a way in. Trying to dissolve her flesh, her robes, her very existence.

But the staff drank them first.

The World Tree wood pulsed, its grain glowing brighter with each wave of poison it absorbed. The organic compounds dissolved into the staff’s core, metabolized, transformed.

Alena’s lips moved.

A whisper. An incantation.

"Verdant Genesis: Spore Synthesis."

The staff pulsed once.

Then a thousand points of light emerged from the wood, floating upward like fireflies. They were tiny, barely visible, each one a glowing emerald spore no bigger than a grain of rice.

They drifted into the mist.

Perfectly disguised.

The venom master’s laughter died in his throat.

He squinted into the fog, trying to see through his own poison. His spiritual sense reached out, searching for Alena’s life force.

He found nothing.

"What the—"

He lunged forward, his toxic claws extended.

His Qi flared.

And the spores reacted.

The first one detonated against his forearm.

A concussive emerald burst, throwing his arm wide. The second exploded against his chest, sending him stumbling. The third, fourth, fifth, sixth—a chain reaction rippled through the mist, each spore feeding on his Qi and detonating in sequence.

The venom master screamed.

He tried to retreat, to pull his Qi back, but it was too late. The spores had already latched onto his energy signature. They tracked him, hunted him, detonated against his body in a relentless cascade of green explosions.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

The crowd watched in stunned silence as the venom master was hurled across the arena, his body bouncing off the sand, his robes shredded, his skin blackened by his own poison.

He crashed into the barrier with a sickening thud, his body crumpling against the invisible wall.

He slid down, leaving a trail of blackened skin on the sand.

Unconscious.

The mist began to clear, revealing the arena floor.

Alena stood in the center of the arena, completely untouched. Her robes were pristine. Her hair was perfect. Her breathing was steady.

She looked like she had just finished a morning meditation.

The arena smelled of sweet jasmine.

Not poison. Not rot.

Jasmine.

The crowd murmured.

Whispers spread through the stands like wildfire.

"She didn’t even break a sweat."

"What kind of alchemist is she?"

"Did she just... transmute his poison into flowers?"

Alena opened her eyes.

She looked down at the unconscious venom master, then at the Verdant Genesis Staff in her hands. A small smile crossed her lips.

"Not bad," she said quietly.

Grand Marshal Vane’s voice boomed across the arena.

"Azure Dragon Sect leads. One to zero."

Alena turned and walked toward the dugout.

The crowd erupted.

Not the polite applause they gave the other sects. This was a roar. A genuine, thunderous ovation for a woman who had just turned poison into perfume.

Damon met her at the barrier.

He was smiling.

"Show off."

Alena’s cheeks flushed a deep crimson, but she held his gaze.

"I’m an alchemist," she said. "I don’t fight with swords. I fight with knowledge."

Damon reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her face.

"You fought beautifully."

Alena’s blush deepened.

"T-thank you."

Ariel grabbed her arm and pulled her into a hug.

"That was amazing! You turned his own poison against him! I didn’t even know that was possible!"

Mio nodded, her eyes wide.

"The spores. You synthesized them inside the mist. While it was trying to kill you."

Mia grinned.

"Calculated. Precise. Deadly."

Seraphina stepped forward and placed a hand on Alena’s shoulder.

"You’ve earned your place among us."

Flare crossed her arms, but there was respect in her eyes.

"Not bad, alchemist. Not bad at all."

Lumina smiled.

"The Azure Dragon Sect is off to a strong start."

Selene watched from the back of the dugout, her arms folded, her expression unreadable. But Damon caught the slight nod she gave Alena.

Approval.

Alena’s chest swelled with pride.

She looked at Damon, her forest-green eyes soft.

"I did it."

Damon nodded.

"You did."

He turned toward the arena, where the next Thousand Poison Pavilion fighter was already stepping onto the sand.

"But the match isn’t over yet."

Alena followed his gaze.

The second fighter was a woman, tall and lean, her arms covered in glowing green runes. She carried no weapons. She didn’t need them.

Her body was the poison.

Alena’s smile returned.

"Let her come."

Damon placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Rest. You’ve done your part."

Alena looked at him, confused.

"But I can still—"

"You can," Damon said. "But you don’t have to. Trust your sisters."

Alena hesitated.

Then she nodded.

She stepped back, letting Mio take her place at the barrier.

Mio cracked her neck.

"My turn."
